15049 Tasting Notes
oh man… this was exceptionally good today. I put in a little of the vanilla creamer we have in the house and it turned this into a whole new level of delicious, cookie tea. Seriously…sooo good! sad to see it go but possibly a reorder in future heh.
If you love it still, Terri, you can make creamer with egg and coconut and vanilla and maybe maple syrup or honey if you can have that.
Muahahaha. Ahem. http://bravoforpaleo.com/2014/01/10/paleo-coffee-creamer/ I prefer using a couple egg yolks instead of whole eggs. I also add 1 tbsp or so of maple syrup because yum. Make it like mayo. :) It thickens in the fridge.
Cool, A paleo website I haven’t already visited 100 times! Thanks!
Hmmm….so is it really tasty? Also, does it separate in the cup? I tried one paleo coconut milk creamer that people ranted and raved about about a year ago, & it sucked, it was gross, hahaha. I have used the heavy cream from the top of the coconut milk can, which was ok, & I’ve used coconut whipped cream, which was better. Neither was particularly satisfying.
So the eggs don’t make it gross, huh?
Really, I guess it’s sort of a vanilla flavored mayo. Of course, the idea of putting mayo in my tea cup sounds disgusting, but maybe it’s really more like marshmallow cream! I could see adding that to certain teas :)
I just googled it and linked the first recipe that looked right! I used someone else’s recipe, but they’re all basically the same. I do like this creamer. It separates in the cup a bit as the tea gets cold, which is disappointing, but initially it does mix in fairly well. The eggs cook in the hot water, so it ends up being like you’re adding custard into the tea. Custard > mayo! I’ve been using whipping cream a lot recently because I’m lactose intolerant, not dairy intolerant. But I’d totally use this one no problem. Lasts about 1 week.
saw this in the dashboard and figured that meant it was as good an excuse sa any to finish it off today. So many teas to drink up! We were supposed to go play board games this afternoon at our friends place – it’s a monthly thing, but i am sick. I think it’s my body trying to tell me i need a weekend to slow down. The down side? so much to do around the house and i’m soooo slow at it because i’m not feeling well. Upside? I can stay at home all day in my pj’s – drinking tea, puttering and reading/watching tv. This tea? while really tasty, has waned a little over the few times i’ve had it. Likely not a reorder since there are others i prefer so much more from stacy. that being said, i’d drink this anytime if someone offered and have a grand time doing it!
PJ’s and puttering and relaxing!!! Do it!
Try not to stress about stuff around the house. It’ll get there eventually. Just relax and get better. And sip, sip sip.
psssst…. i like this pineapple oolong more haha. However, the REASON i like it more is because there are real pineapple bits in here which give this a more intense pineapple taste. While the other version is creamy pineapple….this one is PINEAPPLE YO! I get a bit more of the green oolong taste in this cup but because of the intense pineapple taste, it doesn’t bother me in the least. such a great tea…
So i finally got my order of this one in from Lupicia and figured i could do my mini comparison against the last of the flowery pineapple oolong that i have from stacy. Though i was fairly certain which one would end up being my favourite, i wanted to try again because my taste HAVE changed over the course of the year or so since i last had this one AND because what the hell :)
This oolong is recommended brewing at boiling temperature – SO I DID I T ANNA! it also has coconut added to it, which i generally don’t like, but don’t recall it being a weird note in this tea the last time i had it.
Brewed up, this is a very light, pineapple tea. I can detect the coconut under ths pineapple notes in this one, but rather than screaming COCONUT! they just sort of give this tea a creamy sort of flavour to it. On the whole, i am bumping my rating up on this one as it’s a much more tasty treat since i last had it.
Another one from Roswell Strange I’m trying to drinka few teas from most of my swap buddies, though i suspect the teas from YYZ and Boychik will wait for tomorrow or another weekend as i want to do a few comparisons. I think i still prefer the scottish toffee caramel puerh from majesteas here in toronto, but this one is a close second. It’s got that delicious creamy caramel taste that rides along with the base of the puerh for a really enjoyable cup. at least in my opinion :) thanks for letting me try another version of this one RS! :)
awesome… thanks for sending this my way roswell strange I finally got around to organising my tea cupboard again with all the swap stuff and found this bag tucked in one of the boxes that came over in the move. I quite like this even for a bagged tea. Does it stack up against my memory of saskatoon berries? mostly. But to be fair it’s been about 18 years since i last had any haha.
Boo to not eating Saskatoon Berries in ages! Someday I’ll find a way to send Saskatoon Berry stuff to you all; probably in the form of chocolate or jam or something…
had a small cup of this today and sent the rest off for Terri and tastybrew to try if they are so inclined with our BBB Box.
oh haha yeah i liked this one but it’s REALLY smokey. it’s not a subtle smoke at all – my travel mug lid had to be soacked after i drank it out of it the first time hahaha
roswell strange sent this one my way and i’m glad that she did. While it’s not the crazy intensly delicious melon flavour that lupicia has…it is also a black tea! and that makes me happy. I much prefer this one of the black melon that the teafairy sent me. I’m finding this one to be just the right balance of fruit and black tea today. Thanks a bunch RS!
another one from cavocorax I was hoping that i would really like this one but i found that the mint is just too over powering for me, or at least today it is. I’m not really getting and of the elderberry flavouring or the lemon grass. Oh well…. at least i tried heh
Glad you enjoyed it. One of the better tea bags I have tried, though I understand preferring it in the cooler months.
This one is definitely my favorite out of their holiday teas. Then again, I’m a sucker for anything vanilla. :D
