drank Pina Colada Honeybush by 52teas

WOW!! This is fantastic! I had this after dinner, and the coconut scent is everywhere. I LOVE coconut! I love pina colada! I also sense the pineapple flavor in this as well. I love the shape of honeybush with all the little wood-like shavings, large white coconut flakes, and chunks of pineapple. This is a great blend! I will def be making a purchase in the future! WOO!! :)

I really enjoy this tea in the mornings at work, it has a sweet maple smell pouring out with it from the bag into my cup. The tea liquor doesn’t mimic a pancake, but it has exactly the amount of flavoring I would want and has real artificial taste. It’s a little buttery with a hint of doughy at the end, overall strong black taste, fair astringency, is a wonderful caffine wake me up. This will be a regular tea for me, finally a replacement for my calorie laden morning coffee!

Received this as a sample from Teasuce. I’m a little picky when it comes to flavored black teas. I like this, but I really don’t get the pancake from it,just maple syrup. I drank this with some pancakes and still it just did not do it for me. Its a nice treat, but not something I would buy.

drank Smoky Chocolate by 52teas

I had a little bit of this sample from Amanda left in the bin…and decided to purge…(such an ugly word)…the rest from my ‘Monster Tea Cupboard’. (My tea cupboard is alive and Claws at me with Talons and Tenticles as I walk past it in the kitchen! Creepy!)I think it’s time for some of the naughtier tea’s to ‘Another One Bite’s the Dust’ and some of the tablespoon sized hanger-on-ers to ‘Hit the Road Jack’!(You know you have um too!)

I found little hanger-on-er Smoky Chocolate 52teas in a little zip packet hiding on the top shelf bin. It smiled a half smile at me and turned swiftly to slink back into the darker part of the cupboard. I swiftly scooped Smoky up and poured the leaves into my brew basket before little 52tea knew what happened. (I did hear a tiny voice “…” explative…!)
Boiling water and a 4 minute steep transformed my friend into a medium smoke liquor tasting malty but not very chocolatey.
The flavor is pleasant…not bad, but not chocolate or mocha or cocoa.
I had likened the flavor in my first review to a Necco Wafer Chocolate Candy, and that’s where I stand. A little chalky, malty and smoky.
The recommendation would have to be that this is a smoky tea and that it’s smooth and fairly good tasting. The saving grace is that the flavoring used was not bad and leaves no sour aftertaste!

Adios little tea!

Thanks to Amanda for this sweet sample! I had my first Lapsang Souchong at my local tea house (Happy Lucky’s) last month and really loved it. When Amanda and I arranged our swap and I saw this Smoky Chocolate I was excited to try it. You either love or hate the smoky tea’s it appears to me, and I’m a lover. I read the other reviews and agree that this is lacking on the chocolate taste. The smoke is not too powerful at all which would be a relief to those who are timid about trying a straight Lapsang Souchong. Adding some sweetening does improve the tea and brings up the chocolate a bit so that in my opinion the aftertaste is almost like a chocolate Necco wafer candy. Malty, chalky. Don’t brew too long or you’ll have a bitter brew. 3-4 minutes max. I did not add milk.

Tommy Toadman

sounds really good, we love lapsang :)

Bonnie

The fireplace and camping and the woods thing. When I lived in the Sierra Nevada foothills in the mornings people would have woodfires going on rainy days (me too) and the smoke and dampness wove in and out through the forest like etherel filmy woodland spirits. The smell was incredibley wonderful…wow!

The dry leaves smell so fruity and delicious! Mango and papaya made this an easy one to pick out of my sample pack (thanks again Anne from Liberteas – still working through the samples!).

This tea seems very light to me, but in a good way. I really love the fruity aspect. It’s not too overpowering. This is a good one to curl up on the couch with a nice book after a long day. This confims my need to subscribe to 52 teas – subscribing now actually.

Mmmm….

drank Pumpkin Pancake Breakfast by 52teas
1908 tasting notes

I’m tasting a lot more pumpkin flavour in this tea than I got from the other 52Teas pumpkin blends, which I appreciate. I’m not getting the pancake part as much though, even with added milk and some agave nectar. The tea tastes rather bakey, but it’s sort of a generic bakey and nothing like syrup or butter in my opinion. Even so, I’m enjoying this tea, it has a comfortable, homey feel to it.

drank Strawberry Zabaglione by 52teas

Tea from last night.

So today’s the first day of class and I am sitting in bed, I don’t know if I actually feel sick, or if it is just the effect of all the damn rain. But there’s a flood watch and I have no waterproof shoes other than way too warm boots so, I’m sitting here as I’m not in the mood to have wet feet if I feel gross.

Also I don’t want the flu so I really don’t want to be around people again already.

So last night I watched The End of Time and cried a bunch and drank this tea. I have somehow acquired a lot of it through swaps. So I figured a pot of it would be good. I hadn’t had it for awhile either.

I have to say I am not that big of a fan of it. I added coconut milk creamer and agave, hoping to boost the custard but to no avail. The strawberry is good though, so maybe just the sabayon flavor doesn’t age well? I’ll try one of the newer bunches of this tea next.

drank Strawberry Zabaglione by 52teas

I’ve thought about getting this tea for awhile now and I am going to have to do just that soon; thanks Bonnie for giving me some in a swap!

The strawberry flavor is so good. It’s almost like a spoonful of jam added to tea. The flavor is very berry, and doesn’t taste artificial.

I wasn’t getting much of a creamy, custardy flavor until the tea cooled a bit. It mixes well with the strawberry.

It does remind me a bit of Marco Polo but I think it’s a far different tea.

GiggleGoddess

I keep hearing Marco Polo in tea reviews…what is it?

momo

This tea from Mariage Freres: http://steepster.com/teas/mariage-freres/1330-marco-polo it’s like strawberry shortcake when you add milk and sugar.

drank Vanilla Mint Mate by 52teas

This tea makes a great base for homemade hot chocolate! It creates a rich, multidimensional taste that is a nice change of pace from ordinary hot chocolate.

MegWesley

This is probably a silly question, but how did you use it to make hot chocolate? Did you steep it first and then add chocolate syrup? Or did you steep it and then melt in the chocolate in a pot on the stovetop. I am probably over-thinking this, but it sounds really good.

mpierce87

I had made a homemade hot cocoa mix as a Christmas gift for coworkers and I just added a spoonful of that to the steeped tea.

I was a bit afraid that this would remind me of toothpaste, but thankfully it doesn’t. This is such a richly satisfying vanilla tea with just a bit of mint in the aftertaste. The earthiness of the mate really helps this to not be overwhelmingly one note. I’m also loving the caffeine kick!

drank Oatmeal Raisin Cookie by 52teas
139 tasting notes

I’ve had this tea about 3 times now on separate occasions, each time hoping that it would get better. unfortunately it did not.

Oh, how I had wanted to like this tea! Oatmeal raisin cookies are some of my all-time favorite things in the world. However I am getting neither raisins nor oatmeal in this tea, only lots of grape. I am not a grape fan.

52teas blends are some of the best teas I have tried, but sadly this one misses the mark.

Passing this onto TeaEqualsBliss call me unobservant but I just saw in a tasting note that she loves mint teas! I do enjoy this one very much but its time for it to go to another home. There is only enough for a few cups but I know they will be most enjoyed with her! :)

De-cupboarding – I think I may have given all of this away lol I’m not sure. I can’t find it anywhere but no biggie I can get more … I know I sent out some samples and pretty sure I sent the package to someone – just wish I could remember for sure if I did this so I won’t go insane wondering what happened to it. Lovely tea.

Indigobloom

LOL I’ve done that to! frustrating isn’t it

Azzrian

LOL very!

Invader Zim

You definitely sent me a nice sized sample of this!

Azzrian

Yeah I think I gave it all out over various people :) lol

HAHAHAHA I found it! Re-cupboarding! WOOT! LOL

First let me just say I am partial to mint teas! Mint anything really. This is perfect!
I am having one cup cold while the rest is cooling for iced tea.
I am going to add a touch of sweetner just because I feel it may bring out the vanilla a bit more but trust me this one is perfect all on its own! I just like to experiment some.
The balance of mint which is not in your face overwhelming but still enough mint so you get the kick it should have – balanced perfectly with a natural flavored vanilla – and I am picky about vanilla flavors!
Steeped at 180 for 4 minutes its wonderful.
The mouthfeel is creamier if you let it cool slightly and the vanilla comes out more then as well.
No aftertaste, no astringency.
Tastes like Wrigley’s Spearmint Gum.
My favorite mint tea to date.

If you like mint teas, try DavidsTea’s North African Mint. Its powerfully minty!

Nice thank you for that suggest TassieTeaGirl! :)

I WAY, WAY oversteeped this tea. However, after adding a tiny bit of sugar and a small splash of cream I have the most delicious, rich cup of Cherry Cheesecake goodness sitting beside me! No bitter tastes to be found, just a tea that seriously feels like it should be a million, zillion calories (but its not!)

I LOVE genmaicha but I haven’t had it in ages. This tea smells so much like cheesecake when dry and the cherry aroma becomes quite strong while steeping. The first infusion has a creamy feel with a burst of tangy cherry. The toasted rice element is noticeable towards the end of the sip with the green tea base present throughout. I think this will be a really great afternoon tea.

Still yummy. I wanted something a bit more decadent tonight though so I added Italian Sweet Cream non dairy creamer and OH YES this is it! Compliments this tea so very well!

Side note for my brother – ITS VEGAN! :)
Smell from bag – DROOL OMG Divine!
Slightly Tart Citrusy – Buttery – Creamy – Dreamy.
Water is about to boil and I am about to steep I am literally feeling my mouth water up with anticipation!
This had better be good lol.
This is my second flavor from 52Teas and the first one did NOT disappoint!
Oh and I am using my “big” teapot for the first time ever, because I have super high hopes. :)
I only wish honeybush did not have such a long steep time!
YAY its done!
Smell in cup: YUMMY makes me want to burn my mouth!
Its actually REFRESHING! how can that be? Its SO not good for you with all this cream, butter, candy like flavor…hummm….I get the orange or is it cranberry on the sides of my cheeks, MOUTH cheeks that is. Also on the mid part of the tongue, creamy on sides of tongue, this is a treat for the taste buds with different flavors and textures bouncing off one part to the other. I have not had honeybush before so I am not sure what to expect from it – not getting a typical “tea” flavor of any kind.
No astringency, no after taste, excellent flavorings!
I find the buttery flavor coming through now on the aftertaste but it does not linger and that is good. Makes me want another sip but does not “turn” into something terrible.
Its odd – every sip brings something a little different – now I am getting the butter in the full mouth.
I am anxious for the next cup which I will let cool down some to see how it tastes that way then will add some sweetener to the next cup to try that as well. This is one I want to play around with BUT is perfection just as is!
You know if you are worried about flavored teas or “sweet” teas this is not going to disappoint you at all! Its not sappy or sticky sweet and there is no lingering negative flavor additive effect OR sugar effect.
Very pleasant all the way around.

Reverting to old favorites – comforting. Mmmmmm
Added a dash of sweet cream creamer just because I wanted to cool it down a bit – I need tea NOW!
Sooo sleepy and this is a dreamy tasting tea.
Maybe my tea and I need to go back and cuddle under the covers.
