2799 Tasting Notes
Thank you to VariaTEA for the sample! I still have a tsp left to make another cup.
I drank this hot, and enjoyed it. However, I still have no idea what it is supposed to taste like. I taste a very vegetal green base (also there is matcha in it). The toasted rice gives it a nice toasty grain flavour that I love genmaicha for. I can taste some spices and creaminess here. I can taste some spices (although not specifically cinnamon). A bit of bitterness in after taste, but still tasty. With a touch of milk, it is even better!
Flavors: Bitter, Creamy, Grain, Green, Rice, Spices, Sweet, Toasted, Toasted Rice, Toasty
4g, 90 deg. C water
Steep one: 30 seconds
Lightly fruity, distinctly oolong, some light toasty flavours
Steep 2:30 seconds
Less fruity, more buttery/creamy
Steep 3: 2 minutes
Wooow that got astringent/bitter fast
Steep 4: 30 seconds
Milk flavour is present, but the oolong isn’t much more than that.
Meh, I’ve had better milk oolongs. It isn’t as flavourful as I usually like, and I’m not impressed with any tea that can turn bitter/astringent.
Flavors: Astringent, Bitter, Fruity, Milk
Sipdown! I only had one dragon ball…so it was going to happen once I steeped this
Steep 1: 70 deg. C water, 6 minutes
Ended up being a rinse because there was no flavour
Steep 2: 95 deg. C, 6 minutes
Beautiful white tea flavour, slightly sweet, notes of dry grass and lots of tannin
Steep 3: It kind of reminds me of a yabao, it tastes sun dried and aged
Steep 4: Still very tasty, but I guess I’m not much in the mood for white tea today so I\m going to stop here. This tea is fantastic, it deserves a good 6+ steeps.
Flavors: Dry Grass, Sweet, Tannin
This is steeped in a small teapot (200 mL?) , I am gong fu brewing this with 4g leaf
Thank you to Mackie for the sample.
Steep 1: 70 deg. C, 10 seconds
Very light, jade oolong flavour is present, slightly buttery
Steep 2: 70 deg. C water, 45 secpnds
Stronger flavour, milk flavour is starting to come out, but this tea is extremely astringent
steep 3: boiling water, 8 seconds
hmm flavour is weak again but astringency is back, nothing really stands out (no floral, fruity, creamy notes), flavour is pretty unremarkable and generic
Steep 4: boiling water, 45 seconds
Astringency is back. Apparently short steep times give you little flavour, and longer ones are overpowered by astringency
I’m going to end things here. This is unimpressive and there are many better milk oolongs out there for a similar price. Don’t waste your time with this one.
Flavors: Butter, Milk
This review is for the decaf version of Damask Rose.
1.5 tsp leaf, 600 mL hot water (96 deg. C), 5 minutes
Rebrew with same parameters
The base is tasty, fairly flavourful while not being bitter at all. pleasant floral rose favour. There isn’t much here other than rose and black tea, but it is still very tasty.
Flavors: Floral, Perfume, Rose, Tannin
