drank Tiger Monk by Temple Road
694 tasting notes

I received a free 10g sample of this from Temple Road. Thank you so much for allowing me to try this tea!

The tea arrived in a vacuum sealed package with detailed steeping instructions! Needless to say the packaging was amazing. I am a huge fan of roasted oolongs so it took me all of 10 sec from the time I got home to ripping open this package. This tea did not disappoint. A nice roasted flavor. As it cool the sips hint at sweet cinnamon and a bit of caramel. I believe I mayve shortened the steep time too much. 6 mins seemed really long! I will let this go the full amount next time. I really enjoyed this one. I will be adding this to my wishlist.

drank Imperial Keemun by Steepster
694 tasting notes

This is from the Feburary 2014 Steepster Select Box.

This is my first Keemun so I have no idea what I should be tasting. I have had one other tea that I would describe as “smokey” and it hit you in the first part of the sip, almost like breathing in smoke. This was more of a smokey flavor as it settled in your tongue. I would describe this as smokey/woody flavor. I really enjoyed this.

Boiling 4 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

I received this from Anna! Thank you!

I tried this hot tonight. It is very lovely. Berry, slight green tea flavor without out being bitter or too vegital. The flavors are well balanced. I will probably put the rest of this away for summer. I believe this will be amazing cold brewed and a wonderful summer time tea.

drank Cafe Vanilla by Della Terra Teas
694 tasting notes

I received a sample of this in the box of teas I bought from BrewTEAllySweet. Thank you.

This is a decent cup. The vanilla is a tad on the light side. I have had a few flavored vanilla teas and this holds its own, but would probably not purchase again.

drank Red Velvet Cake Mate by 52teas
694 tasting notes

I recieved a sample of this from Allie in our Mystery swap and for some reason didn’t write about it when I was drinking this a week or so ago.

This was an okay tea. I am not a huge fan of flavored Mate’s so I wasn’t expecting much. It was a warming cup. It was a dark sugary taste. There wasn’t much chocolate or cake favor for me just a toasty mate. I enjoyed what I had, but wouldn’t need to purchase this again.

Boiling 5 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

Noooooooo! I have been drinking this constantly with the cold weather we have been having. I noticed the other day that Verdant was running low. I just went to the web site and it is gone. All gone. (sad face). I hope this is not just a one time tea. I am in LOVE. I will definitely enjoy what I have left, but I really hope I can have more some day.

I received a sample of this from Charissa Thank you for sharing!

This was one of 3 she sent to try out different Gong Fu Tea shop teas. I have tried the other 2 and this is my favorite so far. Sweet, caramel, and honey notes. This is definitely Ceylon. It is very smooth. No hint of bitterness or astringency. I like! This would be AWESOME iced, but will also make for a great afternoon tea with a bit of honey. I think I will have to pick up a couple of ounces of this the next time I am in the shop. Thank you for sharing!

Oooh I think you are right about adding a little bit of honey! I never add anything to my tea but I just might have to make an exception on this one, because I think it would be really tasty. Good idea!

drank L'Anniversaire by Fauchon
694 tasting notes

I received a sample of this from bluebelle in our February swap. Thank you!

Oh this is so nice on a cold afternoon! I chose to drink about half my cup before looking at the description. I picked up a smooth black base with a fruity mint finish. The mint is a subtle taste that blends well with the black base and the fruit is just a slight hint to the finish of each sip. I do not detect floral as the description hints to. I would get a tin of this if ever the opportunity presented itself. Thank-you for sharing.

drank Assam Melody by Adagio Teas

I received this in the box of DAVID"S tea that I purchased from TeaPet. Thank you for adding this one in.

This is a decent cup. I must have brewed this a little too long. It was pretty astringent for me. I added a bit of milk and it did the trick for the morning cup.

drank Vanilla by Adagio Teas

I received this in a sample set from Adagio. This is not to bad, but not my favorite vanilla tea. It smells wonderful, the black base offers a tad bit of astringency , but nothing too strong and the vanilla comes through with each sip. A nice cup of tea.

Boiling 3 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

Profile

Bio

I started drinking tea while on a 4 month long cycling trip through South America. It seemed to always be a great way to warm up when I was cold and it was always available everywhere. Mate was the big tea of choice down there and it was also a great way to get to know people. When I returned home, my sister introduced me to Teavana and this launched me into the realm of loose leaf tea.
