This is the perfect tea to wake you up in the morning. It’s lightly caffenieted but doesn’t make you jitter or feel like you’re on a sugar high like coffee does. It’s something that you can enjoy and start yourday without having to be shocked away. It does take a bit longer to brew than regular the teas but it’s worth the wait. For this tea I do add a pinch of salt and honey as it does tend to have a grassy bitterness.
Flavors: Buffalo Grass, Citrusy, Peppermint
Preparation
For a Yerba Mate this is the best deal. Its pure leaf meaning less roots and more of the leaf (antioxidants). For a Yerba Mate this is a 9 out of 10, as for taste its not really that enjoyable. The only reasons I would recommend this tea is because of the health benefits and also drinking something healthier than coffee without worrying about harmful soils etc… This tends to be a bitter grassy taste.

Preparation
I love this tea. I really enjoy the way it perks me up in a very balanced way. I drank some late in the evening last night before watching a movie. Gave me enough of a lift to stay awake for the entire thing, while simultaneously leaving me feeling balanced, grounded, and peaceful. No problem going to bed afterward. You have to try it!!
this is a creative blend that works really really well…a mild, consistent flavor with some smoky and earthy notes and a slightly bitter after taste. the box i have also blends a bit of peppermint which is present in the taste too. since its bagged its really convenient to have on the go…i drink it on rainy monday mornings or when i really feel like an extra boost to face the day. the tulsi in the tea is quite calming which really complements the cerebral energy of yerba. good stuff!
-AWESOME DRINK!
-EcoTeas’ best move.
-So smooth, so tasty, awesome when strong.
-Great blend, accentuates mate while being able to taste tulsi.
-Potential for awesome Juicy Mate that I think would have awesome marketability and would stay on track with EcoTeas’ mission for cheap, sustainable Mate products.
-I received a ½ lb bag, hopefully they sell 1 lb bags because this is one of the best loose leaf blended mate’s I have ever tried. Nothing overwhelms another ingredient, and it still gives you everything a good Yerba Mate should.
Only draw back to this Mate is that it does not have the re-usability that Mate usually entails. One use only, and the drink must be pretty hot.
Double use or luke warm Tulsi Loose Leaf = No
Preparation
I definitely like a cup of yerba mate (unsmoked) when I need an interesting pick me up.
This tea is strong and yes it is definitely a tea that you must have an “acquired taste” for (cigarette aroma). But I definitely like its strong, astringent earthy flavor. It is refreshing over ice with a little bit of stevia. This is not a tea I would drink with a meal.
Preparation
This has become my daily beverage of choice (not that I’ve given up coffee). The most important thing about yerba mate that I’ve discovered to keep it from getting bitter is something I saw in a snippet on another site – soak it in a little bit of cold water before brewing, just enough to get the leaves good and wet. I forgot to do this one time and it makes a HUGE difference in the flavor.
The way I have it:
2 Tbs yerba mate
1 Tbs dark chocolate chunks, broken up
2 tsp Oolong tea
1/4 tsp peppercorns
1/4 tsp whole cloves
a dash of nutmeg & cinnamon
Brew with 2.5 cups of water in an automatic drip coffee pot, add sugar and a dash of cream. I love it hot or iced!
