Cold Brew Sipdown (2059)!
Proud of myself for finishing this sample, but also sad to see it go because it was really good! I used to buy this strawberry banana frozen yogurt from Chapman’s, back when I was living in Saskatoon, pretty regularly and it was all I could think about as I was drinking this. So delicious and almost painfully nostalgic with just enough creaminess to really nail the frozen yogurt concept along with sweet, flavourful banana. Not overly tart either, which would have been the thing that I believe would have “shattered” the Fro Yo illusion for me.
A coworker was recently on vacation in Europe and he brought back a bag of this tea for people around the office to try – it was, I guess, one of two signature blends carried by the tea store. The other one sounded really interesting too (a caramel milk oolong), but it was sold out.
The dry leaf of this smells amazing though! Very sweet and nostalgically strawberry banana. It reminds me of a yogurt that I we used to eat a lot as kids, which I guess is points for the name being pretty accurate. I used to hate it growing up, but not there’s a weird fondness attached to the memory.
Steeped I thought this was pretty delicious – it’s more like a strawberry banana candy but there is a creaminess present. I think it’s the hibiscus in the blend (and the tartness it brings) that’s stopping my brain from fully processing it as frozen yogurt – but it was very tasty!
