125 Tasting Notes

Ok so my Davids FINALLY got this back in stock. I had been trying to buy some for over a month, first at the family and friends sale, second with a few gift cards I got for christmas. I’m so happy its back though, this is by far my favorite straight tea!

I’ve been drinking it a lot since then. It is buttery and sweet, with a slight sourness as well. My hubby actually likes it too, which is great because oolong is a nice tea to drink straight. I have a tin of it now so I think it will be a regular everyday tea for us from now on.

Being a huge Harry Potter fanatic I had been dreaming of trying this tea since I learned of its existence. When I got my 12 days sampler for Christmas, I cheated and opened this one to try immediately.

I didn’t account for the fact that I HATE rootbeer. One day, I will get to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and see if their butterbeer can tickle my pallet. And this is probably the best rootbeer flavored thing I have ever had, but I just don’t like that flavour. I’ve tried it now as a latte, straight hot, and iced. I think iced was the best. But still too close to rootbeer.

Everyone! I am sad/panicking because I just went to steep my first cup of this from my recent order, and there are no blueberries to be found! I know my 12 days of christmas sample had many, is this normal? Did anyone else get any recently without? I will email Frank but I thought I’d ask first, because part of what I loved about this tea was the plump blueberries within.

Peeps you can’t just like this I need to know haha.

To my knowledge, I had no blueberries in my 12 Days of Christmas sample. Zero. And I just used 3/4 of it today. I can’t truly remember the first cup, but I didn’t think it had any either…

Also, lol @ the likes and lack of responses ;) And your comment to that effect!

Sweet Canadian

Haha I agree Kittenna, I was like this is not something to like! There is no dislike button! My sample had a lot, but for some reason this bag has none. I actually used the last ones from the sample for tonight’s tea.

Sometimes they settle so you have to shake it up.

Sweet Canadian

Definitely missing then as I dumped the whole bag into bowl to see if that was the case.

I have been meaning to get a flavoured genmaicha for my stash for a while now. This one tastes like normal genmaicha but better, it has a hint of chocolately-ness that I really like. I drank a bunch of it yesterday at work.

My first Della Terra order arrived today! Everything looks lovely, certainly will not be my last. I decided to brew this one up tonight as I wanted to make sure I was going to be able to fall asleep early this evening. I was up late last night and I want to get lots of sleep before I have to get up early tomorrow.

I did not find the dry smell very attractive. But after the pungent-ness wears off, I could smell a hint of eggnog.

The brewed tea is a nice dark caramel colour. I added almond milk to enhance the experience and the flavours definitely allude to eggnoggy goodness. This is definitely a nice winter rooibos to have around. I like the flavour a lot.

I’ve been getting annoyed all day that fellow steepsterites haven’t been posting enough to aid my procrastination! But I guess I should be critical of myself since I need to blog all the delicious tea I tried over the holidays.

I adore this blend. I finally got to try 52 teas on Christmas when my hubby “surprised” me with the 12 days of christmas sampler that I told him to get me, and this is one of my favorites in it. I really really like the green teas in the box overall, but this one is so light and delicious. I expected to like graveyard mist better but the lemony flavour of this one is addicting. It’s so nice on its own, even better with a touch of honey. I have more coming on the way with my first 52 teas order, along with some Browncoat Genmaicha, some caramel pumpkin cheesecake, and some boo-berry cotton candy.

Nice strong ginger tea. I like ginger a lot. The spice and sweetness of ginger is there, and some peppery-ness remains in my mouth after each sip. I added some honey, it’s pretty yum. Would still be good straight. I will probably pick some up for colds because it would definitely clear your sinuses.

I’m excited to pick some of this up next time I’m at DavidsTea! The last ginger herbal I had (Rishi’s) also contained hibiscus, and that completely ruined it. Ginger is so great when you’re sick!

I am back to the tealogging after a bit of a holiday break, and even though I have a bunch to catch up on I will start with the tea I am drinking right now.

Wow! I think this might be one of my new favs. I’ve been meaning to try it for a while, but always forget because it is muddled among the many other herbals at Davids. I may get a tin of it since I have some gift cards to use up there. I think it is nice both iced and hot. I will have to see how it holds up since I am making a big jug of it right now. It is minty and citrusy, a really refreshing combo that also works hot for me.

So hubby and I made the long trek yesterday from the east (central) part of Canada to the western part to come home for Christmas. I gave my mom an advent calendar for her birthday, so we went got home she brewed DAY 16’s tea for us to enjoy together. I don’t think she brewed it properly, and I may have pointed this out and been called a tea snob….

It was spicy, but I felt like the mint was subdued. I think it was over-steeped and I’m going to try remaking it myself this afternoon.

My love affair with tea began in 2008 when I was living abroad in France. I have since collected teas from all over the world, and enjoy a nice cuppa in the morning. I enjoy mate, black, and herbal tea the best. I am adventuring out a bit into oolong and white teas. Tea is one of my favorite things in the world, and I hope my posts reflect my lighthearted approach to life.

I am a grad student in Ontario where I live with my husband. I study Canadian-American relations and examine Canadian identity through this lens.
