1796 Tasting Notes
Plum Deluxe Advent Day 10
(backlog)
Another nutty decaf tea? Meh. This one actually smells really good- like the cinnamon coated almonds I used to get at Ren Faire. I’m tasting too much of the rooibos- not quite sure why it’s necessary here. Cinnamon, almond, rooibos. Not much orange.

(backlog)
Another absolutely delicious tea from Dustin! This smells divine- like honeyed rose petals and sticky sweet apples. Tastes pretty much exactly as it smells. The rose and apple work so well together. There’s actually a tearoom near me that’s doing afternoon tea to go and they offer this as a selection, so I may have to treat myself!
Flavors: Apple, Honey, Rose
Preparation
Brought this to work and enjoyed a cup there…but the violet flavor has faded a bit. It’s still delicious, but it lacks that distinct violet flavor that I loved so much. The elderberry is the most dominant flavor.
Why is Lupicia soooooo gooooddddd?? The oolong has a distinct lilac flavor. It’s fresh, green, and floral. Combined with the grape flavor?? So tasty. I love a flavored oolong and this blend does a great job of balancing the oolong’s natural flavor with the flavoring.
Plum Deluxe Advent Day 11
Very much like DavidsTea’s Forever Nuts and Forever Frosty. Very almondy, with a bit of orange. I’m getting a similar bubblegum flavor that I dislike in Forever Frosty.
But it just seems like there just isn’t enough dry leaf to make a proper cup. I used the entire packet and only a few ounces of water and it was still extremely weak and watery.
Advent from Dustin Day 11
Another new to me brand and blend. I’d actually never heard of Curtis, so I’m even more excited to brew this up. Also…Banana Flambe?? Sounds incredible.
The dry leaf doesn’t have much of a scent, but once the water hits it, I’m blasted with a burst of banana deliciousness.
Absolutely incredible! A mild, malty flavor in the black base. Tastes like a fresh banana drizzled in caramel. Would be delicious with a bit of cream/milk.
Flavors: Caramel, Malt
It’s so weird how it does that! It does not smell interesting at all until you steep it! It’s the first/only Curtis tea I’ve tried as well.
Courtney- No smokiness at all in my opinion.
Dustin- It was such a pleasant surprise!
Martin- Ooh good to know! I’m definitely interested in trying more of their blends.
This sounds SO good. I’m gonna have to order some to try. (: I wonder how their other teas are the grape one has good reviews as well.
Advent from Dustin Day 10
Another Lupicia blend! I’m very thankful for being able to try all of these blends that would’ve been either difficult/impossible for me to attain otherwise. Thank you, Dustin!
This smells like strawberry and lychee gummy candies. Tastes like them too. It’s sticky sweet, and absolutely delicious. I love that it’s on a black base, as lychee blends rarely are (at least in my experience). Another blend I would gladly repurchase if I had the chance.
Flavors: Candy, Lychee, Strawberry
Kusmi Advent Day 9
I’ve been very much in a mint tea mood, and always enjoy a flavored green tea…so this was a welcome sight this morning. In particular, it was nice to have a break from all of the rooibos/honeybush blends.
The green base is smooth and lacks any bitterness. It is slightly vegetal. Mostly a fresh, cooling spearmint.
