How can you read the name of this tea and not have the theme song of the Price is Right stuck in your head?

This tea sounded promising but didn’t live up to its hype for me. With cinnamon, green tea, orange peels, cloves, and chili peppers, you’d think it would be a feel good tea with enough spice that keeps you warm and tingly inside. In reality, it felt like I was drinking liquid cinnamon hearts. It was waaayyyy too spicy for me. I am not a fan of overly spicy teas so I did not enjoy this one.

I wanted to like this tea but unfortunately the spice was not right for me.

I found Hot Chocolate by DAVIDsTEA to be a real nice treat. I didn’t know what to expect Hot Chocolate tea to taste like, so I had really low expectations going in. I was half expecting a weird hot watery chocolately mess, but surprisingly it was quite nice, given the obvious fact, its tea and not real hot chocolate.

Right away when you open the tin you’re hit in the face with the delicious smell of chocolate. Already you’re off to a pretty good start based on the aroma alone.

If you look closer you can actually see three different types of chocolate: cocoa nibs, chocolate curls, and chocolate chips. Not one but THREE different types of chocolate!

You can also see pu’erh and black tea leaves in the mix.

I want to point out that if you’ve never tried pu’erh before, this is a good tea to dip your toe in. Its not full on pu’erh so you don’t taste the full taste, but there’s enough of it where you can notice its earthy tones without it being too much in that it turns you away from it. I personally find the pu’erh and black tea combination a nice mix for this tea.

Once brewed it still has its delicious chocolate aroma. It’s a very sweet tea that is chocolatey and rich. You can also taste the stevia aftertaste. I would have preferred to add in my own choice of sweetner, but oh well.

I would definitely give this tea a try if you haven’t already. It’s one of those teas you’ll either love or hate. For me its definitely on the love side – with three different types of chocolate, a pu’erh and black tea base with a sweet finish, whats there not to like?

Had this one the other day when DAVIDsTEA had it as their free tea of the day for Canada D’Eh (see what I did there?).

Goji Pop was oh-kay. It definitely didn’t knock my socks off, but it was free so I really can’t complain. Maybe because it was iced, it tasted a little more watery then I would have preferred. All I could really taste to be honest was tart with a bitter aftertaste. It also could have been a little over-steeped, but I find this to be a common taste among hibiscus and rosehip based teas. I normally associate hibiscus and rosehip type teas with winter and winter teas, so I can see why they added fruit and berries to this, in order to make it more summery.

I’ll have to try this one again, preferably un-iced, to see how I really feel about Goji Pop.

This was my first black tea I tried that was from the Nepal region, so I was really excited to see what this would taste like.

I didn’t want to get my hopes up so I tried not to have high expectations. I was pleasantly surprised when I took the first sip and my taste buds started to dance in delight.

Nepal Black is delicious!

When brewed it had a lovely dark golden honey/medium to dark orange colour to it. The taste itself was pretty smooth and sweet. I didn’t even feel the need to add in any milk or sweetener. At times it also felt like I could definitely taste honey.

The tea leaves also look very interesting. They are rolled, long pieces of black tea leaves. This was also a fun one to watch unfurl in my clear glass tea mug that I used.

Love love love Cinnamon Rooibos Chai by DAVIDsTEA!

From the moment I smelled it to that very first sip, it was love at first sight.

It has a fairly noticeable aroma of cinnamon when you first smell it. I’m a huge fan of cinnamon so this doesn’t bother me one bit. Looking at the individual loose leaf pieces, I could see rooibos leaves, little pieces of cinnamon, and small chunks of apple.

The smell was pretty good but the taste was even better. It really reminded me of apple cider and I loooooove me some apple cider! The combination of rooibos, cinnamon, and apple work very well together and complement each other nicely. You could taste each ingredient, and one wasn’t too strong over the other. Even though you could really smell cinnamon, the taste of it was not that strong (although my opinion may be slightly biased since I am a seasoned cinnamon consumer).

I found Cinnamon Rooibos Chai to be a very sweet tea (pun intended) and am looking forward to my next cup!

Hello Cherry Blossom!

This was one of those teas I was really curious to try out. It was the first time I had a green and white tea blend, and I was worried I may over steep by accident.

Right away when you open the tin you are greeted with the smell of cherries and florals. The cherry smell was pretty strong, but it didn’t bother me one bit. I know some people are really put off by cherry scents and flavourings because it reminds them of cough syrup. I can see that happening here as the cherry aroma is pretty noticeable.

I noticed that once steeped the taste of cherry wasn’t as strong as the smell of cherry. You could definitely taste the cherry flavour and florals in the background, but I did not find it overpowering. In fact I found it to be a very delicate and and subtle tasting tea – quite the opposite of how it smelled.

I was kind of surprised DAVIDsTEA decided to add this to the 24 Days of Tea advent calendar. It really feels more of a spring/summer tea due to the floral and delicate taste, especially when comparing to the more winter teas that have flavours like cinnamon and hibiscus. Cherry Blossom didn’t rock my socks off, but I still found it to be very enjoyable, and I didn’t over steep it – yay!

Organic North African Mint by DAVIDsTEA was THE ONLY tea that I disliked the most out of the entire 24 Days of Tea.

I was going to use the word hate because that’s how much I did NOT like this tea, but hate is a pretty strong word to use in the same sentence as tea (and in general) and at the end of the day it’s still tea and I love tea.

But seriously, I thought this tea was so awful I couldn’t finish it.

The dominant flavour that kept hitting me in my face was BLACK PEPPER.

Holy cow was that pepper so strong, it entirely ruined everything.

It’s sad because I wanted to love this tea and I had really high hopes for it. It combined two types of teas I love – green and mint. In theory it should have been a magical tea but it makes me sad to say that it was really terrible.

After the shock of pepper subdued, you got a second round of spices in your face. Yes cardamon, ginger, and fennel – I’m looking at you.

This tea was also way too spicy it left my mouth burning and overall in a very uncomfortable state. Maybe I just got unlucky with the batch I got, because I couldn’t taste any green tea or peppermint. For now I have no urge to try this tea again anytime soon, as it left me kind of scarred.

Ah, Glitter & Gold. One of my favourite’s in the 24 Days of Tea samples and all around a DT fan fave.

Yes I realize it’s June and I’m still working on my 24 Days of Tea reviews. Better late than never right?

Anyways I literally had a cup of this yesterday and it reminded me why I like this tea so much.

It’s really smooth for a black tea and really easy on the taste buds. Plus that hint of cinnamon gives me that warm fuzzy feeling inside. It has a hint of cinnamon but not so much of it that it’s overpowering.

I found this tea so smooth that I just drank it as is. This is pretty rare for me when it comes to black teas – usually I always add in milk and sometimes a bit of honey. With glitter & gold I didn’t feel the need to add it in.

I also love that they added little gold stars, sparkles, and tiny square pieces of sugar. It definitely gives it that “glitter and gold” star power.

I only wish I came across this tea sooner. It looks like the earlier versions had these little gold balls instead of stars. When you swirl your tea around you actually see a patch of glitter swirling around in your cup. The first thing that comes to mind when I saw it was the milky way. I tried swirling my tea around with the newer batches but sadly it just not have that same effect.

I know this is going to sound Banana’s, but the first time I smelled this tea it reminded me of eggnog.

Don’t ask me why, but all I could smell was eggnog. I actually sat there for a while soaking up the smell to see if it would change, and all I could still smell was eggnog.

Out of curiosity I asked my mom and bf to tell me what it smelled like, and they both said like bananas. Go figure lol.

Anyways, I was really curious to try this tea because I’ve never had a banana flavoured tea before. Looking at the pieces individually, I could see dried banana pieces, almonds, dates and currants. So far it was looking good.

While I was steeping I noticed my water wasn’t really changing colour. I decided to give it an extra few minutes, and so my actual steep time was just under 10 minutes.

When it was finally done, the smell was divine! It smelled like warm banana bread straight from the oven!

The taste was almost on par with the smell. It was very sweet, buttery, nutty, and banana-y. I have to say it was pretty good for my first banana flavoured tea. Since it’s caffeine free it makes for a nice evening tea.

I noticed after steeping it left quite a mess in my infuser. Everything was really soft and mushy. I wouldn’t recommend using small infusers for this tea because cleaning it would be a pain. My guess is this is one-time-steep-only tea, but nevertheless I still enjoyed it.

The Sweet Almond Green by DAVIDsTEA is a sweet tea indeed.

At first I was a little put off by the smell. Out of the gate it had a strong almond extract smell to it. The kind of smell that really hits you in the face when you take that first sniff.

It does look very pretty though. It has a nice mixture of thin, long pieces of green tea leaves, with wider, flakier pieces. The blue cornflower and marigold flowers give it a nice touch as well. And of course there are small chunks of almond – otherwise we couldn’t call it an almond tea!

I’m glad to say that once I steeped my tea that strong almond extract smell went away. Instead there was now this softer, delicious almond aroma. Much better.

It also tastes very nice. You could definitely taste the almond and green tea – both were fairly noticeable but neither was overpowering. I found it to be a very enjoyable tea and it really reminded me of almond cookies. Its one of those teas that makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside, which makes this one of my favorite green tea blends from DT.

Also – I noticed the blue cornflower and marigold flowers disappeared after steeping. Does this usually happen when these flowers are steeped?
