467 Tasting Notes

I’m sensing the chai and caramel. It’s nice but not as special as I had hoped. I do love a chai in the fall so this works for me today.

Thanks to Teeny Tiny TTB for this sample!

Yesterday I sort of accidentally overdosed on teas with cinnamon. Today it seems even teas that I love have more cinnamon than I remember. For some reason, it’s bothering me. Still going to keep the same rating even though I didn’t get the satisfaction I usually do from this tea.

Thanks TTTTB for this tea!

I’m enjoying the tea. It’s more complex than I thought it would be. I didn’t look at the ingredients before brewing. I was surprised about the lavender . The spearmint goes well with the vanilla. I like a change from peppermint to spearmint . Not bad, not the greatest ever.

Isn’t it funny how much chais very from one to another? Sometimes heavy on cardamom, or heavy on cloves or nutmeg. This one is heavy on cinnamon. I don’t mind some teas with cinnamon so this type of tea works for me occasionally. I’m enjoying it but I wouldn’t buy it. I might recommend it with the caveat that it has quite a bit of cinnamon.

I taste all the appropriate flavors: Caramel, Chocolate and Coconut. This tea has a great aroma while sipping and round feeling in the mouth. (round?) guess that it feels well balanced. The black tea is not overwhelming the dessert-y feel of the tea. I can sense the Simpson and Vail quality that is usually a part of their lovely teas. This the kind of tea that I love. Wish I had more!

That sounds like a wonderful tea…almost like a candy bar!

Not a bad tea. I may have over leafed. I seem to be getting in a bad habit of overleafing blacks like I overleaf many herbals. The herbals can handle it but the blacks can’t.

I can taste the ginger and the caramel but the black tea overwhelms it. As I said, I think it’s me. :(

I’ve tried it a couple times. I keep thinking from the spices it going to be like a chai but then there is the lavender. The lavender overwhelms the other flavors. I actually had to toss it out. You may have guessed lavender is on my list of evil flavors.

This is from the TTTTB 2.0. I’ve had a lot of caffeine this a.m. and decided I needed to back off a little. This is an oolong so there is some caffeine but not as much as Chocolate Rocket and My Morning Mate (This mornings caffeine of choice). I’ve got most of my ‘chores’ and exercising done ( walked 4.5 miles).

The tea has a mild orange and almond flavor. It’s quite soothing. It’s not one I personally would buy but I certainly would enjoy a cup of this occasionally. I’m enjoying drinking it while the kitchen floor dries and watching the most recent Doctor Who episode.

Interesting. I added the tea but never wrote the tasting note. Oh well.

I haven’t had much experience with genmaicha. I know that it’s a brown rice and green tea blend. What I’ve had before may have been old because I didn’t get much flavor.

This is a whole different things. It’s truly a wonderful drink.
There was a nice roasted brown rice scent. When looking at the leaves you could see the brown rice as well as little bits of popped popcorn in with the sencha.

When brewed the liquid was light yellow and there was a light brown rice scent. I taste the brown rice and a little bit of the popcorn. When taking a drink there is a light after taste with kind of an astringent lingering flavor. More of a crisp astringency not an annoying astringency.

It is very calm and refreshing. I think I will have to delve into genmaicha a bit more.

Retired first grade teacher. I tend to like dessert type/herbal teas as a substitute for sweet treats; flavored black teas and mates to get that energy that I am often lacking ;-p
My husband of 43 years thinks I’m nuts regarding the whole tea thing… but he bought me a Breville for Christmas, so what can I say. :-D
My other interests are reading (books go well with tea :D) and beading. I volunteer at my “old” school teaching reading and I volunteer for the blind. I am trying hard to lose weight ( I have now lost 40 lbs and I’m looking good in my skinny jeans, IMHO) I am now walking about 4.5 miles a day and I am trying to do some core work for about 30 min. 3x a week.

I have been watching Doctor Who for 33years. In case you can’t tell my avatar is two daleks drinking tea! I am always open to swapping Doctor Who books for tea. I have about 120 Doctor Who books that I am eager to send some to a fan. :D Let me know if you would like any books! I love that so many people have begun watching DW!

Also I love swaps, pm me if you’d like to do a swap.

Since I find others’ rating legends helpful, I added my own.

95-100 A once in a lifetime experience; the best there is; will keep this stocked until the cows come home

90-94 First rate; top notch; really terrific; will definitely buy more

80-89 Excellent; likely to become a favorite, will likely buy more

70-79 Very good; would enjoy again, might buy again if in the mood for this particular one or a better, similar version not available or it’s on a really good sale :-)

50-69 Good; wouldn’t pass up if offered, but probably wouldn’t buy again unless craving this particular flavor

Below 50 Meh! Wouldn’t bother drinking it again.
