from the advent calendar pile!
it’s quite a lovely pile.
i really like this one more than i thought i would have. citrus and airy. kinda like a light and breezy early grey ya know. these dammann teas are a joy to try.

hey!
do you guys have a milk frother?
has anyone tried that little david’s tea one?
is there one you have seen and recommend?

Josie Jade

I have the Aerolatte little stick frother and love it! I looked at ones at World Market, but this one seemed a bit more sturdy. I got it at Bed Bath and Beyond with a 20% off coupon a little over a year ago and I’m happy with it!

Shmiracles

hey thanks for the feedback! that looks like a good one :) and the reviews on amazon are all pretty positive.

Fjellrev

I have never bought one but I like the idea of Bed Bath and Beyond. I heard Ikea’s is ok too, but don’t quote me on it.

Advent calendar day 24. Backlog from this morning.

Cherry almond, yep. That’s the scent I get from the dry leaf. I wish I could pick up on the ginger, though – I am guessing that I won’t get it in the flavor if I don’t get it in the scent.

Steep notes: no additives, below parameters.

Sure enough, cherry and almond are at the forefront in the taste. It’s a pretty flavorful blend, too. I feel like I’ve had some iteration of this before in some of their other blends, though. No ginger to speak of, and I went the longest I could while steeping.

Eh. It was good to have (especially because the only other tea I have is my beloved Frissy and I’m traveling until Dec. 31st) but it’s not the Noel a Venise that I was so hoping I’d get for Christmas. (Sigh – guess I’ll just have to order some!)

This is just lovely, and Day 13 in Dammann Freres’ advent calendar. I was so very happy with this purchase, even though it was a bit pricey for samples. The packaging, the labeling, the teas themselves – stunning. All of it.

This is a wonderful tea, and I’m contemplating buying more of it. Very light floral notes from the jasmine enhance a light black tea base, with something tropical and fruity in the mix. It makes me think of the black teas I’ve had at many an Asian restaurant, but with an added layer of complexity and sweetness.

EDIT: Oooh! The pineapple pops with sweetener, backed up by the jasmine. So lovely. Almost wish this was a exclusively a green tea, although it’s still lovely on it’s own.

Tea #32 from the Here’s Hoping TTB

I generally have a love/hate relationship with chocolate teas. I want to love them, but end up hating nearly all of them for a variety of reasons. This tea really stood out because it wasn’t trying imitate hot chocolate like so many others do. You can clearly taste the chocolate and there is a smoothness about it that reminds me of the texture of chocolate, but overall the flavor is much more subtle, with a hint of nuttiness. What really impressed me is that this was a keemun base, which I don’t normally care for. I’m not overly fond of smoky teas, but the added smoke from the base only improved on my experience with this tea.

I may have to pick some of this up when I go to Paris this June. At the rate I’m going the list of tea I want to bring back is going to be huge!

Short Sorceress

Back at work today. Drank lots of Damman Freres noel tea from my sister’s advent calendars and they were all lovely. Real fruits and tea flavor in the middle of winter. Watched the Sherlock minisode before bed, and have lots of holiday ficish daydreaming in my head for multiple fandoms.

dammann advent calendar day 24!! Yay!
I’m so glad I got this calendar. I’m gonna go online and see if they have some for sale or something. It’s just great to have all these delicious teas individually wrapped and available.
Happy Mid-Winter celebration everybody!

MissB

Only place you can get it with reasonable shipping to North America is at Vendome Cadeau, and they do have this tea as I ordered it in a package set. I’d recommend grabbing the bags however, as (a) they’re inexpensive, and (b) MUCH more inexpensive than the gorgeous, albeit highly priced sets/tins.

I’ve been wanting to try this one for a while!
And now I have two samples yay. Even more important because at the moment I’m a little holiday drunk.
I drank the dammann Christmas Tea. Then a white russian imperial stout beer named after The Dude in The Big Lebowski. And now I’m drinking my Tony Stark tea as oddree and I watch Pacific Rim and I also read Avengers fic. (Multitasking!) And earlier we watched the original Total Recall.
It’s been a really busy day yo.
I’m having a great time!

day 14 of the advent calendar that APPARENTLY I’m drinking all 24 teas today.
the problem is that if you asked me, at the moment, I would tell you that all their xmas teas are cherry teas. they really like cherry teas. just think fruit cake I suppose.

I sang a fruit cake song in chorus when I was in 6th grade. i think i sang the part of cinnamon.

Definitely apples and a little pear.
Goes nicely with ALL the christmas cookies I ate for breakfast. Haha

Day 24, but I had it this morning.

Merry Christmas everyone! I am sitting at the airport trying to reconstruct the memory of this tea that I bolted down before heading out the door.

The smell of this dry was familiar from all the other DF teas in the advent calendar. I think it was the caramel flavoring, but it doesn’t actually smell like caramel- it’s more an indistinct sweetness.

One steeped I get orange (another signature DF flavoring). I drank this without looking at the ingredients and interestingly tasted cranberry orange. I guess that was how I interpreted the maraschino cherry. Oh well- cranberry orange is more festive.

I wasn’t too careful with the steeping on this so it did come off a bit astringent. I can’t say I’m overly in love with it but as always it’s nice to try something new.

I have one or two teas from previous days that I need to drink and log but otherwise I’m done with the advent calendar….it was super fun and I got an awesome introduction to French teas, so a win all around!

Dammann Advent Calendar, Day 24

Merry Christmas everyone! I saved this tea for today!

More cherry, of course. They love their cherry! Anyway, I drank this one with breakfast and it was pretty tasty despite the cherry. I am once again sad that the calendar is over!

Also I drank this out of a new handmade tea mug that I got for Christmas!

Dammann advent calendar, day 24. I expected this one to be the last one of the set. I love that the sachet packaging is red with fancy lettering. Also I am so sad that it’s over! I want more!

Thas maraschino in it, which probably means I won’t love it to pieces, but I’m hoping all the other flavors (caramel, orange, pineapple[!]) balance it out. Steeped, it smells pretty much caramelly and fruity. I’m not sure I can pick out individual fruits, but cherry and orange certainly make sense. I liked this one. Not love, because the blend of fruits wasn’t perfect for me, but I certainly enjoyed it a lot. I am a sucker for their caramel! But this was a nice tea to finish it off and celebrate!

good morning! merry christmas!
I have tried SO MANY TEAS over the past few days and haven’t made notes for any, booooo :(
So even though I don’t like posting from my phone I’m gonna try to do it more often.

Yesterday’s movies include 2 documentaries, ‘The Woodmans’ and ‘Cutie and The Boxer’. Both about artists. Both very good.
Today I’m gonna start with ‘56 up’. It’s a series where the filmmaker interviews the same group of British children every 7 years. When I worked at a video store in Philadelphia I got hooked.

I drank this tea last night as I watched an episode of ‘my cat from hell’ at 1am. I had just learned about it at dinner and I was curious. What can I say :)

MissB

7 Up (and all of the following years) is excellent!

Shmiracles

yesterday i got a friend newly hooked on the UP series too. and then today she got another person hooked! spreading the word…
it’s easy to recommend them when they are all on netflix. :)

Had some yesterday before packing up the rest to share. Really, really oversteeped this, and it was much nicer cooled than hot. Hot, it was a bit, um, flowery for my tastes, yet cooled it was sweet and floral, however pleasant and sweet. Not a huge MUST have, but it was really lovely. Leaving it as a high rating, as I likely ruined the cup with the long steep time.

Officially the most expensive tea I’ve ever purchased. It also came in the 2013 advent calendar, however I think I sent that mini package along so that someone else could try it, too. For future reference: even though the Christmas packaging is stunning, buy this in the plain 100g bags on Cadeau Vendomme in the future.

This is a gorgeous tea, and takes up a lot of space. Used 1.5 tsp for the cup just in case. It brews up a light yellow, and smells like honeyed cherries – an unusual yet breathtaking smell to me.

Drinking this is like art: it’s savored, taken in, and enjoyed fully. I normally shy away from cherry teas (too medicinal usually, and kinda yuck), however this one? Light and true cherry, with something sweet and gentle tickling my palate. It’s beautiful, and I’m really glad I tried some tonight.

Day 23!

I have not yet done day 22 becuase I forgot it at home yesterday and then this morning I realized it was a herbal, which I won’t drink during the day.

I love this tea. I had wanted to order a bag of it from Dammann when I ordered this advent calendar but my Steepster wish list wasn’t working (no surprise there) and I didn’t realize this one was on the list until it was too late. Ahhh, next year I guess.

This tea is a lovely black base. There are hints of cherry with some floral. Makes me think cherry blossom. Mmmmmm. The black base is smooth but there is just a little kick at the end of the sip. This tea is slightly creamy, but not really in a dairy sense. Maybe it is the almond. It is thick. There is just a little hint of sweet ginger. Kind of like candied ginger. It is very faint.

I will have to savour this cup for a while.

Day 23!

Christmas in Paris, yes please!

This one is a nice smooth black base, I am getting a slight metallic tinge from the ceylon. I am getting sweet cherry and smooth almond. I am unfortunately not getting any ginger, I think this one would be quite delicious with ginger, well it is already delicious. Ha ha. The flavouring is light and compliments that black base very nicely. The pink cornflowers seem to provide some thickness to the liquor. I am imagining walking through the Paris streets in the evening with a bit of snow falling around me. Le sigh!

It’s almost time for Christmas Day tea. I am excited to see what it is. I’m assuming, best for last.

Dammann Advent Calendar, Day 23

It seems the French like cherries around Christmas, or at least there are a lot of teas with cherry in the calendar. Given that I don’t really care for cherry, that makes it a little tough for me sometimes, but apparently Dammann can get me to enjoy even cherry.

I drank this one and liked it this year. Yes, there was cherry, but it wasn’t too fakey and it paired nicely with the marzipan and light spices. Apparently last year I found it similarly drinkable despite the cherry.

I’m probably going to save the christmas tea (today’s tea) for tomorrow on Christmas!
