Decided to try this with milk this time, and I have to say I like it much better this way. Much creamier, and the caramel note is much more pronounced. My only complaint is that the milk hides the lovely smell.

I think this tea is one that’s meant to be sipped in very small amounts. That allows the aftertaste to come through, and the aftertaste tastes like the dry tea smells (i.e. wonderful). Without milk this tea was completely lackluster for me, but with milk I’m starting to appreciate it much more.

This is the tea I break out when I’m really having a bad day. Today I had a migraine, so it seemed fitting.

The scent as I open the bag is amazing; it’s like walking into a rose garden. It’s also sweet, like honey. The brewed tea smells almost exactly the same. The taste isn’t as sweet as the smell, which in my opinion is a good thing. The tea is light and floral, absolutely delicious and very calming to me.

Today involved all kinds of chores for me, so I’ve decided the end of the day is reserved for hot tea and ’80s movies. Few things are more comforting to me than dessert, so here we are.

Made this a little hotter than usual, and what a difference! Much more pronounced chocolate taste than before. A delicious way to calm down after a stressful day and probably better for me than actual red velvet cake.

This tea is a little bizarre to me. It produces a strange tingling on the tongue almost like alcohol. Maybe it’s the vanilla? The mix of spices? Whatever it is, it’s not what I’m looking for in a tea and I don’t like it.

Once I get past that it’s fine, flavor-wise. Strong vanilla and apple and not much else. Unfortunately I can’t get past the way this feels in my mouth to really enjoy it.

drank Almond by Adagio Teas

It was a black tea kind of morning so I decided to break open my sample box from Adagio.

This one smelled downright alarming in the pouch: sharp and chemical and not what I was expecting at all. I brewed it up anyway because I love almonds. The brewed tea smells like marzipan, but the taste isn’t that sweet. It’s a very nice almond flavor, and not nearly as bitter as I was expecting from other reviews. I actually steeped it much longer than I meant to but it’s still nice and light!

I might get this one, but then again the smell of the dry leaves is off-putting. Maybe I’ll decide after my next cup.

Last cup of this stuff. I cut open some bags and made a real pot in hopes of producing a better cup of tea; it didn’t work. I can finally taste the black tea (which tastes muddled and dull), but the vanilla is even wimpier than before.

Bye, Vanilla Bean, and good riddance.

I feel I should preface this by saying breakfast tea is usually not my thing. It was one of the first teas I tried as a child, and I absolutely hated it! Too bitter, too sharp, and too malty. Yuck.

This one, though, is much more pleasant than I expected. Light, refreshing, and not even the tiniest bit bitter. Perfect amount of caffeine, too. My only complaint is that it’s a little boring. I doubt I would drink this every day but for when I want something basic it would be a good option.

This was my first time trying this one. I’m always on the hunt for good vanilla teas, and this one was pretty good. The taste and smell of vanilla are about equal in this one, which I’ve found to be rare in vanilla tea. Definitely tasted like rooibos, but not too sharp or grassy like it can get sometimes. Very nice for bagged tea!

When I first tried this tea I thought I might not be steeping it hot enough or long enough, so today I tried hotter and longer than I had before. It produced a marginally better cup of tea, but that isn’t saying much.

Too mild, barely vanilla, and even the black tea taste is disappointing. It’s just unremarkable in every way. At least my box of this one is nearly gone.

This is the first lavender earl grey I’ve tried, and I’m impressed. Dry, it smells very strongly of lavender. The brewed tea doesn’t taste as strongly as it smells, but the bergamot is much milder than in some earl greys. That makes it a nice, smooth tea. The aftertaste is my favorite part of it, though—strong, sweet lavender. Delicious!

Bio

Elizabeth, college student, anthropology major, bio and history minor. I love to travel and try new foods (and teas!). I also enjoy music, books, video games as often as I can get my hands on them.

I loved tea as a kid, didn’t drink it for about ten years, and then rediscovered it a couple of years ago. Tea sometimes helps me feel better when chronic illness is making things hard. It’s also fun to experiment with!

I’m still pretty new to the types and brands of tea out there, but I’m interested in trying some of everything. My favorites are earl greys, yunnans, medium-bodied oolongs, Japanese greens, fruit, vanilla, and floral flavors (especially jasmine and rose). My least favorites are teas that are overly smoked, bitter, or contain strong hibiscus or orange peel.
