Full Review on March 17th but here are snippts:

As a lover of oolong teas I can see how some people could be disappointed in this tea if they go into with expectations of it tasting like any other oolong they have ever had before.

Or if you are one who loves jasmine teas, I could see some disappointment there as well as this is not your typical jasmine tea either.
Honestly, if no one told me, or I had not read the label before hand, I would have thought this to be a puerh. The leaves do come from a tree that is over a thousand years old according to The Persimmon Tree’s description and I believe it as this tea does have an aged flavor to it for sure.

Other notes I pick up on aside from honey, berry, jasmine, and oolong, are mushroom, earth, woods, brown sugar, toasted oat bread, to name a few. You really need to discover this tea for yourself.

ashmanra

Wow! That is quite an intriguing description!

Azzrian

It is quite an interesting tea. Not what I would have expected but I like it :)

Rob Rauschenberg

Yes, this is interesting. Some teas seem to have a life of their own.

drank Mulberry Magic by DAVIDsTEA

Ironically I just started a diet AND just got done after a shower putting this wonderful soy oil in my hair for shine and repair. I then decided I had not had a David’s Tea in a while and I grabbed this one out of a box. Lo and Behold I totally forgot all about this being “slimming” and “good for hair” and whatever all that jazz said but I love the irony and coincidence of it all.
Still really enjoying this blend.

Sil

i totally read that as “i put soil in my hair” :)

Azzrian

Haha but ya know I WOULD do that probably. :)

Emily M

Same…did a double take. =P

Azzrian

Haha awesome I love it when that happens :)

Full review on March 16th on http://sororiteasisters.com/ but here are snippits:

2012 Margarets Hope Muscatel (2nd Flush) from Darjeeling Tea Lovers is such an easy tea to drink. It’s light but full bodied, has that wonderful muscatel wine like flavor of fermented grapes, but is accompanied by an almost bubbly mouthfeel.

The more the tea cools the more rich and full it becomes. I find it reminding me almost of a pu-erh with notes ranging from peat, oaky, and other aged woods. While the cup begins rather light by the end of the more cooled cup it thickens up and becomes far heavier in the sip.

What an interesting tea! One everyone should try in order to understand a truly wonderful Darjeeling!

So last night I steeped some Cinnamon Swirl Bread by sTEAp Shoppe. I got two great steeps out of the leaf and went to bed. I did not dump the leaf as I knew there was more to give. However when I woke up this morning I still did not want to waste the leaf but on the other hand needed a really STRONG cup of black tea to give me a boost after only a few hours of rest.
So I added some Fengquing Dragon Pearls from Teavivre!
VERY nice combo!
The pearls woke the Cinnamon Swirl Bread right back up without covering the wonderful flavors or the yummy puerh!
Can taste the pearls wonderfully as well.
Best of both worlds in two excellent teas!

Sil

oooh neat. i need to get me some of that cinnamon swirl bread tea…

Azzrian

you should especially if you love puerh blends! I love how the leaf is sort of meaty and chunky in parts. That sounds sort of gross maybe lol its the puerh which is sort of sticky from the goodies blended into the tea.
I really love this blend. I am going to order more sometime but seriously I have put myself on a strict hold until I sip down some teas that are getting close to a year old now.

Sil

yeah i’m trying to do that at the moment.. not that anything in my cupboard is that old but it’s going to be getting there…

At first I thought I had only one cup of this sample left. Then I could not find it! Panic set in! Then I found it – and there is more than one cup left! WOO HOOO. Enjoying it now. One of the best puerh blends I have had the pleasure of sipping!
Such a lovely treat to cure the sweet tooth!
YUM!
Thanks Janet of sTEAp Shoppe for making killer tea blends!

TastyBrew

You have complete sold me on this one. I’ve never had sTEAp shop teas before. They are now next on my list. Any others you’d recommend while I’m ordering?

Azzrian

Yes actually – let me go check the proper names for them and Ill post here soon.

TastyBrew

TastyBrew

Wow! I have some fun reading to do! Thanks!

So I got this in the mail yesterday and I’m desperate to try it, but no where on the label can i find how much to use per cup. I’ve never made pu ehr tea so I’m not sure how much to use. I don’t want to waste any so I want to do it right the first time. HELP PLEASE!

TastyBrew

I emailed the sTEAp shoppe and they got back to me super fast for a saturday morning. 1TBSP per 16oz. Here we go!!!

Azzrian

Oh so glad that got figured out! I just use about a teaspoon and a half for 8 ounce but I like my teas more stout.

Full Review on March 15th here http://sororiteasisters.com/
For now here are the snippits:

Oriental Beauty (Dong Fang Mei Ren) from Driftwood teas does what Oriental Beauty always does for me, surprises me. I am always taken aback by this tea because I adore oolong, but this is never what I expect an oolong to be! This tea is light, sweet, and fruity, with notes that lean toward muscatel, and juicy peach.

One thing that is a bit different from this Oriental Beauty is that the honey notes are really thick, as in lay in the back of your throat thick, and so wonderfully sweet. Also unlike some Oriental Beauty this tea does not have that drying sensation in the back of the throat. The tea coats the throat and lingers lightly with honey kissed floral notes.

Driftwood Tea certainly does bring us a wonderful example of a high quality Dong Fang Mei Ren with a light smooth taste and mouthfeel. Light, yet so very flavorful! You won’t be wishing for more flavor because this tea has it all from woodsy, sweet, fruity, spiced, and, muscatel, almost in a Darjeeling way, to apricot and floral notes.

drank White Ambrosia by White Lion Tea
807 tasting notes

Full Review on http://sororiteasisters.com/ on March 14th but here are the snippits:

White Lion Tea is served in spas and I can absolutely see why! Every blend I have sampled from White Lion Tea has been excellent! They are all in their own way either relaxing, or rejuvenating, and I can see how you could easily find one of their blends to fit your mood and needs perfectly!

You can taste the toasting of the coconut, which sets it apart from many of the other coconut tea blends out there. The pineapple is lighter and a nice afterthought that is not too powerful but present in the sip. It gives the tea a fruity punch toward the end of the sip.

I love the glass jars! Even though you want to keep them out of direct sunlight to preserve the flavor of the teas, they are so kitchy, so cute, and they look amazing displayed!

Ramvling

Wow, that sounds wonderful!

Azzrian

Been really happy with White Lion Teas so far. :)

Meg

Tea with toasted coconut sounds fantastic…. they sound like they have some great teas!

TheTeaFairy

Looks so pretty :-)

Azzrian

Yeah I am in love with these jars lol

Terri HarpLady

I have lurked on the white lion site more than once now…

Citrus Punch Matcha from Red Leaf Tea is really rather quite yummy! The reason I say that is because honestly I was a little apprehensive about trying this matcha.
I really thought it would be too tart, or too bitter, but its not! Its fresh, natural tasting, mix of orange, lemon, and lime. It reminds me a lot of a juice I used to drink when I was younger called Five Alive.

I made a latte with almond milk, and a splash of vanilla creamer and this matcha really tasted like a smoothie, or a Julius.

I am eager to try this matcha blended with some sparkling water or ginger ale as well!

Sometimes, with some matcha flavors I worry about a chemical after taste, and I am amazed that so much flavor can be packed into this dusty fine matcha powder! I don’t know how Red Leaf Tea does it, but I am so happy that they do!

Red Leaf Tea also has a fruit punch flavor I am dying to try, I have that on my shopping list! Then they recently released Apple Pie, Berry Pie, and French Butter Cookie, all which instantly made it on my shopping list as well.

Keep coming out with the amazing flavors Red Leaf Tea, and like a minion I will keep on buying!

As for this flavor, love it!

Alphakitty

There’s a fruit punch matcha?! How did I miss that. My 3 + 1 planned order is quickly becoming 5 + 2…. so many good flavors!

Kasumi no Chajin

there is also a sangria matcha…

Azzrian

There is AlphaKitty! I cant wait to try that one too and yes Kasumi is correct! The Sangria is also good as well.

Starfevre

There are a lot of flavours that aren’t in the dropdown menus.

Alphakitty

For the combo sets you can put in the notes what flavors you want if they’re not listed in the dropdown menu, so they are indeed available that way!

KeenTeaThyme

This sounds really refreshing! I’d love to try this one, and the grapefruit matcha. Although, honestly, I’m still in love with that strawberry champagne one you created with Red Leaf for our exchange. It smells like happy. :)

Azzrian

Aweee thank you! Mmmm now I want to have some lol

KeenTeaThyme

Maybe they could make it part of their permanent stock? I wanted to buy more – I ration it out and am running dangerously low myself!

Full review on March 12th 2013 on http://sororiteasisters.com/ but here are snippits:

This tea can be purchased by the ounce or in a try me size which is really special because yellow teas are not only a little more rare to come by but usually you won’t find a means to sample them easily.

I was really happy to find this tea in my most recent package of tea samples from my SororiTea Sister Jennifer. I love yellow teas and am always eager to try a new one. I do recall having seen this tea offered by Compass before but I sort of spaced it out and never got around to ordering any. Also I will admit, orange flavored teas are not generally my “go to” flavor in teas, yet I am so happy to have had the change to sample this one. It’s quite delightful!

Here are snippits:

I have a handful of favorite strawberry teas and I have to say this one rivals them all. Considering the cost point of just a tad over 2.00 USD per ounce, this one may be the best so far. Not that I mind paying more for a better tea, but this is right at the level of my favorite strawberry teas that are more expensive.

This is a stash keeper in my book. Fresh juicy strawberry flavor with a creamy dessert finish.

Sil

hmmmm…. may need to try this lol

Josie Jade

YAY! Glad you liked it!!

Most of my reviews will be “snippits” of full reviews that can be found at http://sororiteasisters.com/
Posted every evening at 6 EST.
I usually try to post the exact date that the full reviews will post however sometimes post dates need changed so it may not always be correct. Generally the dates are correct however.

About Me:

Most of my reviews, although not all, will be quite favorable of the tea. This is not because all tea is excellent, but more so because I generally will not waste my time on an inferior tea. If I do not care for a tea I won’t continue to drink it let alone spend time reviewing it. If you see a review by me you basically know it is a quality tea. Granted it may not suit your specific taste buds, we all like different things, but as for a tea on the whole it is a good one, from a good company.

I am a spiritual advisor by profession.
I have two “young adult” children.
Four cats and three dogs.

Some of my hobbies include gardening, essential oil therapy, natural perfumery with essential oils, and cooking.

I look for complexity overall in any tea, dimensions to the flavors.

I believe tea should evoke a feeling, thought, emotion, or attitude.

I enjoy most all oolongs, blacks, whites, and greens.

I always love to try a good yellow tea.

I favor unadulterated teas but I do have my longings for a good flavored tea now and then so I don’t rule them out by any means!

I enjoy green rooibos don not like red rooibos.
