15006 Tasting Notes
Another sample from YYZ Again, i didn’t get nearly as much tea drinking in today as i’d hoped but some is better than none! I had this earlier this afternoon and it was a very pleasant cup of tea. It’s nice to find a ceylon that isn’t “red rose” like. This is a malty, fruity cup of delicious. I might need to pick some up to share with the BBB ladies in the future :)
Another offering from the BBB Box from Terri I wanted to try this one along side the other from Yunnan sourcing to see how it compares. This one? I love even more. it’s cocoa-y and malty and sweet and delicious. oh happy day..it’s friday. thank god.
Another tea from Terri via our BBB Box. I really do love that we’re still managing to do this even after nearly a year :) its nice having friends to share in new tea experiences :) I like this one, though it falls into that generic category of teas that i will enjoy while i have them, but not feel the need to restock or make permanent in my cupboard. it’s a smooth brew, i love these leaves and the taste is really nice. just not knock your socks off :)
cold brewed this one overnight to see if it would work over the summer. While it’s a tasty enough cup, i think i prefer hot brew, so next up will be hot brew then cooled to see if that works. I’m always looking for things that are close to water that we can take biking with us as needed. :)
Preparation
mmmm… this was another sample from YYZ and one off of my wishlist, so thank you for that! I really liked this one! of course the downside being that work caught up with me and i don’t have a very good memory of this one from eaaaarly this morning, beyond the fact that i drank it up and had to make a second resteep while on a call with people lol My kettle is noisy haha. I am a fan! it was smooth and delicious and slightly chocolately while also having a slight fruity hint to it in the background. thanks YYZ!
Preparation
YYZ sent this one my way, along with a few others marked “fruity blacks” I am doing my best to work through some of my samples and it’s nice to have a few straight teas in with all my flavoured samples heh
However, this one was a little too bitter for me. I thought it might be, given the smell of the dry leaf but wanted to try it out anyway – i’m still curious how close i’ll get to 2k teas tried before my steepsterversay heh. I can see why YYZ put this one in the fruity black category but i just cannot get past the bitterness. Oh well, it was nice to try :) thanks YYZ!
Another one from the Cards and Tea travelling tea box. I didn’t realise that i had tasted this one before or i’d have left it for someone else to try – so apologies to the folks after me! I was just hoping for a delicious blueberry tea…which this is not. It’s not a bad tea but it’s much more CREAM to me, with the blueberry hanging out in the aftertaste. Not a bad cup of tea and thankfully NO SPRINKLES, but there are better blueberry teas out there :)
Final Count: 179 [ Fake Cupboard at 110 teas with 69 Samples]
One from Roswell Strange I have so many samples in my house at the moment that i’m finding it hard to focus on sipping them down, so for the time being until i get my drink back on, i’m content to just try a few each week, gradually whittling them down. I picked this one because i was curious as to what “Victorian MiSt” would taste like…yeah..that’s right. MIST…riiight up until i poured water on it and went. oh..OH…MIIINT. lol
So this one is pretty nice. I don’t need many mint teas in my life, so i don’t feel the need to stock this one, but it was pretty tasty. I enjoyed this tonight while finally watching the last episode of Warehouse 13. thanks Roswell!
Another of my “December” teas that I am trying to work my way through so that the teas in my cupboard don’t go stale. It’s also a way to force me to get through of some of the teas i tend to hoard – like this one. I really like getting to drink this one when i’m at home, since it tastes much better out of a ceramic cup than my travel mugs, not that they’re awful for tea, but there’s something about being able to hold the cup and inhale and just bask in the tea that makes drinking tea so much better :)
I fully agree with the travel mug thing. I’ve learned that they’re best for stronger flavoured teas :)
Heh my travel mugs get 2 straight blacks and a flavoured every day – I don’t drink many flavoured teas but every now and then it’s nice to revisit the teas in a mug haha
I guess my issue is my travel mug has absorbed some piece of every flavoured tea it has ever held, so it ruins straight teas. I guess I just need a new one for straight teas only!
Card and Tea Travelling Tea Box
This one is from earlier in the day and i have to say, that as i haven’t tried a lot of Mahamosa teas (yet) i was looking forward to giving this one a shot. Turns out, this one wasn’t too bad. There’s a nice fruity taste to this one, though to be fair i don’t recall just how strawberry like it was heh. I just know that it was a pleasant cup while i had a VERY productive day working from home!
This is pretty well my favourite Ceylon right now. I love the flavour notes in it.
yeah it’s really nice!
