15006 Tasting Notes
Tea and Cards Travelling teabox.
I confess, i’ve had this tea before but it was so long ago, i wanted to see if my memory of this tea was correct AND if my tastes had changed so much that this was not a tea i wanted. Turns out that my tastes HAVE changed, and while this was a nice cup of tea, it was not the same incredibly amazing tea that i had back in the day. Dropped the rating a little for not being able to go the distance for a few months but it’s still a tea i’d be willing to rotate in to my cupboard if i placed an order with tealux again. It’s chocolatey and malty and in the grandscheme of things, a tasty tea.
Tea & Cards Travelling teabox
I pulled this one out to give it a shot since i’m always commenting on how much i dislike David’s teas. In the grand scheme of things, while i like that they make it easier for ppl to get in to loose leaf, in the grand scheme of things i’ve never found their flavoured teas to be all that amazing (especially for the price) and their straight blacks have always been….well gross. But, i keep trying them in the hopes that someday..crap work. back to finish in a bit lol
Edit: so anyway…as i was saying. this is another example of how not to do things. I mean CTC’s are not my favourite but this is awful at a 2.5 min steep. i can’t imagine using their FOUR TO SEVEN MINUTE recommendation. this is like stale dark water. i dunno. just ick.
Preparation
I guess I don’t find them that expensive, at an average of $6 for 2 oz. I know companies charging $5 for a half oz.
i guess when i look at the flavoured teas i can get from some of my favourite places, they’re like 4$ for 50g whereas most of the flavoured i like form david’s are closer to 7 for 50, which is what i spend often on 100g.
Also, i’m equating them with teas that are on the lower/medium (eg. S&V; bayswater..) side of things….there are for sure flavoured and straight teas that are way more expensive, but they are generally teas i would drop into the “higher quality” side of things (butiki?)
David’s>Teavana but i’d still generally rather buy from other places…though david’s teaware is super fun :)
farewell sweetie! Until we meet again, which is likely sometime in the near-ish future. Had my last cup of this today while dealing with stupid meetings. I can’t wait for the weekend. really. it could come sooner, please?
My other tea of the morning. I’ve decided to work from home until Wednesday given that it’s a holiday on tuesday and as a result have the world isn’t at work and my meetings are waaaaaaay less than normal. This gives me time to spend with my tea and means maaaaaybe, just maaaaaybe, i won’t work 12-16hr days for the next couple. Plus no travel time = more time for painting and cleaning and moving things around in the house. We picked up the paint yesterday so now it’s time to finish up the living room and the kitchen. They we’ll be set for putting all the other rooms away. and THAT would make me a happy camper, if we can finish it all by July 1st :)
We’re still working on getting the front porch ready to paint. I say ‘still working’, but in reality very little work has been done over the last week. First my sweet potatoes arrived & had to be planted. Then it rained for days, so the wood prep project was on hold. My goal for today, which includes both sons, is to complete all prep work & maybe even start slapping some paint around!
nice! good luck! I’ll post pics of the living room and kitchen on FB once we get through more. Ian’s home today so we may do stuff while i’m in between meetings, but so far he’s just sleeeeeeeping… bah
YES. Work from home! You’ve inspired me… I think I’ll work extra tomorrow and Sat, and take Monday off. :D
Working from home today and as a result i decided it was time to finish off the last little cup i had left of the batch terri sent me to tie me over until my preorder arrives. cough guess uh…i should have had it slower? :) Cavo has a stash she may let me steal, so that might get me through to July, but this really is my go to tea on bad days. That’s not to say that i don’t love my other teas but this IS the tea i reach for when i want something comforting and easy that tastes great.
quarter past NEVER!
ugh.. it ships July 14, so add 10 business days and i’m looking at pretty much August 1.
I’m so desperate i ordered 1st picking LB (which miiiight get here next week or the week after) to tie me over even though i don’t love it as much lol
Today this was really nice. the peppercorns made it much spicier than normal so it was a happy time for me. Not as much ginger as i wanted, but given the peppercorns it still had kick. I need to remember to a) cold brew this tomorrow and b) add a little honey to see how that brings out the flavours.
Final Count: 182 [70 samples = fake cupboard at 112 with a week and a half to go! 1 tea from October left in my cupboard and 4 from December…not too shabby, figure maybe 110 by the time july rolls around at this rate heh]
sooo how do you make this tea taste even better? Mix it with “cream” from tea gscwe2nwhweriyw398y… that’s right. I did that today and it was deeeelicious. Adding the cream to this really brought out the creamier flavours and cut back on a little bit of the IN YO FACE that this tea has going for it sometimes. Overall, a really nice way to enjoy this tea as a non latte. :)
Mmmm, jin jun mei…
