564 Tasting Notes
This was out at breakfast today, and since I’m always up for trying teas I haven’t yet I decided, “why not?” I’m really glad I did, because this is actually delicious and I might never have tried it otherwise. The lemon is sweeter than I expected, which makes the cup very drinkable and gives the impression of a dense lemon cake. I nearly went back for seconds but there were others to try. I might pick some of this up for when I want bagged tea! Yum.
I had a cup of this with dinner and it’s not bad. The smell is really good—I’m not sure what kind of fruit is in here but it smells and tastes good with the Ceylon. The cup is a little bit bitter but it’s not terrible. I’ll have to see if they have more of this set out at breakfast tomorrow.
Honestly, making myself a little tea care package before we left is one of my best ideas in recent memory. This way I get decent tea and I can sip some stuff down! Luckily I thought to bring tea that’s not too delicate to temperature—the coffeemaker only has one setting and that is boiling.
I didn’t get enough sleep last night and this has a pleasant kick of caffeine that’s really helping me this morning. I still haven’t decided if I’d buy this or not but I will say it’s reliable and one of the least finicky teas I’ve had. No matter how I steep it it never gets bitter or too strong.
From this morning:
Wow, this is delicious! I’ve had pear cider before and it tastes just like that. I’m heading off for a few days to see a new doctor, and I went ahead and snuck the rest of this in with my stuff because I like it so much.
Sipdown! Obviously I liked it if I drank it up in one day. There’s just something comforting about it. On a worse note, apparently I logged this under the wrong entry last time? Oops… I think I’ll fix that now because I don’t want two ratings for one tea.
Well, I’m at the hotel! They had bags of this so I decided I might as well try it. The coffeemaker in the room isn’t what I’m used to so I can’t be sure about the temperature, but this isn’t too bad for a breakfast tea. There’s a strong honey flavor to it that I really like. There’s a little bit of bitterness but it’s not bad enough to stop me from finishing the cup. Not bad, hotel!
I got this as a free sample in my RiverTea order and I’m not sure how I feel about it exactly. The fruit is very strong—it tastes exactly like dried cherries—and overpowers the other flavors a little. I can taste the green tea but not the jasmine. It’s not bad, and as a cherry tea I like it, but I love jasmine and was hoping for more of a balance.
My first milk oolong! This is so complex and interesting. It’s definitely a green oolong, but it also tastes, well, milky. The mouthfeel is creamy and there are also some mineral notes. I wouldn’t say it’s fruity but it is kind of juicy. Sadly I only have one cup’s worth of this, but I’ll be resteeping it a few times to see what happens. Yum!
