15061 Tasting Notes
charlotteZero was awesome enough to send this my way in a recent swap. Admittedly i had this a million hours ago but there’s been a whole lot of work, dinner, talking to my parents and looking at an apartment that got in the way of me writing about it until now. What i recall was the deliciousness of this one in strawberry form. THIS is actually what i wish marco polo was, and isn’t for me. Better review to come in the future when i spend more time rolling around with this one.
thanks CZ!
this has been on my wishlist for a while and dinosara was kind enough to send some my way for me to try. “But Sil! it’s an oolong” you might say…. I’m well aware, but i’m always open to trying things that a bunch of ppl seem to love. Turns out? this is a really boring tea for me. It’s not even oo-wrong…it’s just meh. It smells delicious in dry form, but then brewing it up…SNORE FEST. it’s not even enough of an oolong to get me all riled up about how i don’t like oolongs. it’s really just sort of there. hanging out. being BOOOOORIIIINGGGGGG…. lol
haha i’m trying a bunch of things today. sad that this one was just kinda there…but glad i tried it, as always :)
OH SNORE FEST is not a good thing. I actually have some of this in the mail to me right now – interesting….
I’m going to have to give this one another shot. Maybe i’ll prepare it like traditional chai next time to see if that works better. Brewed as a tea, not in milk, this is a bit bitter with a weird after taste. I’ll try it as a milk brewed chai and see if that makes it all better, since some chais are meant to be milk, miilk, milk, milk, milk!
must. get. more. Thanks again for sending this my way dexter. It’s on my list for the next mandala order i place :) this really is a great cup of tea. perfect for the miserable day that’s happening outside of my window. I love happy tea days!
I feel like i’ve been drinking this tea forever. I need to learn to open my larger quantity of teas sooner so that i have more time to drink them up. lol Not that i HAD to finish this one, but it’s part of my “drink older teas” goal. Aiming to get through all teas up to and including December by the end of June. Downside? Black friday sales hahahahaha. I quite like this tea, though some times it feels like this one has a personality. Some days it’s not as delicious as i remember it being…and other days it makes me fall in love with it all over again. Still a great staple to have in my cupboard and a fantastic offering from Teavivre! I recommend checking it out if you’re a fan of black teas :)
dexter sent this one my way from my wishlist. let me tell you…THIS is a happy pear tea. happy happy happy. It’s not a green base, which makes me SUPER excited and happy. While i enjoy green pear teas, they’re still not quite what i want. This one smells like juicy pear…but not fruity pear…which i know sounds weird. This is that smell…when you first cut into a pear that’s about to be over ripe… the base is still present, so the flavouring is subtle. It’s not an in your face sort of tea…it’s one to sit and enjoy and let it wrap it’s tasty pear around around you. thanks a bunch dexter! If i find this at winners…i will be a happy lady!
missB sent this one my way. it’s an intersting tea…not really sure how i feel about it. I think i’m landing on the side of, thanks but no thanks… this has a quite distinctive taste…and i’d argue that once it cools a bit, it does start to taste more like a stronger alcohol…which, lets be honest, if i’m going for that, i might as well drink the alcohol! still, a unique tea to try. thanks missb!
dexter sent this one my way…this one was a straight up miss for me. It didn’t remind me of black forest cake or taste even remotely like it. It was just sort of there…hanging out. oh well! can’t win them all and i love trying ALL THE TEAS! except for that blergamot one that james is threatening to make and send me… ick.
DAMN FINE MORNING! ok it’s really not…it’s miserable and wet, snowy, cold outside but that just gave me an excuse to work from home and drink tea! I picked this one for the morning because it arrived last night and i’m soooo excited about it. Steeped it for 5 mins, but after tasting this cup, i’m thinking this is going to be good for even longer steeps haha. At 5 mins, there’s a hint of sweet fruitiness to this one that reminds me of the memory of some of the TTC teas that i’ve had. yes that makes sense in my head. The cup was smooth and pleasant and i’m glad i picked up TWO tins of this! woot woot!
dinosara was kind enough to send me a sample of this one in our swap. It was a tea that i’d looked at picking up in my lupicia order, but for whatever reason didn’t’ (maybe it was sold out) this is a reasonable assam. It’s malty with a little bit of a kick. It’s not as bold as i sometimes like me tea, but had i ordered this, would have had no issue with finishing it off :)
