The first time I purchased Throat Coat was when I had a terrible cold that was already well underway, meaning my taste buds were completely out of commission (I can’t taste a single thing when my sinuses are blocked). I steeped it exactly according to the directions on the box and had it several times a day. Thankfully, it really did help my throat feel better (the only thing that did!) and I really enjoyed it. It does seem to coat the throat and feels thicker than other teas. To my surprise, when my husband tasted it (before I took a sip of course, didn’t want to spread germs), he thought it was disgusting. He’s not much of a tea drinker though, so I just shrugged my shoulders and continued to drink it frequently. As soon as my nose unclogged enough for me to be able to taste AT ALL though, the extremely unpleasant flavor of this tea became immediately apparent and I couldn’t choke it down anymore. Thankfully by then my throat wasn’t hurting as badly. I still buy this tea if I have a really bad sore throat, but only if my nose is all plugged up as well! This is honestly one of the worst tasting teas I’ve ever tried, so I give it a 5 for flavor, but an 80 for how much it helps my sore throat.

The name sure sounds tempting, but I find this tea to be rather “blah.” I think I can taste both the honey and vanilla, but somehow the two flavors combined end up tasting like neither. It’s not a bad tea and is quite inoffensive, but it’s nowhere near being a favorite. This one came in a Celestial Seasonings sampler pack and I won’t buy it on its own or probably even finish the tea bags I have.

drank Wild Sweet Orange by Tazo

No, no, no. The name and description sound so tempting, but I do not like this one! Bought a box years ago and drank a mug of it, hated it, then tried it again because I’m an eternal optimist and hoped it would be better the second time. It wasn’t. Orange is usually a wonderful flavor, but the flavor of this tea reminded me of the way rotting oranges smell. This box of tea was quickly given away!

drank Jasmine Dragon Pearls by Tazo

This is a tea I picked up at a Tazo store a few months ago. The tiny rolled balls just fascinated me! It was pretty pricy (for me, at least!), but I’m glad I bought it. It has a beautiful scent and pretty much tastes like it smells. I find myself wanting to just hold the mug and breathe in the steam! This is the first jasmine tea I’ve purchased, and I’m really curious to try some other (cheaper) brands and see how they compare. Also, this may be a no-no, but I use the same tea in my little tea infuser 2 or 3 times without any perceptible decline in flavor.

Multiple infusion is certainly not a no-no for green teas! You’d be throwing precious liquid down the drain if you discarded the leaves after only one infusion!

drank Apple Cider by Bigelow

Oh, I keep trying to like this one! Bought a box of it about a week ago and I’ve used 6 of the tea bags so far. When consumed without any sweetener, it’s pretty sour, like most fruit teas. The apple flavor is kind of there for me, but I mostly taste cinnamon. Although I adore cinnamon in recipes, for some reason I’m not especially fond of cinnamon in tea. Tea companies seem to put too much of it in their blends and it ends up tasting like those awful cinnamon pine cones at the store smell. There are some other spice flavors in there, but the main things are a slightly unpleasant sourness and the strong cinnamon. Tonight I tried it with a bit of sweetener and it did bring out the apple flavor more, but this still is not my favorite. For some reason I keep finding myself drinking it though so I’m sure I’ll finish the box! Just might not buy it again.

Had to pick this one up when I saw it at the store because I love peppermint! It’s pretty good. I like that it’s a cold brew tea so I can have iced tea really quickly. No complaints on the taste really, though I have to admit I prefer the taste of pure peppermint tea and am kind of skeptical of some of the ingredients in this one. Regardless, the convenience of being able to have iced tea in minutes makes up for the slightly less delicious flavor. I drink it unsweetened and it’s extremely refreshing on hot days. Will probably buy this one again when I run out!

I am a peppermint fanatic and peppermint tea is my favorite kind of tea, any time of year. Twinings Peppermint is very good, no complaints from me. Admittedly I don’t seem to be very particular about peppermint tea and have never actually had a brand that I DIDN’T like, but still! Usually I steep this tea for quite a while and have never had issues with it getting bitter. It’s always yummy! I enjoy it plain, no sugar or milk but those would probably be nice additions.

drank Organic Peach Cobbler by Tazo

I brought this tea home after a visit to a Tazo store. The name sounded so tempting and it smelled awesome, very peachy! Unfortunately, I did not enjoy it at all. Tried it twice and let it steep for different lengths of time. When I steeped it as long as the package said, it was quite bitter without much in the way of peach flavor. When I steeped it for less time, it somehow managed to taste bitter and weak simultaneously. The tea got dumped down the sink both times, something I rarely do. My husband gave the rest of the package to his tea loving coworker!
