518 Tasting Notes
Mine is actually the 2013 version, but whatever. I am too lazy to make a new entry. The description is the same.
I like this one. It’s just the right amount of fruity. The dry leaves are really pretty, just a few tips that add some really nice color.

Thank you, Marzipan for the lovely sample of this tea.
I decided I wanted a black tea this afternoon. Maybe it would give me a little pep? I dunno. Not sure what I was thinking.
But I picked this one out of the bag of samples Marzi sent me.
Oooh.
The dry leaf smells soooooo sooooo yummy.
And after infusing? Even better.
This tea tastes outstanding. Rich and almost sweet. Delicious.
This is something I didn’t used to like in tea, but now I’ve come to truly appreciate, and perhaps even love.
I had this one last night before bed. When I placed my last Butiki order, I accidentally ordered this twice, without ever having tried it once. Fingers crossed that I like it.
Whew! I do!
Floral, sweet, incredibly buttery. Delicious.
I had this western style, and saved my leaves so I can have some more.
Preparation
In a big mug with a longer infusion time, as opposed to gongfu cha or similar, with a small amount of water but more leaves, for several short infusions.
This is my first mug of tea for the day. Yes, after 9:30 at night.
I have some sort of stomach virus that has had me down for the count. It started yesterday, but I tried to ignore it. Apparently, that was not the right thing to do as it got a lot worse before basically knocking me flat on my ass last night after I lost dinner.
I’ve slept most of the day and I’m feeling a lot better.
So I decided to have some tea. I wanted something nice and easy drinking, a flavorful green since my sense of taste seems to be a little off. This was my choice.
Oh it’s good. I ordered a bunch of it off of the Beautiful Taiwan website, but I got last year’s harvest instead of this years, to save a little money. Did it make a difference in the tea? I don’t think so as this tastes incredible to me. It’s one of my favorite greens.
So I was supposed to mail out a bunch of teas today, but it didn’t happen. Probably not until Wednesday now because I don’t want to touch anything for other people with the way I have been feeling. Sorry for the delay everyone.
This sample came from boychik
It’s nice and uncomplicated. Easy to drink.
And the cake is quite reasonably priced. I may buy one for myself.

I love a good oolong. This is a good oolong.
I’m not supposed to be at home today. I’m supposed to be freezing my tushy off at tailgate right now. Instead, last night while getting dinner ready, something tweaked in my back and I’ve been in pain since. Last night, I had to lay down to have any relief. Today, I’m sitting with a heating pad and it’s helping quite a bit, but I’m still hurting. Blah. I do all kinds of stuff that could hurt my back, lifting heavy weights and whatnot. I hurt my back chopping peppers for dinner.
So I’m curled up on the couch with my heating pad, getting some relief. It took a while until I was ready to get up and get some tea. I’m now drinking a nice mug of this one. Western style, because I don’t want to have to move any more than I have to right now.
Smooth, floral, maybe a little bit buttery. Tasty.
Aww, I hope you feel better soon. Something similar happened to my boyfriend – he tore his calf muscle randomly just walking to his car. The body is weird sometimes…
This is a really good milk oolong. So yummy!! Creamy. Delicious.

So this is the first cake I have ever opened to actually drink from. I got to use my tea pick and everything. That was fun. I have decided I definitely need a breaking tray.
I managed to carefully, gently, break off a little over 5g. Added it to my warmed gaiwan.
Quick, short infusions.
This was actually smoother than I thought it might be. The third infusion was about the roughest of all of the infusions. Nice and easy drinking. Reminded me of corn, maybe, but not good sweet corn, but the stuff that claims to be sweet corn but tastes like it was picked a week or two before. About the fifth infusion, the floral notes started to kick in. I do find this tea has some astringency to it, but while that sometimes bugs me, I liked it in this tea.
I lost count of my infusions. The tea is still going strong, but I’m not. I will save the leaves for later. (I do have a whole 95g of this tea left, so maybe I don’t need to., but I think I want to see this through for at least the first time with this tea….)
This tea has given me a bit of a buzz, I will admit, but a nice, focusy one, although I think I feel a little tingly. It’s kinda nice.

Preparation
I like it a lot, too. I was a little surprised. I thought it might be much rougher, based on how the cake smelled.
And I really like the gaiwan. It was a gift to myself from Amazon. I’m finding myself actually using gaiwans a lot now, when I almost never used to use them.
