15061 Tasting Notes
This was an interesting tea. I had hopes for the ginger/pineapple combination, but when i picked it, i didn’t realise that there is both basil and tulsi in this one. As a result, while this is a pleasant enough cup, the ginger and pineapple are dominated by the tulsi. I think i would love this sooooo much if there was no Tulsi – it would make a pretty good tea. And i’m not a tulsi hater, it just bring a particular taste to the table and it’s not what i was looking for in this tea. Still, it’s nice to try a few more teas :)
Preparation
Another sample from RiverTea. In my opinion they seem to be doing well in the straight black world, fruit teas and white flavoured teas. Everything else seems to be a little hit and miss. Hot, this one had a few pepper notes but not a great deal. For the most part this tastes like a rather generic fruity sort of rooibos. Not a bad cup but rather tasteless…
Preparation
I received my second box of RiverTeas today and figured i would try all the samples they sent me since that would mean not having to add them to my cupboard since the other half is going over to Cavocorax since it was a joint order :) This one isn’t bad…it’s not as strawberry as i want it to be, but the base isn’t overly bitter and does still come through. It’s more mango than anything, and in my world, that’s not a bad thing…but i did want more strawberry :)
aaaalllll gone! That makes me happy since i AM still trying to chug away at my goal. I enjoyed a nice cup of this over dinner with my other half. I like the blend of this with the black tea, though truth be told it’s not likely a reorder for me since there are so many other Lupicia teas that i’d rather have. But it was really nice to be able to buy a tin, split it three ways and get a few cups in :)
mmmmmmm…this one is growing on me, which is bad because omgsrsly has not yet succeeded in making steam have a REAL ecommerce site…but if they did, losts of ppl would want this…and others. sigh
Haha. I know, right?! Not even a horrible facebook one. And Bayswater seriously needs to update. When I went in a few weeks ago they said it was coming soon, but it’s been over a year since they first said that!
Haha I would totally order this one if they actually had an ecommerce site. But it’s probably better for me that they don’t (yet).
I finally busted this one out to try and start drinking and i’m sad to say that i recall nothing of the drink :( work got busy and i totally lost track of what this one was like when i started on my flavoured teas lol
yeah sometimes though, it’s just that work is so busy i don’t focus on the tea…so that could mean i drank it in 5 and it’s amazing or, over the course of 3 hours i drank it and just don’t remember anything lol
having a last cup of this one tonight. I did a little bit of cleaning up my cupboard tonight in terms of getting things organised. we’re not fully moved in yet, but we’re having 10 or so ppl over on friday to just chill and have food so i need to get at least a few more things out of the way. Given that a few tea friends imploded my cupboard, i thought i could semi see if i could make my goal (since it wasn’t orders that did it!!) by “removing” the samples from my count of teas. At least in that way i could see if in theory i could hit my goal. Soooo here’s where we’re at:
195 teas in my cupboard.
75 samples
Fake Cupboard: 120 (with a few inbound…)
Oh, sounds like fun! :D
And 120 sounds much more reasonable! I wonder what I’d be at if I removed things that I personally purchased…
Huh. So out of 169 different teas, only 115 of them were purchased by me. :P That makes me feel better. IT’s not my fault!!! Hahah
So that’s roughy for me since things like the BBB box I don’t count as samples. Anything later than 3-4 cups is not a sample in my count. Heh
Yeah, that makes sense. My actual-fake cupboard is probably higher than if I count things that are 2-3 or more cups! Most of it is shoved in a sample box looking messy and awful, while the rest are organized very nicely so it’s just more motivation to drink those ones down ASAP!
i’ve started tossing the things i don’t like in to my swap box more readily now… just means you guys have more to root through in case there are things you guys like.
Yeah, it makes sense to swap what you can! I only toss the things that have been passed around a bit and I don’t think anyone really wants, or it’s just not worth keeping around to try…
I’m hoping we can swing by soon. Maybe even this weekend!
Cavo, like DavidsTea Cherry Cola? :D I still have 10g of that and I don’t think I can foist it off on anyone, unless the SSTTB and the next recipients want to try it.
mmmmm i added just a little bit of the vanilla black sugar we have in the house to this and it’s perfect. it makes the orange just a little more vanilla and creamy like. I never did cold brew this one, but that’s ok. this is a good end to this tea.

though flavoured with vanilla… jonesmcjones showed it to me. it’s super sweet, so it’ll take me forever to get through it since i don’t sweeten things, but it’s great in certain things..and i used maybe 1/8th of a teaspoon…if that.
Neat! She knows so many cool foodie things. I am always impressed. My favourite to date is the maple whipped cream.
Did you get it on Granville Island then, Sil? (Tea frens, I love food. And I grew up in a house of food loving people.)
we DID go back OMG – E bought a few seasoning packages and a couple of the little boxes. I picked up the sugar and the vanilla powder heh
Odd combination—tulsi is pretty overpowering. Ginger and pineapple I could groove with.
yeah it overpowered the whole blend…
I always find ginger overpowering, it’s probably from the bad childhood memories, though. Ugh. I can’t stick ginger now.
I love my Ginger, not so much for tulsi though
i don’t mind tulsi but in moderation :)
meh….first it was rooibos this & rooibos that. I remember herbal teas before rooibos came on the scene, they were way better, or maybe it just seemed that way, back in the dark ages. Now Tulsi is the new rooibos, as far as I’m concerned.
