Thanks again to Jenn for the sample of this delicious tea. Well, I’ve been feeling quite burned out on green tea lately, I have too much of it and it makes my stomach hurt at times. This tea is ridiculously good, however. I’ve found a shorter brewing time really seems to help with the greens.

Anyway, this tea is another good replacement for soda. I’ve had it hot and I’ve had it iced, it is really good both ways. My first expereince with kukicha, I am really liking it. This is a low astringency tea which can be very helpful for those of us with delicate tummies. The lime flavor really shines through here for me, both in aroma and flavor. Seems to me more like a key lime pie… so sweet and so delicious!

I am on a big oolong kick and this tea is lovely, it did not disappoint me at all. This is a highly fragrant tea – my nose went into the bag and I was all smiles. Picked up lots of maple and a bit of creaminess as well. Definitely a great dessert tea, after one infusion the leaves unroll and open up, here it is at the height of its’ flavor. After multiple infusions, the maple/cream flavoring does get milder but you’re still left with an exceptionally smooth and mild oolong which is good for several infusions more. I should mention I drank my tea with vanilla soymilk which might have helped with the creaminess factor.

drank Cinnamon Roll Honeybush by 52teas

First of all, thanks to Jenn for sending me a sample of this. I was very skeptical that i would like honeybush because I am really not a fan of red rooibois, to me it has such a medicinal aftertaste…

But the honeybush is sweet and lovely! I am a huge fan of cinnamon and I am finding this to be an excellent dessert tea. It does smell sort of buttery and sugary and I am sure I will be drinking a lot of this when the temperature in san Francisco goes down and the rain starts up. Great job, Frank. Truly yummy…

I totally agree with the medicinal red rooibus taste. It reminds me of the yucky herbal concoction my mom would force down my throat when I was young and sick. But i’m finding that the right flavoring can turn rooibus into something tasty. I’m also starting to like honeybush because of 52teas. mmmm…flavors…

TeaBrat

yes, the coconut cheesecake honeybush is really good too!

drank Organic Spicy Ginger by Tazo

I keep trying to find tea substitutes so I don’t end up drinking soda. I am not so crazy about this tea when it’s hot, but if you ice it, it’s just as cool and refreshing as ginger ale! yummy yum yum!

Another sample from Golden Moon – I was a little underwhelmed by this one myself. With such an enticing name as sugar caramel, I was expecting something sweeter and more dessert like. Anyhow, this is still a very nice mild green oolong, does not quite live up to the name but still very drinkable. I probably would not buy this again only because I have had better plain oolongs and much better flavored dessert oolongs – lol!

drank Coconut Pouchong by Golden Moon Tea

I really love coconut so I had to try the coconut pouchong by Golden Moon, having read so many good things about it. This is a lovely tea, there is no doubt about it. Nice coconut smell and flavor with a hint of buttery-ness. The flavor is more subtle than you would expect from something like a dessert tea, for instance. Light and delicious. I definitely would buy this again but it’s a toss up between this tea and Rishi’s coconut oolong. They are both so good.

drank Strawberry Zabaglione by 52teas

this is a very nice black strawberry tea; I do think that adding milk (or in my case, Coconut Dream) helps to bring out the custardy flavor. Has a great smell and a lovely smooth finish. I’m not totally sure I would buy this one again (read my tealog to find out which Strawberry tea I fell in love with. :))

I’m usually not into fruity teas, but this one sounds freakin delicious. Kind of makes me hungry :p

I am a fan of fruity teas, especially for iced tea!

drank Hand Picked Bao Zhong by Samovar
2816 tasting notes

Had the most delicious Hand Picked Bao Zhong tea today at Samovar/Yerba Buena in San Francisco. Yes, this place is expensive but at least the waitstaff is incredibly friendly and nice. My firs time trying a Thai oolong. I was told to steep the leaves for only 20 seconds, but I gave it at least 60 seconds and it was still really good.

The notes at the teahouse called this buttery with mango and asparagus. I was not disappointed. This was a delightful, light butter and vegetal tea with a very smooth mouthfeel. I did not pick up so much on the mango. Picked up a bag to take home with me, I will really enjoy this.
