I actually had this in my pile of teas to get rid of, but I decided to retry it since I couldn’t clearly remember my first opinion of it. There’s a pretty strong burnt flavor. I mellowed that out with some milk. I feel like it manages to evoke both butterscotch and caramel. It’s sweet, and I really do like it. I’m keeping it after all! This one is from Ost.
I thought I would finish off this sample and continue my quest to reduce the number of teas I have (lol as if I will ever do that).
This has a strong and realistic pineapple flavour. The black base is flavourful, but not overpowering. I can taste hints of floral and fruity flavours from the base. Slightly brisk/bitter, and the pineapple is somewhat sour/acidic. I think this is best iced and with sweetener, but I do really like the taste.
Flavors: Floral, Fruity, Pineapple, Sour, Tropical
Preparation
I added a little bit of a chocolate soy milk protein shake to sweeten it/enhance the flavor. I think the soymilk works really well it adds a lot of creaminess, some sweetness, and enhances the spices. The previous brews of this were very unpleasant. I get hints of cola from the spices in this cup. This cup was pretty yum.

I’m really behind on tasting notes and am trying to catch up. To use this tea up I’ve been recently mixing it with DavidsTea’s Kashmiri Chai. At first I expected that it wouldn’t pair well since this has a black tea base and the Kashmiri is a green tea base. With some honey and milk though it actually works really well. This tea by itself was pretty hard to drink. I also don’t care for the Kashmiri Chai by itself either it was ordered by a family member.

This is a sipdown of a sample I’ve had for a while now. I can’t remember where I got it from, but thank you to whoever sent it to me.
I taste the woody, Earthy roasted mate and a brisk black tea. While the black tea is a touch bitter, it isn’t undrinkable. I get some lightly citrus orange/lemon notes, but no chocolate. Maybe this is due to the age of the sample, or maybe my sample had no chocolate chips or cocoa nibs in it. YMMV
Flavors: Bark, Bitter, Citrus, Dark Bittersweet, Orange, Roasted, Wood
Sipdown!
I brewed this one iced, and enjoyed it that way. Flavourful black base, quite fruity (black cherry, berry, pomegranate), a little bit creamy/thick, malty, grenadine. If you want a black tea that brews in a way you really taste the black base, this is a tea for you!
Flavors: Berries, Cherry, Fruity, Grenadine, Malt, Overripe Cherries, Sweet, Tannin, Thick
Preparation
1 tsp leaf, 500mL coldbrewed for 45 minutes
Definitely lives up to it’s name. It tastes like Irish cream, but with a prominent coconut note. The black base really comes through as a coldbrew, it is a little bit woody, a little bit of a roasted oolong and tobacco undertone, highly oxidized (definitely black), sweetness of burnt sugar/molasses.
Flavors: Coconut, Cream, Irish Cream, Molasses, Sweet, Tobacco, Wood

I may be going through a personal tough time, but my professional life is looking rosy. Its my first day as a full time in an office I’ve been temping in. I am delighted, as I love this office, and its a really good place to be. I love the town, I love the office, I love the coworkers, and I get a raise, too!
I’m very happy in this regard.
My new boss brought me a cup of this tea from the café next door, to celebrate day one. It is so nice of him, and I enjoyed every sip.
A very auspicious sign.
So I hopped next door again to grab another cup of this. I was desperate for tea and I thought I’d try this again, to refine my thoughts.
Well, I got a non-tea barista. You know the ones, the poor creatures who know that tea is technically on the menu, but are much more prepared to create latte art for you.
So, when I got my cup, I sat for a bit, letting it steep. Or so I thought. When I removed the lid, lo and behold there was not teabag in the cup (they used the paper filters with the leaf in it, before). Just a pale amber liquid. So I’d just been letting my cup cool, with no added steeping benefits.
So it was weaker than I liked today, but still pretty nicely flavored. Maybe I’ll try again at a later date.
I’ve popped next door to the little café to get some tea. I’m exhausted today, and can’t wait to be done with the whole day.
I’d never heard of this tea, so I was excited to try it. (And the café has loose leaf! Huzzah!)
This is a fruity blend, but its not a particularly sweet blend, I’d say. Its a more mellow fruitiness, and the black base is pretty mellow too.
I’d say its enjoyable, but I’m not overwhelmed by it. But I’d certainly go next door and have some more!
Wow, crazy aroma, very strong, delicious and almost sweet smell of licorice and mint. Taste is much like it smells, although a more faint mint on initial, stronger on the finish. Sweeter than I thought it’d be, not sure where that is coming from, not much ginger taste, surprisingly, but a nicely full herbal body. The interesting flavor changes as you swallow and coats the back of throat with the sweet pleasantly. A nice, energizing tea for being caffeine free.
Flavors: Herbs, Licorice, Mint, Sugarcane

Received this as a sample from Culinary Teas. I think it’s sourced from the Metropolitan Tea Company, since so many of their teas are, but it doesn’t explicitly say so on the bag. Overall, this tastes good but pretty ordinary. Rather than a gunpowder green, the base is a very finely chopped leaf, and it tastes like the mint in question is peppermint.
Sipdown. My laptop just bit the dust so now I’m discovering the woes of doing everything by phone not to mention sticker shock at computer prices. Why is it so fun to shop for tea and so completely unfun to shop for computers. If I look at one more spec sheet I think I’m going to lose it.
Anyway there’s nothing wrong with this tea but it is sadly underqualified to soothe me from all this computer stress. I think I may have to resort to whiskey.
Picked this up because I trying to find a few tisanes to balance out my black tea collection. I think this is sourced from Metropolitan Tea Company as well, but not positive. This is a pretty decent blueberry tea — I could do without the hibiscus, but it’s mild enough here that it doesn’t ruin it.
Preparation
Before reading the history and details of this tea, I would’ve fought to the death and said it was an “aged white”. Or, “smoked white”. These are quickly becoming my favorite kind of white teas, and the only ones I drink.
Alas, this isn’t agred, or smoked, but it does have that quality to it. Thicker, richer, fuller bodied, sweet, yet light and airy at the same time. Plus, the leaves were stunning – long, loosely rolled, and slightly fuzzy.
Thank you shezza for another amazing find in my tea journey.
Flavors: Apricot, Smoked, Sweet, Thick

The morning sipdown!
I had a lousy night of sleep, though I’m not quite sure why, and I needed something powerful this morning.
And this was not it. Whoops. I let my sipdown fever get in the way of wakefulness, and I have ended up with this, which is a rather uninspired cup.
Ah well. Its gone now, and I’ll move on to something mor flavorful.
