I was really excited about this one: the smell of the loose tea is wonderful, the smell of the steeped tea is wonderful and slightly earthier, it tastes wonderfully creamy and minty and earthy all at once. However. I have tried a few pu-erh teas so far, and thus far thay’ve all been pretty hard on my stomach. I want to like this one, but I just can’t stomach it.

I couldn’t take this one either. I’d never been so nauseous from a tea until I tried this one!! too bad, I really enjoyed the taste.

I love this tea. I’m not a very regular green tea drinker, but I do make this one fairly often. It’s wonderfully earthy and vegetal with a buttery finish. I’ve managed to get my steeping time and temps just right a few times and it is absolutely fantastic!

drank Read My Lips by DAVIDsTEA

Not sure why I haven’t reviewed this one yet because I’ve had it for quite a while. Anyways, I really enjoy the blend of black tea and mint. Especially after Santa’s Secret, it’s become one of my favourite types of blended tea. Read my lips has got a bit of spice though, depending on how it’s steeped which is different from the creaminess that comes through with Santa’s Secret. I’m definitely a fan of the flavour profile of this one, and it’s great as a once-in-a-while tea. However, I don’t think it will be making a continuous appearance on my tea shelves.

drank White Tiger (Organic) by DAVIDsTEA

I have a tin plus some of White Tiger and I haven’t really been a huge fan of it until a) I had a major craving for white tea over the weekend, and b) I started steeping it properly.

I love the lightness of this tea so much! The blueberries taste like actual fruit not some engineered chemical flavoring, which is particularly wonderful. I take mine naked or dressed up a little with a tiny squidge of honey. I don’t have any agave right now or I’d probably be using that as a sweetener instead. This was lovely as a morning tea on my way to class today, but also is quite nice as an evening tea or after a larger meal – simply because it is a lighter tea but still grounded with the earthy blueberries.

I think White Tiger is going to continue to grow on me and become one of my steady cooler weather teas.

As a fan of tea in general, I was immediately drawn to the classic scent of Earl Grey. I love tea! Can’t live without it. Especially asian brews being oriental myself and growing up with them.

This one’s delicious! Strong with the Earl Grey but you definitely taste the quirk that is the citrus fruit of Orange. I work at a desk and my cubicle is always fluffed with the aroma of tea suiting my mood. This has become my waker-upper. Warm and soft yet strong enough to pick me up and spark me awake with the fruit.

Give it a try. :3

My mom is a big maté fan, so if she loves teas like this I should too, right?

Wrong… something about matés just comes off as musty-tasting to me. I wanted to like this, since I can no longer drink coffee I need something in the mornings to get me going. Jumpy Monkey just doesn’t appear to be that tea, guess I will have to stick with Jungle Ju Ju for the energy boost in the mornings.

I did a lot of cleaning today and was pretty exausted and dehydrated so this tea was perfect. (Also because I always forget to remove the strainer when I’m cleaning and this tea is really good even if I forget and let it steep for 5-10 or 30 minutes)

It’s my favorite ‘’refreshing tea’’.
It is super good, it is like drinking juice but without tasting really fake and sweet.

The green rooibos is really perfect and make me feel like i’m having a treat without feeling guilty because I know it is good for me ;).

The only thing is that it is not as good the second steep, the flavor is really weak.

It’s one of the tea I always have in my cupboard!

I sure hope tasting notes don’t overwrite previous ones. A friend of mine served me plain green tea with some lemon in it recently and I really enjoyed the bitter and citrus flavour that soaked into the tea from the lemon peel and flesh respectively.

Today when I was look for a tea to steep for the roommate and I, I came across Sencha Pear in my cupboard and thought that a lemon slice would pair well with tis tea. It does. The lemon bitterness of the lemon goes well with the aftertaste of pear, and the hints of citrus add a nice harmony to the tea.

It’s a great sipping combination.

This tea steeped for a long time. I recently discovered that I like the flavour of green tea when it is steeped without an infuser; being too lazy to strain, I drink my greens traditionally, with the tea leaves in the cup. I don’t like my teas piping hot, so this tea has a long time to steep. I reckon this may have led to a more green tea experience than advertised on the label. Luckily I love Sencha; my daily go-to tea.

Sencha pear has an interesting aftertaste. It tastes like a bitter pear essence coupled with sencha rather than the fruit itself. It steeps a gorgeous color and has a nice mild taste with a lingering aftertaste. Had I not steeped the leaves without an infuser I would likely have been able to get two or three good cups out of each tbsp (plus or minus half depending on the strength you want steeped).

It’s a great sipping tea for anyone with a penchant for slightly bitter tastes. I enjoyed my first cup of it today.

This tea was in my shopping list since a long time and I finally bought it today!

It’s amazing! It’s now my second cup of this tea for tonight (I steeped it twice and it was still really good!). The flavor is perfect, buttery, rum-y(?) and strong. I don’t like black flavored tea when there’s just a hint of the said flavor. This one really hit the spot!!!

I added a dash of white rum ( I would have prefer brown but I don’t have any right now), some cane sugar and half a teaspoon of coffe mate ( I know strange… but delicious!) and it taste SO good.

The color really remind me of brown rum, a rich gold/amber color!

And I did it in my new perfect mug from DT (the clear one with the stainless stell strainer) I love clear mug when I drink my tea and the strainer is really good too!!

I went to DT today and bought so much stuff they gave me the tea of the day for free . Yay!

I was sure I wouldn’t like it because I usually don’t like banana (especially the articial banana flavor) but to my surprise it was really good.

It tasted like banana but not as much as I thought it would and it was not too sweet just .. the perfect kind of sweetness ;).

There was also a really good nutty after taste and a hint of coconut.

I’m now thinking about maybe getting some to try at home. What a surprise… Me and a banana flavored tea!

The only thing is that is was a little bit weak but maybe it’s the way the steep it in store.. I know it often happen with the tea of the day… :S

Time to get to work on a chilly afternoon and I’m feeling like I need something warm in my belly, so Mulberry Magic, I choose you! I’m also in a kind of zen mood today because I finally heart my baby’s heartbeat again (after 6 weeks between appointments) which settled down my inherent worry-wortness.
I nailed the smell of the dry tea: those little liqueur chocolates that you get at Christmas! It smells exactly, EXACTLY like those. And again, it has the unmistakable yellow cake batter flavour that just fills your mouth and makes you think of licking beaters while an oven set to 350 bakes your delicious, delicious treats. Now that Canadian Thanksgiving is done, all I can think about is Christmas (and how I can get away with not hosting any of the festivities…) I think I’ll be buying several tins of this as gifts for people.
Or maybe I’ll just buy several tins of it as “gifts for people” and then drink them all myself.

I wasn’t interested in this tea.
Like not even a little.
Mulberry Magic? There is nothing about that name that thrills me.
But it was the tea of the day today with Carrot Cake (which I was hoping was in the little shot glass I was handed) so I tried it.
YUMMY YUM! I couldn’t quite identify the taste, but when the girl behind the counter at the David’s in Polo Park said, “Cake batter,” that was 100 percent correct. I had baked a cake less than 24 hours prior — a fluffy from-scratch yellow cake to make my daughter’s 2-year birthday cake — and that was totally the taste I was getting.
I was there to buy Forever Nuts and Pumpkin Chai and accidentally also walked out with 50g of Mulberry Magic.
Now it’s on my terms. Steeped a touch heavy (a little over 1/2 Tbsp for my 12oz mug), but since I enjoyed it so much in the store, I will be drinking it naked.
I want to stick my finger in the steeper and lick that flavour off. It smells like it should be thick, dripping and contain raw eggs. (Those are all good characteristics.) The tea, too, smells like it will be shocking to drink a liquid instead of a batter.

Ooh, it tastes way different at home. It’s a little hotter and a little heavier. And it tastes like booze! As a pregnant lady, I really appreciate that. It tastes like some fancy after-dinner drink in a fancy restaurant where you’d be all, “Wow, this is delicious. I think I’ll make this at home for guests,” but you never do. THIS I would serve to guests.
I can see craving this around Christmas. And I can see making this Christmas morning to open presents.
So delish.

drank Carrot Cake by DAVIDsTEA

I was really hoping to love this one. I made a travel mug to take with me to my WW meeting last night. And the great thing about all these teas is that having them has reduced my craving for sweets. And they are 0 points if I put nothing in them. So since I like Carrot Cake I was hoping I would love this but no such luck. There is an odd smell to it. I can’t even describe it but it hits my nose and messes with the taste. It is an ok tea. I will try this one again. I put almond milk in it so I will try it plain and see if that changes anything. Maybe I will try baking with it.

Daddyselephant

Yeah, when I got some to try, the girl was super busy and gave me 50g instead of the 26 I asked for. I didn’t notice until I’d left, so I was hoping I’d love it. No such luck. I might try playing with it and latteing it up, but we’ll see. It is definitely an odd tea. I know I could return it, but all tea returns are composted, which makes sense, but I hate to see good tea go to waste just because I don’t care for it.

Cattibrie

I wondered what they did with returned tea. I may see if my mom likes it since she seems to like different tea than I do.

Jenn

Noooooo! DaisyChubb didn’t like this one either and I have little hope that I’ll like it once my order arrives. Le sigh… TheNecessiTeas makes an excellent Carrot Cake Rooibos and I have plenty to share if you’d like to try it :)

Tried this one as a sample last night. I had it in the store months ago as a sample and didn’t like it at all. So when I got the sample in my last order I was thinking of giving it away. But it has so many things I like I decided to say “what the heck” and give it a shot. Well I loved it. So good. I will defiantely be rebuying this one.

Daddyselephant

In my opinion, never, ever based your opinion on a DT instore sample. I don’t know how they mess things up so royally, but they do! I had one manage to ruin Jungle Ju Ju for me ages ago and I’m honestly confused as to how they did it >.<.

Cattibrie

I have learned my lesson now for sure.

drank Secret Weapon by DAVIDsTEA

Got this as a sample in my last order from David’s. I have always wanted to try this one and tonight seemed the best night to do it. Stupid furnace isn’t working. Not sure what the issue is but the house is holding at 60 to 62F and it is supposed to warm up over the weekend and next week so we can wait a bit to get it looked at (like until hubby gets paid next week) And to top it off I am having a case of the sniffles. So hopefully this will warm me up and help me hold of this cold that is coming.

Taste is very nice. Kind of overwhelming with the almonds but I like them so that is ok. I was worried about the licorice because the only licorice tasting thing I like is Sambuca shots but you can’t taste the licorice at all in this. I think this is one I will get a small amount of so that I can have it when in the mood for it as I don’t think this is an every day tea.

Oh my.
Oh my goodness.
I usually pre-amble before I taste the tea but didn’t in this case and I AM IN HEAVEN! (Which either means that I died quite recently or that I sipped the tea before typing.)
I accidentally added way too much sugar — which I’m kind of thinking may be ANY sugar — but hoooooly mackinaw, is this a tasty tea.
I’ve only tried it from the store before and it was too weak for me. I tend to throw in a lot more than the suggested tea. I likes it heavy.
It tastes like a liquid pumpkin bundt cake with that beautiful white cinnamon-bun-style icing drizzled heavily over the top. I couldn’t ask for more from this tea. Even the aftertaste is like a food.
The tea itself smells so sexy that even though I’m currently pregnant (and drinking a black tea, DON’T JUDGE ME), I think I might be having twins now. I want to grab a handful and shove it in my mouth like a snack mix. Crunch, crunch, crunch.
Put a TBSP in a 16oz steep, added a tsp of sugar and a splash of nonfat milk. Next time, no sugar.

Outside: it is unseasonably hot. Like… CRAZY hot for Winnipeg. If you don’t know where Winnipeg is and have seen the movie Fargo, that’s pretty close. We had to turn the air conditioner back on yesterday because it was 83 degrees in our house and my daughter couldn’t sleep. Unfortunately it’s paired with a wind so sharp that it makes even kite-flying impossible. Oh well.
Listening to: Lonely Island with Michael Bolton singing Jack Sparrow. Whoooole load of swears in this song, so like heads-up. (As if you haven’t heard it already.)

Bought this in Toronto because I couldn’t resist the cute packaging; I mean, c’mon, a popcorn box for tea? Love it.

The tea is delish. Unfortunately, it’s a little too light for me—which is saying something considering I am the QUEEN of light, barely-steeped teas. It needs to be steeped for quite awhile and I really just don’t have the patience.

Naturally sweet and a nice little night cap. I’ve definitely sipped while watching movies more than once!

drank Pom Power by DAVIDsTEA

So clearly my first encounter with this tea did not go very well. (See earlier Tasting Note).
However, on a second run – I have to say that I did not give this tea its due the first go-round. I’m still not sure if I absolutely LOVE this one yet, but I’m certainly enjoying it much more than before. A little bit of agave goes a long way with Pom Power, as it cuts the tartness just slightly over a much longer steeping (I put the leaves in my tumbler and went to class and work so it was pretty much steeping all day). The tartness of the real pom seeds is pretty wonderful. I’ll definitely bee looking for this one on the shelf again!
