467 Tasting Notes
Oh, what a lucky girl am I!!! I got a Breville for Christmas! I really enjoy it. I thought I wouldn’t like 500 ml minimum. I got used to that very quickly since it has a keep warm feature. Since I received the Breville and got a bunch of new teas for Christmas… I have been drinking a ton of tea. Okay, yes, I am going to the bathroom a lot. I enjoy the auto feature. It is great way to start the day.
I just have to add some more about the Breville! Oh my gosh I love it. I’ve had it about a month and every time I use it i"m in love with it all over again. It is so convenient . I haven’t had a single over steeped or under steeped tea since I got it. When I’ve mentioned the Breville to others and apologize for the price, I’ve had many say that they have spent more than $300 on a cappuccino machine so $250 isn’t really that unreasonable. By the way, my husband only spent $190 using a Black Fridays coupon at Bed, Bath and Beyond.
I just have to say, Buy one, buy one now. For beginners it would really take the guess work out of steeping with a great cup every time For experienced tea people it will just add to the joy :D
I have been very lucky in my tea choices lately. I have another tea here that is awesome. I got a Breville tea kettle (most wonderful tea accessory EVER!), so I have been ordering and making a lot of tea. This Chai is so full bodied! The cardamon cloves swell as it steeps which I hadn’t seen before, I guess some of the other chai teas were more finely ground. I used to use the Oregon Trail or Tazo pre – made mix and added soy milk. That was very good but I needed a zero calorie alternative. I tried several varieties like Teavana’s Marahajah chai. It was OK but not quite what I was looking for. This Chai is good with a little sweetener and I don’t need any milk, so … no calories. Can be steeped 2-3 times.
Preparation
I’m finishing up tin and am a little disappointed. All the good stuff has been used up and I’m mostly left with the smaller bits and pieces. I know it’s my fault, I shouldn’t have been so greed with all the yummy parts. Now there is very little of the cardamom and other spices. I steeped it strong and added sweetener but its still missing the full bodied flavor I enjoyed so much previously. Oh well, my bad.
I also thought there would be chocolate taste… silly me! It’s not a bad tea but not what I expected. It’s ok but not much different from your typical mint tea. I tried adding a few chocolate chips. I won’t be buying it again but I don’t hate it.
Preparation
Awesome! This tea has a wonderful chocolate amaretto flavor. Zero calorie! I am not usually a big fan of chocolate teas but this smelled so good that I had to try it. I add 1/2 a tsp of Nectresse (Zero calorie natural sweetener). It completely fills my need for a sweet treat. No caffeine so I can drink it late at night. I bought 2 oz yesterday and I am going back to the store tomorrow to get 16 oz!
Preparation
I tried this in the store using a $1 cup coupon. It was much better than a taste from one of their sample size cups. Well about the tea. Awesome. I had a iced latte and it was terrific. I saw how much they put in the cup and was amazed at how much they put in. They said to double the amounts of tea and rock sugar but they seemed to put a lot more in than they said. I was able to easily duplicated it a home. For a 16 oz. it needed 6 tsp. and 3 tsp. of rock sugar. It only needed a little milk (soy in my case). Over ice! Yummy and cooool!
I haven’t had it hot but I really enjoyed my iced latte.
Preparation
Another great smelling Teavana tea. Luckily, it’s also a tasty tea! Nice crisp fruit flavor. When I read about some people eating the little bits after brewing and I thought they were nuts. However, I couldn’t help but nibble and oh, my goodness, it’s fantastic. The surprise ingredient is… wait for it…. carrot slices! You don’t really taste them but it is a surprise to see them in your tea. The tea is good hot and iced with a little rock sugar.
Preparation
The scent is awesome! Since the scent is a primary sense used in enjoying teas this is a delightful one. It brews to a lovely pink and I’ve been able to steep it several times from the same leaves. The taste is somewhat overwhelmed by the rose blossoms which bring a strong rose hip taste. I do add the German rock sugar because of the tartness of the rose blossoms. The plum and almonds are great. I enjoy fruity teas as well as other types so this tea is a perfect fit for me. Others have mentioned this is a holiday drink (?) but I bought this in the spring and feel that it is very good this time of the year.It has a certain lightness/brightness that feels very “sunshiny” :) As a cold brewed ice tea it is great. The rose hip flavor is reduced which allows the other flavors to come through. I cold steeped it for 4 hours.
