Almost done drinking this one down, not so much because i’m in a mad rush to do so but because I have so many other delicious teas coming from Stacy. I really like the richness of this tea.

Let this steep just a little too long but it’s delicious nonetheless. Apparently I’m on a bit of a pumpkin kick today heh :) ah well this is a good addition to the mix :)

Dropping teh rating on this one a bit. While its still a lovely tea, I think there are more out there that are now to my liking. Tis was one of the first flavoured teas I tried :) still a nice blend of caramel, green….a sweet dessert tea.

drank Organic Genmaicha by Den's Tea
10927 tasting notes

This is my second? Genmaicha ever, so take that for what it’s worth. :) I think i prefer the one from verdant that i tried but this is still pretty decent. There’s a lot more green earthy taste to this than i expected, though having little experience with this, i wasn’t sure what to expect. At the initial sip it seems almost like it’s going to turn into a chicken soup broth, until more of the liquid lands in my mouth. That’s a little wierd though because it tastes NOTHING like chicken soup. I have a few other’s from Den’s Tea that i need to try out this weekend, but this isn’t a bad little tea.

Thank you bonnie for your suggestion of adding a bit of laoshan black to this. I did try it straight again but it was just not happening. With a little laoshan black added I was able to drink and enjoy the rest of my steepings with this one. Will i get this again? Probably not but at least I can say that I’ve tried both regluar and winter versions :)

Invader Zim

I wasn’t a big fan of this one myself, I didn’t think to blend it though!

Sil

Bonnie gave me the idea. I didn’t think of that either heh

Invader Zim

Yeah I did the same thing with the Ginger Sage Spa Blend. I tried it by itself and didn’t care for it. After reading Bonnie’s one post of blending it, I tried it with a puerh and I was so much better. I don’t know why I didn’t think to do that with this one to!

Bonnie

When I add the Laoshan Black and a little bit of Hard Shu Puer Nugget it became like the Imperial Breakfast Blend idea. Glad you guys are experimenters too!

Invader Zim

It’s thanks to you Bonnie that we experimented and blended these!

Bonnie

Oh, you’d have eventually stumbled on it.

Ze_Teamaker

I wonder how Zhu Rong would do mixed in; considering it has spicy & woody notes in it.

Bonnie

Why not. Mix up just a little in a gaiwan or cup to taste then go for it.

drank Pumpkin Pie Matcha by Matcha Outlet

My matcha order was the following:
Size : Small
Matcha Quality: Starter (Basic Grade)
Flavor: Robust

After having to see Helena’s posts about pumpkin pie matcha for the past few months? Weeks? I finally got the chance to order some of my own to try. Since it’s only recently that I started drinking pumpkin anything drinks, I opted to go with hot, since I’m not sure cold will do the trick for me.
As always, I brewed this up into a warm latte. Let me tell you friends, this did NOT disappoint! It’s pumpkin, it’s spicey…. there’s a richness to this that brings out the pumpkin and cinnamon flavours. I don’t get much in terms of the pastry side of “pumpkin pie” but i usually have trouble with that aspect of tea and drinks.
I don’t think I’d drink this straight but as a latte, the creaminess of the milk helps offset the spices. If you don’t like cloves though, stay away from this one! The robust flavouring in this one works well with the added milk since the flavour isn’t lost either.
Mmmmm a replacement for those starbucks pumpkin spice lattes for sure! This matcha is so much better :) I will be forcing my better half to try this soon. I know he’ll love it!

Helena

my lattes are usually half milk half matcha :D or sometimes I call it a latte but it’s just a bit of milk thrown into the matcha :D I do this solely to confuse people :D

Helena

Must be weeks since according to steepster I’ve only drank it 16 times :D

Nik

I’m so glad you mentioned the pumpkin spice lattes. I go to Starbucks just a few times a year, if that, but I generally go at least once during autumn to get a pumpkin spice latte. I got one a couple of days ago and, for the first time, thought to myself, “Meh, I think I’m over this.” It was really sweet (even for me), as if to cover the taste of burnt coffee that peeks through on occasion, and I just felt kind of heavy and blah afterwards. As well, I couldn’t help but think that I could whip up (heh) something better at home that would be healthier, at a fraction of the cost.

Sil

I’m with you there Nik. I haven’t had one in ages and this year I was like….meh gimme my matcha any day haha

drank Boysenberry Matcha by Matcha Outlet
10927 tasting notes

My matcha order was the following:
Size : Small
Matcha Quality: Starter (Basic Grade)
Flavor: Distinctive

So it’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to try a new matcha flavour. In part because it took forever to get here but also because i’ve been seriously busy AND have been trying to drink the other things that I have.
I blended this up with a little milk and ice and i have to say that this is a great matcha! I think that given a choice between ordering this and the berry again, I’ll stick to this one. It’s got a light berry taste but it is without hesitation “boysenberry.” Now admittedly I haven’t had fresh boysenberries in a while, but this tastes like the boysenberries i remember. I drink all my matcha without sugar – sweet comes from the banana i add if i go that route. This matcha though…makes me feel like if i added just a touch of sweetner to is, my mouth would explode from the fruit juiciness. This is a winner in my books!
I’m glad that I chose the distinctive flavouring, though unlike the pear i think that this one could go up to the robust flavouring without coming across as artificial. This might actually be a matcha that I could drink straight – i’ll have to try that sometime 

So no real clue what to write about myself here. A friend got me into drinking loose tea and it’s something I thoroughly enjoy though I have nowhere near the experience that many folks on the boards seem to have.

My other interests are cycling, reading, board games, disney cruises, world of warcraft and dancing – in no particular order. I love travelling as well!

Most of that is on hold these days though, including tea drinking like I used to as I have a new little one who eats up all my spare time.
