I had the opportunity to sample this tea at their Tea Basics class today where I was lucky enough to have my very first Steepster meetup. Thanks out to Wombatgirl for the posting. What great fun and adds just another layer to the tealog experience. The class ended with this tea and it was great. Unlike many cinnamon teas that feel like it is soaked cinnamon bark this was a wonderful blend. Strong cinnamon flavor but smooth like a fine brandy.

Oh, I’m so glad she ended with this tea – it’s one of my all-time favorites. :)

I remembered it was one of the ones that you had mentioned before hand so I’m sure I let out a moan when she called out the black teas that we were going to sample. Thanks again for organizing the first official KC Steepster Meetup!

Although I forgot this was steeping so it sat with the teabag for a very long time, it still tasted very weak. I’m not sure what others think of the drawstring teabag but it is entertaining.

This gave me a laugh this morning. When I grabbed the box I read “spicy cinnamon” and realized how much my tastes have changed. Don’t get me wrong. I really like this tea because it is straight up cinnamon without other flavors added BUT spicy it is not. With all the great tea blends I’ve been drinking, this comes in as a mellow tea.

I have a friend that always brings me tea souvenirs from her vacations. Most of the time it is Jasmine. I’m not sure is this is because it is her favorite or if I once made a comment while we were eating at our local Asian lunch haunt. Anyway, when I saw yet another Jasmine, I secretly wished for a little change. Luckily I got it. I’m one lucky steepster!

Don’t try to rush this tea experience. It is fun from the start. The pearls are beautiful as they unfurl so be sure to brew using a clear glass container. Next the sweet smell of flowers hit you but the flavor is mellow. It all works together for a wonderful experience without overwhelming the senses. Quite enjoyable.

When they offered me a cup at the bank I thought I was going to have to settle for coffee. Nice surprise when I found out that they were using a Keurig gourmet coffee machine and actually offered two kinds of tea. I selected the Mandarin Orange Spice. Halfway thinking I would need the strong spice to cover hints of coffee
BUT
It was great. Nice strong aroma. The citrus flavor comes across in spite of the strong cloves. Now I can’t wait to go back and try the other one.

I’ve always thought that I could find something to like with any tea. This blend made me question that thinking. I could taste the cinnamon and the marsala along with the black tea but the musty twist doesn’t bring it together. To me, the musty ruined them all. I’m not sure I’ll even give this one a second chance.

I enjoyed this a great deal. It reminds me of a Chocolate Coconut Tea that Trader Joe’s use to carry. The almond balances the coconut flavor while still maintaining the black tea taste.

This tea has strong black tea flavor with just enough bergamot to tease you. Although this was purchased at the supermarket, I really like it for a basic “go to” tea.

I’m sporting a cold so I wanted a strong flavored tea today. This is one of those special teas that you find over the holidays but will enjoy year round. The cranberry and almond move this beyond a standard holiday spice blend. Don’t compare this with the boxes of grocery store holiday teas. The East Indies Tea Company has raised holiday blends to a new level – one to treasure.

Always have a special fondness for this tea. Too many years ago to count, Cinnamon Stick was my bridge to look beyond traditional black tea. I believe it was my very first flavored tea. I enjoy how the cinnamon enhances the black tea rather than simply replacing it.
