drank Earl Grey by SereneTeaz
467 tasting notes

Another gray (or should that be Grey) day, cold and rainy. This EG has a lot of bergamot so it works well with a short steep. 2 min. at the most. I added a little of my Vanilla Creme Stevia. A wonderful cup of tea. Still feeling lazy, but maybe the caffeine will kick in soon. I promised myself that I wouldn’t watch last night’s Marvel: Agents of Shield except if I was walking on the treadmill. So let’s get this energy pumped up and get going…

Preparation
Boiling 2 min, 0 sec 2 tsp 18 OZ / 532 ML
carol who

The caffeine kicked in and i complete my first mile of the day in 18 min. with the treadmill set at 2.5 incline. I watched the first part of M:AOS and am continually amazed at the twists and turns in these stories. I am using an ActiveLink monitor from Weight Watchers and am trying to get 4 1/2 to 5 miles a day. I’m doing pretty good but I think I’ll need another hit of caffeine. I walk 3 miles later in the day with my blind friend. We walk on an indoor track so there are no excuses about weather, etc. So I need about 1 -2 miles on the treadmill. I will loose weight, I will loose weight, I will loose weight! Tomorrow is another weigh in! Hmmm, I think I’ll go to one of my favorites, Chocolate Yerba Mate.

NayLynn

What brand vanilla creme stevia do you use?

carol who

I use SweetLeaf and NOW Better Stevia drops from a local health food store, Fruitful Yield. They have a whole bunch of flavors. I really like Vanilla and have just recently tried (and like) Chocolate for my Yerba Mate since I haven’t been able to find my favorite Chocolate Yerba Mate.

drank Sleep With Me by Paromi

Thank you Marzipan for this lovely sample. This is a gentle relaxing evening tea. It’s fruity but well balanced so there is no overwhelming single fruit. Quite enjoyable and a good start on beginning a relax evening.
The name reminds of a phone conversation with my 88 year old mom. The people in her retirement community went to a nearby beach. She said she had “Sex on the Beach” (the name of a drink) which of course made me begin to build a really scary image in my mind. ;-p

Preparation
Boiling 6 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 10 OZ / 295 ML

Thank you Cheri for passing on this lovely tea. I really enjoy trying new combinations. The pieces of kiwi are huge and the toasted coconut was plentiful. I wasn’t sure what else is in it so I just brewed it as a herbal. It’s tasty but perhaps a little strong. Maybe brewed 3 minutes would be better. Maybe its black tea. Still quite tasty. I’m not sure if I taste the flavors distinctly. I think this should be resteeped so I might add more to this note.

Preparation
200 °F / 93 °C 4 min, 0 sec 3 tsp 16 OZ / 473 ML

I thought you might enjoy it, after reading some of the teas you have reviewed. I’m glad you found it tasty!

drank Fig Rose by Teavana
467 tasting notes

This is one of my favorite herbal teas. The scent (both dry and brewed) is the kind that just knocks your socks off! I was so upset when Teavana had discontinued this (at least according to the clerk at Teavana). Imagine my surprise when I saw it on the Teavana site. Yippie! This is the tea I turn to in the afternoons and evenings since I don’t want caffeine. It is strongly fig. I love Fig Newtons and that is what I tasted. If you don’t like Fig Newtons, this is not the tea for you.

Preparation
205 °F / 96 °C 5 min, 0 sec 3 tsp 16 OZ / 473 ML
Sami Kelsh

I do like fig newtons, and my mind is trying really hard to imagine how this translates into a tea, but it does sound rather luscious!

Suziqzer

I can’t translate figs to tea either Sami but I’m guessing it’s because the only way I think I’ve had them is in fig newtons. It’s not a blend I would pick up by the name alone, but carol, you make it sound like a treat.

carol who

It really is for me! I do not really remember ever having a real fig, just the Fig Newtons. I even eat the “fruit” after steeping. I even use a spoon! Now I’m getting hungry again. I hate dieting!

Suziqzer

I need to lose some weight too… Such a harsh winter all I wanted to do was hybernate! I have yet to eat pieces out of my tea, but I’m sure I will do it eventually.

drank Apricot by Cameron's
467 tasting notes

Another enjoyable cup of tea. It’s doesn’t have the boldness and wakeup quality of some of my other black teas but it has that nice gentle satisfying push of caffeine. I love the apricot flavor. Often apricot is combined with peach which I also enjoy but I’m glad to have just a straight apricot. Nice quiet wake up to a gloomy day. I probably should switch to one of my high octane teas ( Chocolate Rocket, Chocolate Yerba Mate, Mateavana) so I get moving and get something done! :D

drank Hello Sweetie by Butiki Teas

I received Hello Sweetie from 2 count them 2 wonderful swap buddies one right after another. Marzipan and Deliriums Frogs, you are mind readers. Thank you both! I’m enjoying the coconut, toffee, banana cream taste. It still lets the Assam through nicely. And of course, River Song is incomparable! Strong, bold, funny, sexy, smart! I want to be her when I grow up!

Flavors: Caramel, Coconut, Nuts, Vanilla

Preparation
205 °F / 96 °C 3 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 12 OZ / 354 ML
Marzipan

Not a mind reader as much as a wish list looker ;)

Oh Deliriums Frogs how i love you… let me count the ways.:) Another terrific tea swap from Deliriums Frogs. There are lovely, large pecan pieces in the dry tea. Both the maple and the pecans come through well. The tea is slightly sweet even without my friend Stevia. It is quite enjoyable and is a nice comfort, dessert tea. I wouldn’t stock it but i would drink more.

Preparation
4 min, 0 sec 3 tsp 16 OZ / 473 ML
DeliriumsFrogs

I’m so glad that you like it! That one is so lovely…
My swaps with you and Marzipan were my first ever Steepster swaps—how lucky am I?!

Thank you Deliriums Frogs for this tea! I enjoy the pineapple flavor even though its not very prominent. I may have under leafed. Some times it’s hard to tell how much is a teaspoon when the leaves are big. I should have checked grams. It is a nice tea for a sunshine-y happy day. A little Stevia. Terrific. Very refreshing and relaxing for mid-afternoon. Has some caffeine but not too much. Thanks again Deliriums Frogs for this swap!

Preparation
180 °F / 82 °C 4 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML
DeliriumsFrogs

Oh, you’re SO welcome!! It is such a ‘happy day’ tea, isn’t it?
By the way, I’ve been loving my Doctor Who book…it’s been perfect! (I chose The Shadow of Weng-Chiang to read first :) )

carol who

I like the books that you can really relate to a specific episode. Have you seen The Talons of Weng Chiang? It’s a good one. Glad you are enjoying it!

drank Vanilla Comoro by Harney & Sons

Thank you Marzipan for this tea. It is just what I need for that bold tea flavor later in the day! I love my tisanes/herbals but they work best at night for me. I need this dark and bold kind of tea for afternoon and early evening. It’s PERFECT! The second cup would have been even better if I hadn’t over-sweetened it ;-p Can’t blame that on the tea!

Flavors: Vanilla

Preparation
Boiling 2 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

Thank you Marzipan for this lovely tea. I really haven’t had genmaicha before. I think I taste the brown rice. Not tasting much cherry which is a bit disappointing. I am tasting some cheesecake but not a lot. A pleasurable cup of tea. I’ve never had a cheesecake tea except the cheesecake matcha latte(Red Leaf) that I am so in love with. The matcha has a much better taste since it is made with a milk substitute. It isn’t fair to compare them. Still enjoyable. Thanks Marzipan!

Profile

Bio

Retired first grade teacher. I tend to like dessert type/herbal teas as a substitute for sweet treats; flavored black teas and mates to get that energy that I am often lacking ;-p
My husband of 43 years thinks I’m nuts regarding the whole tea thing… but he bought me a Breville for Christmas, so what can I say. :-D
My other interests are reading (books go well with tea :D) and beading. I volunteer at my “old” school teaching reading and I volunteer for the blind. I am trying hard to lose weight ( I have now lost 40 lbs and I’m looking good in my skinny jeans, IMHO) I am now walking about 4.5 miles a day and I am trying to do some core work for about 30 min. 3x a week.

I have been watching Doctor Who for 33years. In case you can’t tell my avatar is two daleks drinking tea! I am always open to swapping Doctor Who books for tea. I have about 120 Doctor Who books that I am eager to send some to a fan. :D Let me know if you would like any books! I love that so many people have begun watching DW!

Also I love swaps, pm me if you’d like to do a swap.

Since I find others’ rating legends helpful, I added my own.

95-100 A once in a lifetime experience; the best there is; will keep this stocked until the cows come home

90-94 First rate; top notch; really terrific; will definitely buy more

80-89 Excellent; likely to become a favorite, will likely buy more

70-79 Very good; would enjoy again, might buy again if in the mood for this particular one or a better, similar version not available or it’s on a really good sale :-)

50-69 Good; wouldn’t pass up if offered, but probably wouldn’t buy again unless craving this particular flavor

Below 50 Meh! Wouldn’t bother drinking it again.
