This is a sipdown, though I don’t think I ever actually added it to my cupboard for some reason. Whatever, it’s gone now.

Made a full pot on tonight, the night of probably no sleep. Had a medication reaction to my ADD meds earlier (changed dosage) and now I’ve been having somewhere between an anxiety attack and a manic episode since about 9am this morning. 13 hours now. Hopefully I can sleep tonight, but I’m not counting on it. Doing some cleaning while I try to calm down.

This tea was interesting. I can taste the chocolate but the rooibos is a bit strong for me. I added a bit of milk for the first cup and I’m not sure I should have but it’s definitely creamy. I like it, but it won’t go on my restock list.

I hope you’re feeling better today.

Oh dear, feel better soon. I’ve had a few panic attacks in my day. Not fun at all :/

OMGsrsly

That’s no fun! Hope you’re feeling better.

drank Golden Fleece by Verdant Tea
772 tasting notes

Reading my previous review of this tea made me sad because apparently I had it just after my kitty died. Today was a much nicer occasion, although not special. It’s a Monday at my desk.

This tea is as lovely and smooth as ever, for being as old as it is. A bit of that not-quite-cinnamon spiciness and honey and bread and it’s just quite lovely all around. I’m glad it’s not available because I’ve spent way too much money on tea already today between finding out a discontinued Verdant blend had some backstock (of which I purchased half of what was left) and also Butiki since they are (sadly, so sad!) going out of business. :(

This is on it’s 3rd steep, which looks just as dark as the first. Started at 1 minute and added 30 seconds to a steep (would have done 15 seconds but that is a Breville limit).

Preparation
200 °F / 93 °C 1 min, 0 sec 4 tsp 25 OZ / 750 ML
caile

I just drank my third steep of this too! :)

I made this and I drank some and it’s a sipdown but I really can’t be fair to it because I feel so very terrible right now, physically and emotionally. I’m going to plead sick and go home from work after I wash out my pot, whether or not I can take sick time. I’ll make it up later if I can’t. I just can’t be here right now. I promised people to do QA database stuff today but I just can’t.

I made the mistake of taking a bite of really sweet marionberry greek yogurt in the middle of this first cup. So what tasted sweet and berry on the first few sips turned rather bland afterward in comparison (because I am very sensitive to contaminating flavours like that). But I really enjoyed the first couple of sips and I’m going to hold off rating this until I have a real idea of how it tastes normally. Also I put too much milk in because it’s all the way in the break room and that’s a long way to walk and I don’t judge milk in an empty mug very well.

In other news, I hate everything.

Preparation
195 °F / 90 °C 3 min, 30 sec 3 tsp 25 OZ / 750 ML

Let’s hate everything together. But seriously, I hope everything is alright.

Starfevre

I have work angst. It will pass. Hopefully soon and with a minimal number of casualties. Such as my career if I snap and start shouting at someone.

Fjellrev

Ugh, I’m sorry to hear that. I hope people/things stop being douchebags so that you could do your job with ease!

Starfevre

I have an ally. Working on getting others.

drank Mango by Adagio Teas
772 tasting notes

I’ve somewhat lost my taste for Adagio black teas, but sometimes they’re okay. Today was incredibly stressful for me, as the people on the tea chat can attest as they were witness to my temper tantrum. Also I had to go cry in the bathroom. And I might have signed myself to a whole bunch of new responsibilities kind of by accident. We’ll see next week.

This tea was boring. Fruity temperamental black tea with no real outstanding features of note. Not terrible but nothing I would restock.

Preparation
190 °F / 87 °C 3 min, 0 sec 3 tsp 25 OZ / 750 ML
Cheri

I hope that Friday is a better day for you.

SO I got this in a trade with Tea Sipper a looooooooong time ago. Really long. Really. Thankfully it has aged well and is still super good. Rooibos is not woody tasting and mint and chocolate, with added sweetener, make this like drinking a girl scout cookie. Yum.

Reminder to self if I buy this again: Use a finer filter. Rooibos attacking the tonsils is not pleasant.

Preparation
Boiling 8 min or more 3 tsp 25 OZ / 750 ML

I’ve been using David’s paper filters and it has been working like a charm.

Starfevre

I never think of paper filters (and I have some) until after the fact.

tea-sipper

Good to know this one is still good! Teabags would make any rooibos much better though.

So. Not much to say for this note. I drank a pot of this while working late at night and having an intense conversation about airplane stuff in the tea chat. And being very frustrated at my data.

Unlike my other Zen Tea tea that I had yesterday, this one has aged quite well. I put a little more in and I brewed it for a little longer and it is very very very tasty. Sweet at the beginning and nicely tart at the end of the sip. Citrus and herb and just all around good. I don’t remember who suggested this tea to me tonight but thanks!

Boiling 8 min or more 4 tsp 25 OZ / 750 ML

Sent a bit of this off to Lariel this morning and what’s left was just enough for my normal pot size. I offered a cup to my lead because she likes the caffeine free teas at this time of night (6pm-ish for reference) and she accepted. I kinda wish she hadn’t because this was really very very good.

No hibiscus in this blend for which I am eternally grateful. It was slightly tart, which likely came from the cranberry ingredient. But it was a pleasant tart and the coconut was a nice taste to this very very fruity tea. I couldn’t identify what made it kiwi, possibly because I’m not very familiar with that fruit, but the sour cherry was spectacular. I recommend this highly.

I wish I had more to try it iced but it will go on my wishlist for my next Mahamosa order, which I’m sure will happen eventually.

Flavors: Cherry, Coconut, Cranberry, Pleasantly Sour

Sans fruit hibiscus? Bless you, boatswain!

Fjellrev

Totally drooling over here.

Anlina

Fruit without hibiscus! WANT!

I asked someone on the tea chat to pick something off of my list to drink this afternoon and this was picked again. It’s now my only plain black tea left but if I keep drinking it at this rate, it will be gone very soon. Last pot was less than a week ago.

This tea was okay for the most part. Very…generic black tea. Did not taste of quality and no special flavours of note. I did get a terrible taste in my mouth shortly after I stopped drinking though so that wasn’t very good at all. Age or quality or both is unknown.

4 tsp 25 OZ / 750 ML

drank Raspberry Cream by 52teas
772 tasting notes

I really really thought I’d written a tasting note on this this morning but apparently not. Let’s see if I can stretch my mind back that far. Busy frustrating day so this note will be sparse in the details.

Tea was good. Not as good as fresh but I did manage not to underleaf it this time. Still enjoyable and worth drinking. I sent the remainder to Lariel in the package but this is not a sipdown because I’m pretty sure I have another pack of this at home somewhere.

Desk tea sipdown though. Off the list.
