Oh my. Oh my. Oh my.
I had high hopes for this tea, because it smells fantastic. And it absolutely does not disappoint. I have never had such a deliciously chocolatey tea. I find that the orange and the chocolate balance perfectly in this blend, and neither feels more dominant than the other.
For me, I’m first hit with the deep taste of dark chocolate, followed by a grittiness that I suspect is the puerh, with final notes of orange/citrus that linger well past swallowing.
It is my first puerh so I can’t comment on that, but this tea has skyrocketed to the top of my faves from DT.

I generally dislike minty teas, but I enjoy this one quite a bit. I think theres a good balance between the black tea base and the flavours.
I think it has a very nice sweetness to it, and I don’t think it needs any sweetener. I will probably pick up a bit more when we’ve finished our 25g bag.

I still need to pick up some, our store was out last time I was there. Booo!

This was the first time we had tried it, and my partner absolutely loves it. I suspect he will be coming home with a big tin of it soon!

Experience buying from @Ashley: I bought this tea from Ashley when she was selling all of her tea. I received the tea quickly through the mail and my package was filled with many surprises. Thank you Ashley!

Note: I got this as a sample from Ashley and brewed it up not long after receiving it.

Appearance and aroma of dry leaf: looks like small nuts and dried pieces of fruit; smelled sweet, herbal, and fruity.

Brewing guidelines: 2 tsp, 2 cups of water; I used a metal basket strainer inside a 16 oz ceramic cup, such that I put a lid over the top to keep the heat in. Cup was warmed before steeping. Stevia added.
…………….1st: 195, 2’
…………….2nd: near boiling, 3’
…………….3rd: boiling, 5’
…………….4th: boiling, 10’

Color and aroma of tea liquor: beautiful pale red, reminiscent of the color of watermelon! Smelled great, too! One odd thing: there were very small green bits floating on top which must have been flavorings small enough to make it though the strainer.

Flavor of tea liquor: I iced this, per the directions, putting all four steepings together in a pitcher with ice, and chilling it overnight. The resulting flavor was on the mild side (expected due to the way I combined all four steepings), but sweet and flavorful: just like watermelon!

Overall: I was impressed with how it looked and tasted like watermelon. A great iced tea for watermelon fans!

I bought this off of Ashley! I have yet to have it brought to me from the stated, but my brother (who currently is holding it for me) says it smells amazing! I can’t wait to receive it!

There’s definitely some chocolate in this tea! (I would know… I ate one of the chocolate chips, just to make sure they were actually chocolate chips!)

I’m a huge choco-mint lover, and I do believe this tea does it justice. The aroma is delightful, but the flavor isn’t as strong as it smells. I might consider brewing more of it next time I have it, but it’s still good when subtle, too.

This is my day #1 of the David’s Tea “24 Days of Tea” advent calendar.

The smell of this tea dry had me absolutely salivating. It smelled so delicious I had a hard time not just eating it right out of the bag. I really enjoyed Mom’s Apple Pie, and so I was looking forward to this one.
I just made myself a cup, followed the directions and steeped two tsp for 7 minutes. As I lift it to my nose, it no longer smells enchanting. The water is murky (I couldn’t tell you the colour, I made it in a black mug…but I can see that its murky). The first sip is blech. I am not in love with this tea.
It’s a bit weak, but bitter and with a taste of something like…dirt? I’m not quite sure. Whatever it is, it isn’t good. I can smell and taste the cinnamon, but it almost seems like ‘cheap’ cinnamon, if that makes any sense? Not like a quality ingredient.
I am really disappointed with this tea. I’m glad I only got a 25g bag, and I’m also glad that I stocked up on Mom’s Apple Pie!
To be fair, my partner said he liked this tea, but he only had one sip and gave no indication about what it was that he liked about it (he also seemed quite apologetic to be disagreeing with me!). He did agree however that the dry smell and the taste coming out of the cup were basically nothing alike.

So following the lead of…someone, I forget who, I steeped this in apple juice on the stovetop. Well, I used some apple cider that I had picked up recently that was way too sweet. This cut down on the sweetness nicely, and added a whole new layer of flavors, it was very yummy! Definitely going to steep longer next time.

I was expecting this one to be a little bit more chocolatey… but I’m still enjoying it. I love that there’s a slight spiciness to this one, and when I steeped it at home I broke up half a cinnamon stick into the basket and let it steep with the tea. Fantastic.
I take this one clear with agave. But I’m thinking about trying it as a latte at some point as well.

I was super happy when I found out that DT was bringing out four new permanent Oolongs, I had to run out and try a few. I’m really big on banana lately and this tea is marvelous. I got a 26g bag just to check it out and I will definitely be going back for more. The banana is not as present in the steeped tea as I would like, but I’m still working out steep times and number of re-steeps. I love this one straight or a bit of agave, I find that the agave brings out the banana a little bit more.

I had this as a sample TOTD and I liked it. Which it surprising because pu’erh teas and I are not friendly. The dry leaves really do smell exactly like one of the Terry’s Chocolate Oranges! This smell/flavour is still present in the steeped tea, but mellowed by the pu’erh and made a little bit earthier, but not quite as much as some other ones I’ve tried.

I’m thinking a possible future purchase…. but I definitely want to try this one as a cup of tea in the store to make sure.

Not an earl grey fan, but I didn’t find this tea too terrible. What I really liked was the citrus note to make this tea nicer to drink. I don’t have much to say about this one lol

I found this tea to be really confusing. I didn’t really get a chocolate taste out of it. This tastes like Chinese five spice powder, which I don’t like unfortunately. It has the licorice, sweet, spicy taste that tries to make up a chocolate taste. My tastebuds unfortunately don’t like it and it’s not going to be a repurchase for me.

I have 10 g of this but haven’t tried it yet because, despite the chocolate in the name, it’s not calling to me! I find it really odd/interesting that the ingredients list carob and no chocolate. Carob doesn’t taste much like chocolate at all to me though my parents used to try to get me to like it as a chocolate alternative (health nut parents).

I know what you mean. The sales rep at DAVIDsTEA kinda felt the same about the tea as well. It’s a weird blend.

One of my favorite teas! The more I drink it the more I want it. Someone told me to try it iced, have never had one iced before, but really see this one being great iced. Will definetly try that soon.

I like this tea because of the lemony scent and smells really nice. I also find it makes you feel good inside and does not feel heavy or strong like some teas. I am on my second steeping now and will be resteeping right after this note…yum!

Tried this for a second time and it is good, but not my favorite. I think I am realizing that certain chocolate teas are not my favorite types. After the second buble cup of tea, I wanted something different so I went to one of my more favorite teas.

All in all good, had bought 25 grams to taste and will most likely not buy it again.

chocolate and black tea gives a bit of a coffee flavour for me, so this is what i drink when i get those rare coffee cravings. would probably be nice with a spash of creamy soy milk too.
the rose flavour does come through for me in the aftertaste, and strawberry top notes.
very nice chocolate tea :)

Lives up to the expectations, absolutely delicious! It does taste of candy cane, but the black tea adds a nice richness. I also love the sweet taste it leaves in the mouth. But don’t steep it twice… I usually steep all my blacks twice, but this one failed the test, the second steep was just… very blah! But hey, fair enough, the first steep is lovely enough!

I’m sad to say this this one, like Chocolate Chili Chai, is growing old on me, OR is a reblend and the flavouring is different and tastes too artificial. So sad…I might have to ask DT if this is a reblend or something. It might just be me. This has been a winter staple for many years now…dropping the rating some. :(
