I received this tea in the weekly Twitter contest. I really wanted to love this tea. Sadly, I can’t say that I do. The first time around I didn’t get much flavor out of it, honestly. It was pale in color and very light in flavor. I let it steep for a good 7-8 mins. I used just under boiling water. I couldn’t taste much of anything, accept a slight crispness.

Second go around this morning, same 3 horns. Hotter water, at just boiling, steeped for about 8 minutes. There is definitely more flavor this time around. It is crisp and somewhat peachy, I can kind of get that champagne-like flavor as well, but I’m finding it bland and a little, well, funky and not fresh. I do like peach, and I do like champagne, but for some reason, this tea is just not doing it for me. Perhaps I will send it on to someone else. :)

Just so you guys know the sample has now been spoken for. :)

I use 6 horns minimum

This was free to me thanks to the catalog. :) It’s somewhat tart, somewhat sweet, crisp , fruity, ripe, actually quite delightful, and a lovely dark red shade when brewed. I did not expect to like this, I was pleasantly surprised.

Almost everyone at work has been calling in sick lately ( I should know, I have to find their replacements!). I drank this one this morning as an attempt to bolster my immune system. My sister gave this tea to me as it was not to her liking. I would probably have never bought it myself, my last attempts at drinking anything with echinacea have gone terribly wrong. Upon deciding to drink it, I figured I could at least try choking it down for my health. I was wrong! This is actually pretty pleasant and quite drinkable. It’s kinda minty, and yes the echinacea is there but its not too pungent and kinda sweet. Would I choose to drink it if it were not cold season? Probably not, but for this purpose, this is the best I’ve tried by far!

Cofftea

If you like raspberry, Twinings raspberry echinacea is a must try!

amandajo

Thanks cofftea, may have to give that a whirl. :) And how do you make text bold on here? I’ve tried html to no avail (maybe I’m doing something wrong?

Jaime

Put a * on either side of the word. For italics, put an underscore on either side of it.

Cofftea

Yep * then word then * no spaces

Thank you ladies!

Licorice, Cinnamon, and Carob is an odd combination. Not necessarily bad, just different and takes some getting used to. It is certainly a strong tea (as one would undoubtedly gather just by reading the ingredient list!). Are the flavors fighting each other? A bit, but its kind of an enjoyable fight. Think of a black licorice whip wrapped around a cinnamon stick with a carob pod shoved in there. Do I feel any different after drinking it? Yes, I think I do feel calmer and less “bitchy”. I think I like the taste, its growing on me.

Jaime

I need to invest in some of this before next week…I’ll need all the help being “less bitchy” that I can get!

This tea smells heavenly, I had a hard time waiting the 7 minutes to drink it! Actually, the fact that I could smell the chocolate through the tin was what led me to buy it in the first place (it was between this tea and chocolate orange rooibos year of the tiger tea). First impression: kinda weak, not particularly rich in the chocolate or mate. I decided to let it cool a bit, as it was still too hot to really tell. A few minutes later: still a little more subtle than I had hoped, but very drinkable. I have to remind myself that this is tea, not hot chocolate, to judge based on what is there, not expectation. While in the mouth, it doesn’t taste like much, but during the swallowing process and aftertaste, its kinda toasty and a pretty tasty, mild soothing chocolate.

I find it very hard to not compare chocolate teas to hot chocolate. I wonder if making this latte style would bring out more chocolate flavor? Glad to hear it was drinkable!

The dry leaf smell on this tea is, for lack of a better word, strange. I must admit, my nose was a little confused. I had never smelled anything quite like that before. (I think I even heard Frank laugh a little). I was a little skeptical about ordering, but of course, its the tea of the week, and I really do love grasshopper anything.

The taste? Ever had Braum’s Peppermint Ice Cream? That’s exactly what came to mind when I drank this one as an iced latte. It is mouthwateringly good. Of course it’s not peppermint in this tea, its spearmint, which in my humble opinion makes it better than peppermint ice cream (geez, I didn’t know that was even possible) as it brings that unique factor. Thank you Frank, I think I have a new favorite.

Jaime

I can’t wait until mine arrives!!

Meghann M

Jealous again of your closeness to the shop:) Glad this is so amazing…now if it will just stay in stock until next friday…

Thank you Miss Meghann for sending this my way! I too am getting a faint minty smell here along with the yummy berry. The taste is very berry, even slightly sour ( I don’t really see this as a bad thing). There is a soothing quality to this tea. And I think I am detecting the mint in there with the taste as well (either that or its the power of suggestion). ;)

This was my wake up tea today. It is indeed very floral; it almost tickles the tongue. The green tea is pleasant, not overtly grassy or overpowering and quite refreshing.

mmm…Berry & Rose latte with my breakfast this morning…damn that’s good stuff. I cooked it on the stove as one would chai. The milk and sugar really helped to bring out the strawberry. :)

Jaime

A berry & rose latte sounds delish! I’m going to have to find me some of this tea!

Cofftea

I’d personally leave out the milk, but the tea itself sounds AMAZING.

amandajo

It is wonderful by itself as well. :)

amandajo

And Jaime… www.blueq.com There’s a where to buy section with a store locator and online ordering is available as well. When I purchased it at a local Health Food store it was less expensive.

Meghann M

Rose teas are among some of my favorites, but I’ve never had one with berry. And served latte style? This sounds great!

Jaime

OMG BBQ!! Apparently there’s a store in town where I can buy their tea!! Yup, I know where I’m going after work.

amandajo

That’s awesome! :D

Jaime

I’m now the proud owner of Berry & Rose and the Oolong with Plum! I’m gonna doctor myself up and hopefully be able to taste one of these in the morning.

And who knew a head shop sells tea? They even had teapots and tea sets for sell!

Meghann M

Just went to the site and I may have another shop to stop at on Wednesday! The teabags have the cutest art on them. I really love the kittens on the green tea orange. Thanks amandajo for pointing me in the direction of another tea company:)

amandajo

No problem Meghann, glad to be of service. ;) Wouldn’t it be awesome if all tea websites had store locators?

Not quite sure how, but this tea made a bad day one heck of a lot better! I was at work yesterday and irritable as all get out. I had tucked a bag of this in my purse earlier in the day. I brewed a cup. A few minutes later I was changing my tune. It truly smells like fresh cut roses. The taste is also incredible: its like drinking a bouquet with a fine black tea and there’s a little sweet berry tossed in. It’s very smooth and just different enough to make it special. Aromatherapy? Taste therapy? All I know is that it did the trick! :)
