drank Apple Cinnamon Chai by Cuppa Geek

I know this is just personal preference, but I feel like this one leans too much toward apple and not enough toward chai. The apple is quite sweet and overly fruity. The spices are too mild. I really only taste maybe a hint of ginger. It’s definitely doing its own thing rather than copying the usual apple cinnamon style, but I don’t personally love it. The black tea is very light, and I enjoyed it slightly more with added milk.

drank Parker's Blend by Cuppa Geek

This is a really smooth EG creme. It’s supposed to also taste like lavender, but there was almost no lavender in my sample, so I guess they’d have to amp up the amount in order for that to be discernible. But the bergamot and creme flavors are delicious and meld perfectly with the black tea. It tasted best warm with some milk. I’m sad I only had a small sample because this one is pretty great!

drank Birthday Cake by Cuppa Geek

Huh, I expected this one to be more special, but really, I only taste a boring, plain, somewhat astringent black tea. Hot, there was nothing cakey or desserty about it. I don’t even taste vanilla. With additions, it can be decent, but I’ve had much better cake teas. I added cake batter flavoring the last time I had it to give it a boost. Now I’m drinking the rest chilled, and I can’t tell if it’s the tea or the flavoring I added (probably the latter) but it tastes pretty good!

drank Jaffa Cakes by Cuppa Geek

This flavor is pretty mild and a little indistinct. I guess I get a little dessertiness, and since I know it’s supposed to be orange and chocolate, I can sort of picture it, but I’m not sure how present those flavors actually are. I’m able to get two steeps each time, and I feel somewhat mixed about it. Some sips do taste pretty desserty and decent (and a little like jaffa cakes). Other sips taste slightly metallic and strange. And some sips just taste so medium. I add extra chocolate chips to my steeping basket, and I always drink it with milk.

drank Blackberry Lavender by Cuppa Geek

This blackberry flavoring is so strong! And it’s very clearly blackberry, which is fun to see. It’s a tiny bit artificial, but I can forgive it. I don’t taste much lavender, but maybe I’ll add some to my second steep – it’s just a hint, whereas I’d prefer 50/50. I’m drinking this cool with milk. I’m enjoying it for that strong blackberry flavor, but I don’t think I’d order it again.

This is pretty mildly flavored, but pleasant. Coming through, there’s a bit of black tea, a bit of mint, and adding milk provides the creamy aspect to make it sort of like ice cream. I wish all the flavors were stronger, but it’s nice enough.

I wanted a black tea for the #cuppateaathon but it was late so I didn’t want a super intense black tea. This seemed more parts other ingredients than black base so it fit the bill. Thank you Sil for sharing!

This is fruity and minty. I get lime and mint mostly but some other fruits underneath. Nice enough but it doesn’t really stand out to me as super exciting or memorable. Still glad I got to try it.

drank Berries N'Cream by Cuppa Geek

Sipdown!
I don’t think I was impressed with this the last time I brewed it, but today it’s got a nice berry flavor with some tart hibiscus. I used a bit more leaf to finish this off, so maybe that’s the way to go. Certainly not my favorite Cuppa Geek tea, and I won’t need to replenish this in my cupboard, but its not a bad cup.

I’ve had this tea so many times and never really felt inspired to write a note. It’s sort of toasty tasting and mildly desserty. The chocolate is too mild for me to taste it specifically. I didn’t know there was black tea in here at all until I read the ingredients. It’s just not really exciting or special enough to seek out over other options.

The flavor here is mostly minty. I wish I’d had it on the day I made it because I’m afraid the mint is now obscuring some of the nuances that may have once been there. Cool, I taste mint and a little of something else.

Ha I’m always complaining about this particular pumpkin flavoring. I ordered all of these teas in the same shipment because I usually love pumpkin, but now I know better and won’t order pumpkin from CG again. So this should be the last of my complaints! Again, the pumpkin is too fruity for me. However, I enjoy the flavorings it’s paired with in this tea more than usual. Maybe since this time it’s going for cupcake instead of chai, I don’t find the flavor contrast to be as off-putting. With milk, it’s sweet and fruity and fine.

drank Strawberry Shortcake by Cuppa Geek

Nice fresh strawberry flavor. I don’t really taste the green tea underneath. It’s not too tart at all, but also not particularly cakey. I put it in the fridge, and I think the flavor developed nicely in there. Now I taste a marshmallowy undercurrent along with the pleasantly tart strawberry. I also taste the slightly grassy green tea. I don’t think it’s special enough to order again, but I like it. The sugar sprinkles made it sparkly. This is a refreshing fruity green tea, but I would have liked some cake flavor!

I steeped it too long the first time I had this, leading to a somewhat bitter cup. Luckily almond milk and sugar saved it. It’s not really my sort of thing. It’s quite similar to the CG badger house flavor I had recently. I just find the flavor profile sort of simple and boring. There’s the rooibos, and I taste some toastiness, but I don’t really taste chocolate or dessert flavors. I’d just like to taste more going on in this one!

V is for…Vanilla Mint Ice Cream

Thank you Sil!

This was nice but the mint was stronger than I would have liked. It made this a touch medicinal and astringent but otherwise it had a nice vanilla flavour.

Thank you Sil!

I decided to make this one today because I got cool new glasses but they aren’t double walled so I figured they may be hot and figured this wasn’t brewed at boiling so I could possibly still hold the cup. Check out the pic here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CVySPXJL1dB/?utm_medium=copy_link

That said the tea was alright but nothing special. Soft vanilla but a lot of green tea grassiness that I could live without. Fine but not a favourite so I enjoyed it while it lasted but likely won’t seek this out again.

Thank you Sil!

This is an alright vanilla tea. It’s got a twang at the end from the green tea but the front end is vanilla marshmallow. Not a favourite but okay.

This has the same pumpkin flavoring that I dislike, but it’s decently covered up with spices. It ends up an unremarkable, but decently tasty chai. Of course, I don’t think the weird fruitiness of the pumpkin flavoring goes well here. I had it warm with milk, and it was fine, though I might just serve the remainder to guests rather than drink it myself since I’m pretty biased against the flavoring.

gmathis

Pumpkin things are starting to pop up already around here. My bones have been aching for fall, but not necessarily for pumpkin just yet.

AJRimmer

Ha, I’m one of those people who craves pumpkin all year long, so I’m definitely excited to see it popping up places!

Mastress Alita

I’m a “pumpkin-all-year” person, too.

I have the uncaffeinated version of this tea, which uses green rooibos. It’s a nice, light, herbal chai. It doesn’t need milk. There’s something really refreshing about this combination. And sometimes the spices do sneak up and turn out a little spicier than anticipated! This may be the only green rooibos chai I’ve had before, but I’m enjoying it so much, I’ll have to seek out others in the future!

gmathis

Thanks for reminding me that I have a little of the unleaded version under my roof. It’s been a while, but this is another one of those blends with a lot going on, but all of it melds together very pleasantly.

AJRimmer

I agree! I’m a little bummed I only have one serving left!

The main flavor is a fresh-tasting coconut. Cold, it’s very refreshing and nice. There might be a bit of other fruit backing up the coconut because it doesn’t taste thin or anything. It’s simple, but good.

The lemon here tastes too artificial and weird for me. There’s not much going on, just that off-putting lemon. I don’t taste any lavender, though I could of course add some if I wanted to drink this again. I added some milk, which tamed the lemon a bit, but I’m just not loving this. Cuppa Geek usually has such a delicious lemon flavor, so I’m not sure what went wrong here. I also don’t taste anything like cookies.
