34 Tasting Notes
I got this tea in the white sampler box my best friend sent me for my birthday. I love white teas. Their delicacy is unmatched and they are the perfect partner for any fruit. Sadly, this blend did not live up to my expectations. I had a cup of it once and wasn’t too keen on it on it’s own. What I ended up doing was brewing it at quadruple strength and using part of it in my hookah base with some strawberry and guava tobacco. I’d say if I ever get it again, I’ll use if for that alone. It really enhanced the tobacco flavour, but on it’s own fell pretty flat.

It’s definitely chai weather here today with these flurries out of nowhere (come back, mid 40’s weather). I couldn’t really figure out what I wanted when I got home from work today, I literally stared at my tea cabinet waiting for a sign or some tin to shout out “you want me”. I almost went for my favorite earl grey when I saw this little guy hiding out in the back. This one has a very dry leaf nose to it, which is usually not my favorite but the ginger and peppery kick made me keep sipping along. There are also these cute colorful pieces of fennel candy throughout that give it this very slight hint of sweetness. Overall, a very satisfying chai.

I find myself constantly picking this tea up and going “hmm is this really what I want?” Let me tell you, it’s ALWAYS what I want. Beautifully smooth, and not too heavy on the bergamont for an Earl Grey. Plus that deliciously sweet vanilla flavour that lingers on your tongue and in your nostrils. YES. Just, YES.
EDIT: I used this as the water base in my hookah. Holy WOW. It was good, but after a while the bergamont started to burn my throat. I would do it again with the tea iced.

Preparation
One of my all time favorite cups. I’m so sad they discontinued this tea… There is little to no astringency in this black tea blend, and the chocolate and cinnamon blend perfectly together. Despite the coconut in the aroma, there is little more than a slight note of it after steeped. I don’t mind though. I’ve never done this one iced, but I have a feeling it would be a real treat as an iced latte.
