107 Tasting Notes
I love doing photo shoots in the summer, but I hate editing in the summer (because I just want to be running around outside!). I did a shoot last month and I’m only now getting around to editing them. A few pots of this tea are getting me through quite nicely. Here’s a peek at one of the photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/riotproof/9359264259/
The first pot (steeped for 4 mins) was really nice. The jasmine was present but the green tea was stronger. The second pot (steeped for 5ish mins) is the opposite. The jasmine feels heavy on my tongue but it’s nice and calming.
It is July and I still have unopened teas from my DavisTea’s Christmas sampler box in case you were wondering what total procrastination looks like. I decided to finally try this as I’ve had far too much pop and junk food in the past few days. I like this one because I can just taste how good it is for me, as weird as that sounds. I can barely taste the rooibos which is great because I’m not the biggest fan of it. I can’t see myself buying this but I’ll enjoy the little bit of the sample I have left!
I’m not the biggest iced tea fan but I decided to give DT’s new flavours a try. I cold-brewed this as my biggest problem with iced teas is that they taste too watered down for me. I love cold-brewing since it keeps the flavours. As expected, the mint is most dominant in this but the tea still has a fruity, creamy taste.
So, Adagio’s shipping prices to Canada are ridiculous. I’ve ordered once and felt appropriately guilty after the experience. Not gonna lie, they’re great teas but they forgot to include the one tea that I was really looking forward too (and spent the most money on) and refused to send it to me when I emailed them about it. All they could do was add it on my account so it would go out with my next order (which will probably never because of the damn shipping cost). Hint: if your shipping prices are so ludicrous that they interfere with your customer service skills as a company, maybe look into it.
Anyway, I saw this at Whole Foods when I was in New York (sadly they only had this tea and vanilla rooibos) and thought it would be pretty good for an iced tea. Since then I’ve been cold brewing it and taking it to work. It’s pretty tasty! I add a teensy bit of agave to kill the slight bitterness from hibiscus, but it really isn’t even that harsh. I almost didn’t get this because I was still a little bitter from my last Adagio experience, but I’m glad I did!
Are you serious?!?!? They didn’t make good and send you the tea you ordered that they forgot? Geeez another reason never to order from them. Eff that.
i’m so sorry! i really appreciate your post. i’ll be staying away from them. verdant has my heart and soul and butiki isn’t far behind… they’re brilliant all the way round. this company would just make me angry.
Thanks to momo for this one!
Really enjoyed this tea as I’m a fiend for strawberries. The strawberry taste was the most bold with a hint of maple syrup coming up the rear. I added some agave to this one and it brought out the flavours more. Can’t wait to fiddle around with this one more. I really want to try adding maple syrup to it to bring out the pancake flavour.
Sipping on this at Billy Bishop Airport while waiting for my flight to board. I noticed a Loblaws across the street from diner where I was having breakfast and thought I’d check it out. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had a loose leaf tea section. After pestering the sales associate to smell a bunch of the teas, I picked four. This was one of them and I was really hesitant to try it because bergamot is really hit or miss with me.
I’m very happy that I picked this one up. I steeped it for about 2 minutes and added sugar. It is sooo creamy and has a buttery caramel taste. The grapefruit gives it a nice tangy flavour and the bergamot is there but tolerable. After reading the other reviews, I was expecting to be disappointed in this but oh my god, it’s delicious!
I’m a coconut fiend so I obviously had to give this one a go.
The scent of this one reminds me of coconut cake. I definitely get a thick cake taste from this and I imagine if I added a sweetener, I’d also get a nice icing finish. I tend to do without sweeteners and this one is tasty enough without it.
I ordered the 5 Teas For $5 pack from Verdant Tea last month and it just arrived!
First steep, 10 sec: Whoa chocolate! The more I sip, the more I taste fudge.
Second, 10: Chocolate aroma is gone completely. It smells like sesame. I ordered Adagio’s Sesame tea last month and I wished it smelled as good as this. I have a feeling I’m going to have to order this. Tastes like honey, really smooth.
3, 40 s: Chocolate flavour is back, but lighter.
4, 1 min: Sesame taste
5, 1:30 …regular black tea
6, 2 min: so sweet! Amazing chocolate and honey in the aftertaste. Like rice but not in a bad way.
And I lost track after that. I was so delighted with this tea. I didn’t expect it to live up to expectations but it surpassed them!
