This was my 1st hot “tea”. My cousin is a BIG tea drinker. She had a tea bridal shower and gave tea bags as wedding favors. Even though I don’t drink herbals alone, I keep a box of this incase I run out of loose leaf mints. I mixed this one w/ white cucumber.
Preparation
A nice cup of tea with its balance spice and sweetness. I will agree that this tea is addictive, because once you have a cup you can’t stop. This reminds me off the lattes that I use to have, but then my doctor requested that I lay off the caffeine. Besides that I think I need another cup of it, LOL.
Preparation
I added a few rock crystals in the cup while this was brewing. I added a splash of milk and viola: a perfect cup of vanilla chai.
This is one tea I will not run out of, when I start to get close to being out, I buy another box. This one tea has been my go to tea when all else fails to impress my taste buds. Not a fancy tea, but a good one:)
Preparation
Comfort in a cup. After all the teas that I have sampled, this one tea remains my favorite. The vanilla and chai are in perfect harmony. Had this tea two ways tonight: plain and traditional chai method on stovetop. Yummy both ways:)
I am slowly getting back into wanting hot tea. It got so darn hot here this summer that the thought of hot tea turned me off (it did not help that I got sick drinking PG Tips this summer…I really hate that too, My tips no longer appeal to me…sad) but I am slowly emerging back into the tea scene. But my tastes seemed to have changed. The teas that I liked iced, I don’t like hot. I guess that is normal but I wish I had realized that before I placed my last GM order…sigh…and I don’t want milk in my tea anymore…bad memories…another sigh…
After my Chai last night, I thought I would try this one out this morning. The taste is very similar to 52 Teas Chocolate Chai…well minus the chocolate (which honestly I did not detect chocolate) one thing is missing though the spice factor. So, next time I am going to use one vanilla chai teabag(emptied) and 1 heaping tsp of CC and see if that helps the spice.
aha, the chai experiment…my inner scientist is jumping like an electron!
Had this tea this afternoon. I had to try out my new baby teapot and she works great!!!
This tea is one of my all time favs. Just the right amount of spice and vanilla, the black tea base is in the background allowing the other flavors to take center stage. I drank this plain today. Yum.
Preparation
Again, this morning! I may have found my breakfast tea. This morning I prepared it stovetop in my Corningware sauce maker pan. Much easier cleanup than the teapot. Since discovering this stovetop method, I don’t find myself constantly wanting another cup of tea. It seems I was always on a search for a particular taste…which ironically was in my cupboard the whole time!
Did not think I would want this again this morning, but woke up thinking about how to make it better than yesterday.
I got the recipe down perfect this morning. In my 6 cup corningware teapot: 3/4 cup water, 1/4 cup milk, open 1 teabag. Bring to a rolling boil. Simmer 2-4 minutes. Strain and enjoy! Perfection in a cup. Smooth, spicey (but not too much). The texture reminds of the homemade hot chocolate my Mother used to make, but without all the calories:) Preparing this tea in this manner really helps take the edges off the black tea base.
In my constant search for a breakfast tea, I decided to make this in a traditional stovetop method. Creamy and good were the end results. You know me, I thought it was too mild, so I made it again with 2 teabags and poured the contents out of the teabag. Better, spicier. I do suspect that 1 teabag is enough for 6 ounces of water and 1 ounce of milk. The key though is to pour the contents out of the teabag! Could this be my new morning tea? I don’t know yet. I did enjoy it, but it was not my beloved Sinharaja.
I was craving a dessert tea tonight. After rummaging around in my tea cupboard, I chose this bagged Chai. The smell in the dry tea bag is spicey and sweet. After a 3 minute brew, the color in my cuppa is a nice amber.
Added a wee splash of milk and viola, a dessert in my cuppa. My mouth is filled with the spiciness of the brew. The black tea base is nice, not bitter. Adding the milk made the tea creamy and NOW, I can really taste the vanilla popping in my mouth. This is simply delicious and exactly what I was craving tonight.
The best part of this tea is the price point: $2.50ish a box for 20 tea bags. Bigelowe remains my favorite grocery store brand bagged tea. My cupboard has never know a day without this tea and while I took a “vacation” from this tea, I am reminded today that this simple, inexpensive tea is still in my top 10 list.
This is my favorite tea. Love the smoothness and the smell. I have gone through more boxes of this tea than any other
12/17/09 Yummy. This is hands down my favorite tea. The smell is fantastic and the cup I had today was perfection in a cup. (It tasted especially good after the cup of Constant Comment I had this afternoon at work). Smooth vanilla spice flavor. I will always have this in my/ cupboard.
12/18/09 Must be a bad tea bag…smell was awful, taste was worse:(
12/21/09 On my second cup of this tea tonight. So delicious after supper. Just the right amount of sweetness. Hot tea is always great with chocolate and tonight I am nibbling on peppermint bark with my tea:)1/2/10:)
Preparation
I got this tea not expecting much, and I’m pleasantly surprised at how good it is. It’s not my favorite, but the ginger is bold and warm and the lemon has a nice soft tone.
Preparation
Definitely a tea that needs milk in my opinion. I did not care for it without milk at all. I originally found this in a Christmas Tree Shop and wish I had purchased more than 1 box as I don’t feel the need to order a case of 6 boxes at a time from the Bigelow website.
Steeped in 3oz water then added 3oz milk. I’ve had this steeped in just water and it just tastes like a cinnamon spice black tea. Adding milk is the only way to get an egg nog like taste. Better yet, steep in 3oz water then add 3oz egg nog.
