This tea brews up the colour of liquid gold. It’s slightly smokey , very woodsy and no bitterness at all. Also, very sweet.

I enjoyed this tea but it didn’t grab me as something I had to buy. Maybe if I drink it again….

This came from the monthly W2T box I am sharing with Christina. I have ripe puer with tangerine before and wasn’t too impressed but gave this one a try.

Although I found this puer smooth with no bitterness, I couldn’t pick up an citrus notes. I may give this one a try on another day. I find that many things determine how you feel about a tea on that day. Even with some of my typical green teas I have quite often; there are days when it’s amazing and other days when it’s only okay.

I tried this tea a few months ago , loved it , but failed to write a review at the time.

This is the BEST Tie Guan Yin I’ve ever had. It has an amazing floral bouquet. It’s very light with not a hint of bitterness. There’s a bit of sweetness and buttery flavour to round out that great floral aroma and taste.

This tea is expensive but I say it is worth it and plan on getting some if I place an order in the future (and there’s still some left).

Instead of starting off my morning with my typical peppermint tea, I thought I would try this tea since I’m working from home today. All I can say is Holly crap! This tea has kick! I’m used to my herbal tea gently hydrating me and then having a green tea later.

First off I used a bit of leaf on this one which is typical for pu-erh. Dry it does smell a bit minty and mushroomy as they describe in the tea details. It brews up an amber colour . There was a bit of apricot & mushroom. Quite pleasant tasting and not much bitterness at all.

The first cup gave me too much energy so afterwards I went and took less than half the leaves I had already used (Why not? It’s my tea.) and still brewed at 10 seconds. Ah, yes, this is my tea now. Juicy mouth feel with apricot. I’m not getting much mushroom in the lighter steeps. The brew is still a slightly dark amber. I’m also getting a slight buttery or nuttiness to it that I didn’t get on the first strong steep.

If I had a cake of this tea, it would last forever since I prefer to brew it light and it doesn’t require much leaves for that.

This is a pretty good herbal blend to have for the evening. It’s minty but I also can pick up the lemongrass along with it. I can also detect nettle. It blends nicely with the peppermint and lemongrass and if I wasn’t familiar with nettle I wouldn’t know it was there. It seems like it’s the nettle keeping the peppermint from being too sharp. I think the lemongrass should be just a tad stronger though. It seems to fade a bit in some sips.

Overall, a pleasant tea but I have everthing in my cupboard to make this tea myself.

It has a nice sweetness. No bitterness and there’s a slight floral note in it. It has a slight heaviness or oil feel in the mouth which I like too. Overall a great sheng!

I needed this after my scare of the snake. I’ve been in this house many years and never saw a snake in the front or back garden. Well today I open up my back door and there’s a baby brown snake on the door step!!!! Yikes! My cat stepped right over it. He’s blind and it didn’t move when he stepped over it so no problem However once he sensed it’s movement he would be right on it. I have no idea of what type of snake this was so I just wanted to get rid of it without hurting it. I finally got it in the big outside dustpan and took it to the front garden. Hubby says I was kind of mean to put it so close to the road but I checked later and didn’t see any dead snakes so he must have hid somewhere. Wish I could have taken him even further away but will see. I hope he doesn’t come back!!!

I messed up a bit with the first brewing and had enough to make another brew, thank goodness. This is another tea from the farmer Mr. Chen Shi Yi, that does all organic teas.

One of the things I love about green teas is the buttery, nutty flavours but I’m always up for something different once in awhile. I found this one smelled buttery when brewed but I didn’t get much of that buttery nutty flavour in the taste. There was a good sweetness that lingered on the tongue. On Sanne Tea’s website it is mentioned that it was tricky to brew to get the right sweetness and no astringent flavour released from the leaves. I ended up with a bit of astringency even though I used the right temperature.

In spite of the fact that it brews up a good golden yellow it tastes quite light. Overall a good cup

This tea was perfect for an autumn day. The tea leaves when infused look like autumn leaves and it almost has that autumn leaves taste to it. It brews up light with a light mouth feel. There’s a honey sweetness & stone fruit taste that stays with each infusion (I did 3) Very enjoyable!

I loved hearing about the farmer too. This is what Lulu told me:

“Our Green Tea and Oriental Beauty are from Mr. Chen Shi Yi. He is an Organic farmer. Organic agriculture is still developing in Taiwan. He is currently one of only 22 organic tea farmers in the Pinglin area, New Taipei City. To become a qualified farmer, he has to put incredible efforts into making sure that his teas have zero pesticide residue.
The Taiwanese organic certification is typically not recognized by many Westerns, but the Taiwanese organic standard is, in fact, amended from similar regulations in the USA and Europe. Some standards may even be stricter than the US’s, like the fact that 5% pesticide residue is allowable in the USDA certification, but zero residue is allowable in the Taiwanese organic standard. Some farmers are eager to push the government to broaden the zero residue standards to include an allowable amount of pesticide residue, but, right now, most Taiwanese still believe that any organic product should have zero residue.
I would love to share more about Mr. Chen Shi Yi and his family. 10 years ago, he found his neighbor, another tea farmer, had fainted on his tea farm from breathing in too much pesticide. This accident made him rethink the danger of pesticide. He intended to gather his neighbors and get everyone to practice the new cultivation methods together. Unfortunately, his neighbors declined. They worried that the profits would not be enough to support their families. He had once told me “I am lucky that my only son has a secure job, so I only need to take care of my wife and myself. My wife and I agreed that we should put our health first, and make only the teas we love for the rest of our lives”.
Mr. Chen has a soft heart and strong will, as do his teas. His teas are very elegant, smooth, and capable of many brews. When brewing, his teas have a clean smell that lingers long after drinking, which is achieved from a time-consuming process method. He believes that a soft fire makes sweet malt. When making his teas, he takes extra effort to make sure that every process is fully completed before going on to the next. There are no regular working hours. He, Mrs. Chen and his daughter-in-law have to take turns working through the night to make sure everything is done at the correct times and nothing is processed too long or too quickly. "

This tea is full of a nutty, grainy goodness. There’s a bit of roasty flavour to it too but it seems to me that this is a bit less roasted flavour than other buckwheat teas I’ve had. I’m really not sure about that and would have to try them side by side to determine.

Anyway, greatly enjoyed this cup. It comes at a great time when the weather is cooling down. I haven’t had any desire to have buckwheat tea during the hot summer days. Somehow it just loses it’s charm when I have it during a warm or hot day. Just like hot chocolate, this tea is best on cold days. The colder the better. It really warms you up inside and makes you feel cozy.

I was expecting these pearls to be tiny like jasmine pearls. When I read on the pkg to use 3-5 pearls per cup I was a bit surprised. Then I opened the package and saw how big each pearl was. I am already on my second cup of this tea today. It doesn’t taste like any oolong I’ve had before. It reminds me a bit of Moonlight tea and some whites. I just love it. It brews up a medium amber colour. It’s fruity and light with a bit of apricot. Looks like I will be having this tea a good part of the day.

So glad I got in on the What-Cha group buy. I never bought from them before but you never know what-cha are missing until you try it. Thanks to Liquid Proust and to What-cha for organizing it.
