This was one of my early favourites from DavidsTea. I still have a whole tin of it as I’ve been drinking it less and finding it less exciting.
However, it is still sweet, pleasant, and smooth. It’s something of a comfort tea for me.
Preparation
This doesn’t even really qualify as a tisane- it’s trail mix! It’s made of huge pieces of dates, raisins, dried banana chips and nut bits. This may also be one of the most expensive products I’ve rated here on Steepster so far. A 25g pouch was only enough for 2 modest cups.
The fragrance was sweet and nutty. There was only one banana chip in the pouch, so that didn’t contribute much. The dates really stood out.
Once prepared, this made a drink that was essentially a fruit soup. The liquid was a light muddy brown. With the nuts floating in it, you don’t want to look at it too long.
The taste wasn’t too bad. The dates were sweet and the slight oil from the nuts gave it a bit of creaminess. There was a very faint note of banana, but I would have liked it much stronger.
Overall, I was a little disappointed with this one. The flavor wasn’t as balanced or deep as I would like and it was a bit expensive. I guess it was fun to try it once but I won’t be reordering.
Preparation
Yeah I have different categories for tea: tea (true), herbals, and fruit tisane… and I even distinguis some herbals (like ginger) that has no liquor to speak of. I call those. “waters” (i.e. ginger water). You used 13g for just one modest cup? Hot dang! What qualifies as modest?
The cups were about 6oz each. The recommendation was 1 1/2 tsp per cup. There was only 4tsp in the 25g bag so I used it all since I wouldn’t have been left enough for a third cup. This was really heavy from the dates and nuts.
I agree with your post… I ordered this with my last davids order and was disappointed! I was surprised that I had used most of the bag at one time.
This full bodied tea has definitely caught my attention! Not only are the health benefits excellent (which makes me feel great), but the earthy, spiced orange flavor is perfectly balanced with a slight bite from the ginger.
A perfect find during the fall season, and I have I strange feeling I’ll be needing a lot of this tea come Christmas time.
[EDIT] Granted, this tea is a bit more expensive than David’s usual teas (I suspect because it’s Organic), this tea can easily be steeped twice! I steep 7 minutes the first time, and 9 minutes the second — it still retains a lot of it’s flavor and depth.
Preparation
I’ve been saving my Fall teas sampler from David’s until I’d decupboarded some things. Well, that went out the window this morning. And then I noticed that the Winter collection is already out…
Opened this little bag up, and the smell is divine. Identical to a baking crumble, right down to the crumble brown sugar/cinnamon/oats scent. Smell of the brewed cup is just as delicious. It smells calorie-laden and decadent.
Taste isn’t quite up to the smell. It’s more fresh strawberry than anything else. There’s a hint of the cinnamon/crumble, but not as powerful as the berry. I do also get some hibiscus taste as well. Can’t really taste the white tea at all.
Is it what it’s name says? To a point. Scent is 100% accurate, taste not so much. It’s delicious, but I’m a little disappointed that the two don’t match better. I also feel this would have benefited from being a rooibos or honeybush base: the white tea is essentially lost here, and the rooibos/honeybush may have helped carry the crumble/cinnamon flavors better.
As the cup cools, the crumble taste does come out more. A lot more, in fact. So much so that I’m tempted to delete what I’ve written and start fresh. I’ve never ahd a cup change this much as it cooled. Hibiscus is still there, though, so if you’re not a fan, I’d recommend staying away.
Preparation
I get a really creamy, smooth cup. Not an overwhelming creaminess but something really full seeming. I can almost imagine it’s food and not liquid as I drink it. The tea is not as sweet as one might expect, but it has nice hints of caramel. I haven’t ever actually had creme brulee dessert because I don’t like the texture of custard, but I imagine this makes a decent approximation of it.
It’s not as exciting as it all sounds, though. The flavour is quite mild even though it’s so creamy.
Preparation
This one’s alright, but weird since there’s not actually any tea in it! I almost wanted to just snack on it haha!!
My only real complaint about this tea is the MESS it leaves after it’s been steeped.. gross. But the flavour is great!!
Preparation
Another tea that I find to smell absolutely delicious, but am disappointed when I taste it. I tried to like it, I really did. But I just don’t. I find it doesn’t taste anything near to what it smells like, which is too bad.
Preparation
This tea smells fantastic, but I’m not a huge fan of the flavour. I’m not a huge coffee drinker, but would prefer a cup of coffee over this tea, which is disappointing.
Edit: I tried this tea again with some milk added and it made it taste much better!
Preparation
I DO NOT like any non-flavoured green tea. But? This one is actually very delicious. Usually the only way I’ll drink unflavoured green tea is if my husband makes a pot without asking what kind I want. But I’ll actually pick this one! It tastes like popcorn! It’s got a nice almost nutty flavour to it.
Preparation
I got this tea after a suggestion of using it for allergies. Of course I got it at the tail end of allergy season, so didn’t really get to put that theory into practice, but we’ll see next year I guess. It’s a pretty spicy tea, but good for every once in a while!
Preparation
My husband and I both really like this one! It’s pretty tasty. I generally dream a lot anyway, so I can’t say if it did anything for me, but he swears he’s had some vivid dreams after drinking this one!
When I first got this tea, I tried it and thought it was alright, then kind of forgot about it. But I tried it again recently, and you know what? It’s actually pretty darn good! It’s really got some great flavours in there that really come through. I sweeten my tea, so I’m not sure if that’s what helped, but after giving it a second chance, it’s become part of my regular list of go-to teas!
Preparation
This is one of my all time favourite teas – when it came back to the shelves of David’s Tea again this fall, I almost jumped for joy since my supply was getting to the ends (even though I was trying to ration it!)!!
This tea is so warm tasting and full and.. perfect. It’s like a warm hug on a cool fall day (not to sound too cheesy). I have to stop myself from drinking this one exclusively and give my other teas a chance!

Preparation
This tea was kind of disappointing. I got it as a gift, and it sounds like it would be a great tea, but on first sniff it smelled strongly of berry bubblegum. Fruity to the max, but in an artificial kind of way. Once steeped, the flavour is very similar to the scent. The bubblegum is slightly toned down, but it’s still not the true berry flavour I would have liked.
I had a friend over who quite liked this tea, and the friend who gifted it to me loved it, too, so I think I’m the only one who’s getting this artificial kind of bubblegum note.
Preparation
I don’t have a lot of experience with lavender as a flavoring component so I was going into this one blind.
The fragrance is strong of coconut and very subtly minty. Since mint isn’t listed as an ingredient, I’m guessing that’s how I was interpreting the lavender.
When prepared, there was a faint slick at the top of the cup which I’m guessing was coconut oil. There was a creaminess to this and the coconut flavor was very strong. I picked up a very faint wintergreen or peppermint note and a tart-floral finish. There’s a lingering coconut aftertaste.
I received a sample of this with my recent order. It definitely isn’t something I would have selected on my own but I was pleasantly surprised by how good this turned out.
Preparation
Thanks for the post, Paul. I’ve been considering this tisane for a while, but the coconut made me hesitate. I’ve enjoyed the effect of cococut in David’s Cocoa Paradiso, so I might try Jessie’s next.
David’s Tea! I am impressed.
I’ve tried three of their Holiday teas tonight, and each has been delicious and remarkable on its own merits. I wasn’t sure about ending the night with this, but now I’m glad I did! It’s perfectly sweet and cider-like. This was another tea that I loved to look at in the tin.
A bit like David’s Forever Nuts, with a nice apple-cinnamon edge to it.
Preparation
I just read about this one on the David’s site yesterday … the anise stopped me, as I really don’t care for it, but I might buy a sacrifical amount to store in a clear jar just for looks. Do you taste much anise?
You know, I didn’t really. But then, I don’t hate anise, so I might not have picked it out as easily or as readily as someone who doesn’t like it. I’m going to drink the tea again today, and I’ll get back to you on whether or not I can taste it. I’ll look for it. But, seeing as it’s something with such a strong flavour, I’ll say that is enough going on in the tea that you won’t notice it.
