911 Tasting Notes
This is a Chinese green that has some similarities in flavor to a mild sencha. I think it is the vegetal taste that makes me think of that. For me, this is a great Chinese green. Sweet, smooth, not salty at all. I’m now out of this tea but it’s on my short list to order again.
Not a big fan. It’s kind of raw tasting to me with little actual flavor. Too much herbal flavor, not enough (or any) floral or citrus aromas or tastes. Too boring for me though I do know at least one person that has fallen in love with it because of the mildness. For me, it is just a nice base for flavoring teas. I put some almond extract with it and it was pretty good. But plain, yeah, just not my thing.
I love this tea. Nice and citrus-y but not overpoweringly so. A bit lighter than most EGs. Has a bit of a lemon taste but not enough to make you think of household cleaning supplies or anything. Really nice and perfect with a little sugar and a dash of milk. Sadly, this is the last of it – a running theme with my black teas currently. Just an excuse to get more!
Followed the directions of 2mins at boiling. In the bag it smelled like Strawberry Quik but the brewed tea has a slightly more tart smell. Tastes… odd. Like it should be overpoweringly sweet or sour but is neither but rather a nice, mild mix of the two. Put some milk in the second half to see how it was… makes it taste very dessert-like but still not overpowering in flavor. I think it’d be an awesome smoothie.
Trying this out with my new gaiwan. Flavor still doesn’t have the depth I was hoping for but it is concentrated enough that I can taste something very much pineapple-y.
Gotta add, as it cooled a bit, it became quite enjoyable. By far the best cup of this I’ve had.
