52 Tasting Notes
When I first heard of this tea, I was not sold. Mushrooms are not my favorite to begin with and the though of having something I associate primarily with savory food was not appealing to me. I ordered a set from David’s Tea and it was included in the set. It was a small sample meant for 2-3 cups of tea so I thought I was give it a try.
First sip was weird. It had a woody and earthy notes along with a cocoa note. As someone who loves earthy teas, I was still unsure of what to comprehend. I could not smell the mushrooms which is why I tried it again. I tried again with an open mind setting aside any thoughts i had previously. Oddly, the taste grew on me. I kept going back to it. I ordered more it to drink for a little while. It is a tea that I am going to enjoy while it lasts but not something that I would shed a tear over when it is discontinued.
Regarding the detox properties- Did not notice anything detoxifying and was not expecting anything in regards to those properties as well.
Note: The re-steep is quite weak and do not save the steeped leaves for a long time before your next re-steep. The mushroom flavor starts to come through a lot more prominently when you leave the wet leaves out for hours before your next steep.
Flavors: Cocoa, Earth, Mushrooms, Wet Moss
I got the iced tea version of this tea. I wish I had just gotten the regular version of it… It was a smaller amount for the same price. It was about 8 tsp if you want the same amount as an iced tea pouch. Tried it a few different ways. The way that worked the best for me was to cold brew it for 15 hours or more. I would pop a bag into a quart mason Jar and all the flavors came through.
Flavors: Apple, Fruity, Passion Fruits, Sour, Sweet
Although this one is fan favorite, it is just an average tea that I would drink but not one that I would buy again. It was fruity and nutty but there was some part that was missing. The artificial Flavoring was a little too much for my taste. There was something a little off about the tea. It was sickeningly sweet to me. I also prefer to drink all my teas unsweetened which might be why it was not a good experience for me.
Flavors: Almond, Fruity, Nuts, Nutty
First Lapsang I tried just from the description at the airport. I was blown away. It was like if you could turn Christmas lifetime movie into a drink. It was warm, toasty and reminded me of a camp fire on a cold day- an odd description for tea but it created a nice ambiance.
It was very very smokey, artificial, it was what I liked. I love the smokey taste so much and it was very prominent in this tea. The tea was very forgiving in the brew time. I found that out by accident. It is also not as great when cold, so drink it when its hot or warm. Cold it taste like liquid smoke.
Definitely glad I picked this up at the airport and I am trying to find a lapsang similar to this one. Having a hard time doing that though.
First Impression: creates a murky green brew. I brewed it at a green tea temperature. Could only get one brew out it.
Taste: A Strong orange Citrus flavor with a light floral note to it. The citrus flavor is the most prominent. It was rather lovely.
Better than I had expected. It was good but it did not do anything for colds/health benefits.
I would not buy it for that purpose although Republic of Tea does make other teas for that, this one did not hit the mark for that purpose.
It was something that I liked while it lasted but it is not something that I would purchase again. It was okay nothing exceptional.
Flavors: Citrus, Floral, Orange
