61 Tasting Notes
A fellow tea lover friend of mine bought this and didn’t enjoy it too much so he gifted it to me. It tastes unlike anything else amongst my vast collection. I did rather enjoy it, but not enough to buy it when I run out.
Update: 6/22/13 Okay, I lied. I bought the Twinings Rooibos one last time I was buying tea.
Anytime I see a new breakfast blend, I always have to give it a try. This time was no different. Especially with a name as exciting as “Safari Breakfast” which to me translates to “before you encounter lions, you’re gonna need a cup of this.” It is a beautifully blended black tea, just as I’ve come to expect from Harney & Sons. Very strong, comparable to most breakfast blends, an all around good cuppa.
Preparation
Had my first cup of this at Bonefish Grill tonight and it was a delightful end to a good meal. A perfect earl grey. Well balanced flavor and I must say one of the better earl greys our there…and I love most earl greys so that’s saying something. Gonna have to buy a box soon to add to my tea cupboard.
I bought this tea at a local English pub with a small shoppe in it selling British goods. A box of this tea, some Quavers, and a Mars bar, and I’m walking out a happy girl after finishing my curry chicken. I actually ordered PG Tips to drink while there as my husband downed a London Porter with his meat pie. When I got the tea I noticed the round tea bag and thought it was weird since the PG Tips I have in my cupboard comes in pyramid shaped bags but when I sipped it nothing seemed amiss. When I got home and opened my newly purchased box of Typhoo to try for the first time, I recognized that this is what they served me instead of PG Tips. They both taste very similar and are both similarly strong when steeped for even the shortest amount of time. I pour the water from my kettle directly on to the bag (a process I do with all my tea bags and infusers because I believe it makes it steep faster in my impatient mind) and smush it around with my tea bag tongs for about 10 seconds then throw it away. It packs a punch even with such a minimal steep time. With teas other than PG Tips, Yorkshire, and now Typhoo I usually prefer to leave the tea bag or infuser in the entire time I’m drinking it because I like it strong, but those 3 kick my taste buds butt. Recommend if you like PG Tips and Yorkshire.
Preparation
I received a sampling box of Talbot teas for Christmas that I forgot to input to my cupboard and this one was the first of the lot of them that I tried. I rarely find myself disappointed in a breakfast tea. From English to Irish and now Paris, they are all delectable. Paris Breakfast, while very similar to both it’s British Isles cousins, has more in common with English Breakfast in my opinion. In short, it’s a very good cuppa. _
Got a whole gang of Bentley’s teas for Valentine’s day from my dad and am just now remembering to add them to my cupboard. So far, I can’t stop having this one. It is pure heaven. And my husband says its “not as bad as the other ones” so that’s saying something since he absolutely hates all things earl grey. Earl grey has always been my “safe tea” when I’m out because its the one tea that most restaraunts that offer tea carry an earl grey and they always taste pretty similar and enjoyable to me. I would list this one today as my 2nd favorite earl grey tea. My 1st being Kusmi’s Bouquet of Flowers No. 108 which I should really get to ordering soon.
I received a sample of this with my Prince Vladimir I got for Christmas and was very excited to try it as I am an Earl Grey fan. It smelled great upon first opening it and mushing the cute unsuspecting bag to my nose. While it steeped it smelled even better. And the taste…. Mmmmmmm. This has to be my favorite Earl Grey ever. It doesn’t have the over powering citrus taste that most Earl Greys are known for, or atleast that’s how my taste buds see things.
Preparation
I visited a British store and found this adorable red english telephone booth tin filled with packets of this tea. (I really bought it for the tin, the tea was like a “free gift with purchase” deal.) I’m drinking it for the first time now and it is really good and strong. My new electric kettle boils my water like crazy and it takes about 30 minutes before the tea is sippable afterwards, but I think it really makes my teas crazy strong. I usually just stick with Twinings English breakfast but this is a great alternative.
