1800 Tasting Notes
Sipdown 123-2021
A sad sipdown. I’ve really enjoyed having this tea on hand, I find it so dimensional and exciting to drink. This cup was particularly nutty, with some mild cranberry notes, and just a touch of marzipan. I’ll probably re-purchase it at some point.

Finished this off as a coldbrew with honey. The lychee scent is absolutely divine. The front of the sip is juicy, and tastes like biting into a fresh lychee. However, there is a really strong perfumey flavor at the end of the sip and in the aftertaste. The perfumey flavor is so distracting, it’s difficult to enjoy the fresh, juiciness.

I just finished off the matcha genmaicha from the unknown brand that I had as an iced tea, and it was absolutely delicious. Wanting more, I scoured my stash to find another. I’m pretty sure this is the only matcha genmaicha I have left, so decided to finish it off as a cold brew.
It’s relatively old, and I didn’t store it all that well, so I wasn’t expecting much, but it’s still quite nice. Mostly the toasty genmai flavor, with just a touch of grassiness. Unfortunately it’s a bit bitter, especially compared to the impeccably smooth blend I just had (wish I knew what it was, because I would repurchase).

Not technically a sipdown, but I’m still counting it, as it’s going into the swap pile. Coldbrewed a small amount, and it just does not work for me. The combination of jasmine, coconut, and cherry intrigued me. But, it just tastes like old cherry chapstick.
Lol that’s like failed car sale
I still have a tiny bit left in the pouch you sent me. I can’t bring myself to finish it. It looks like they still have it on their website though, so I just need to go ahead and buy a bag of it.
Just an idea I recently got into habit of mixing anything I am struggling to enjoy with bits of gotu kola
@Sierge Krьstъ – I can’t say I’ve ever had gotu kola on its own. What does it taste like?
