15049 Tasting Notes
this is from the most recent blending of this tea – it’s different than the first time i had it – more citrusy than when i feel in love with it, and less vanilla. that makes me less a fan, but i’m hoping that will even out as it gets a little older lol. either way, one of my travelling teas from today:)
So. yesterday was my steepsterversay except i didn’t drink any tea. So today i’m celebrating with this cup and taking a look back at the last year or two just for fun. :) I’ve not been on steepster for 2 years.
Year 1
874 different teas
2101 Tasting notes
235 teas in my cupboard
Year 2
1058 different teas (so i’m up to 1932)
2446 tasting notes (up to 4547 now)
174 teas in my cupboard – with only 4 teas being from 2013 and those from December of that year
random stuff
I have figured out that i don’t like 52 teas; David’s tea; teavana; adagio much.
I prefer blends that are flavoured with natural flavours OR simply be adding herbs and other fruits/berries etc…
Black teas are still my go to teas followed by puerh, though i am learning to appreciate the occasional green, oolong and white tea.
I have made lots of awesome steepster friends this year and had some great times with ppl learning about their tea preferences and their lives :) After two years around here, I’m still having a blast, loving tea drinking and loving this place! In case you guys didn’t know this – you’re awesome and quite possibly one of the few places on the internet where the trolls don’t come out :)
HAPPY FRIDAY SIL STEEPSTERVERSARY!
Yay!! I love the stats! I’m so glad we connected on Steepster, you’re the most awesome tea sister, happy steepsterversary!
:D
Another of the 3 samples sent to me by Green Terrace Teas.
this has been highly reviewed by a number of people so i was a little apprehensive. this tastes sweet. Not quite like honey, but still sweet. I think though, that this reminds me of a more solid TTC tea. There is a strength to this tea that runs through it that makes it different to other sweet black teas that i’ve tried. I’m looking forward to having this a few more times since the samples sent from Green Terrace are quite generous! thank you again Green Terrace! more to come :)
YYZ sent me this one and i wanted to hold off for some time when i had more than 20 seconds to drink it to go through a few steepings. I don’t drink a lot of non black teas but when i do, i try to pay attention to them more than normal because they surely can’t all taste the same – aka “green” :)
Plus this Comes highly recommended by YYZ so yeah :) I followed her steeping paramters and the first few infusions were floral, but smooth, there was no vegetal taste to this, just mildly sweet water heh later steeps this became a little more floral and less to my liking but the first few steeps were pretty tasty. Sadly, greens just don’t have a permanent place in my cupboard but this was rather nice :) thank you, again, for sharing YYZ!
I Like greens, and actually have more than a few in my cupboard. They are actually the ones I share most with my relatives as many of them have sworn off black teas. I don’t drink them as often as I should though. I’ve come to prefer the sweet, but not too sweet Chinese ones. I don’t love the vegetal, grassy, or overly marine either. In fact I have old cheap sencha I should just toss as I never touch it.
this one might have to rejoin my cupboard. VariaTEA let me try this one and while i haven’t yet been able to get over the smell/sugar ZOMG-ness of the cotton candy yet to try it, i DID get through this one today. As a latte. and let me tell you…YES.PLEASE. I dunno if i could work my way through 100g of this as its a very particular taste but in milk, this is really really really nice. love it!
this is another from cavocorax from her recently splurge with TTC. Honestly, i highly recommend trying them out – free shipping if your cart only has samples in it and hits a 25$ mark. The samples have enough for several cups of tea without overwhelming your cupboard with a ton of tea!
this is a nice roasty oolong, with that familiar charcoal sort of flavour. it’s not overly intense, which i like. This is a gentler sort of roasty oolong. really nice!
I’m not rating this one, as Green Terrace Teas sent this one my way even though i’d only asked for two samples from them. I hate adding to my cupboard or wasting teas that i don’t think i’d really enjoy. I’m guessing they had room in the envelope. Soooo i’m drinking this even though i don’t generally prefer oolongs as a thank you for their generosity. I wholeheartedly appreciate it when companies do this sort of thing so that i get a chance to try their teas without having to commit to a HUGE purchase.
Sooo this is a green oolong. It had a floral scent to it that had me a little worried but brewed up, this isn’t overly floral. There’s a nice balance of sweetness here to go along with the floral. It doesn’t have that distinctive OOLONG taste that i dislike either. I think anyone who loves oolongs would find this a really pleasant cup of tea to drink.
thanks so much Green Terrace teas!
mmmm i like this one! it’s got an interesting flavour to it. The usual TTC flavour profile but then in the background theres almost like a plum-y sort of deeper feel to it…kind of like a stone fruit sort of taste. Interesting for sure and fun to try out! Thanks again Cavocorax
Sil – I chopped up half a vanilla bean and put it in the bag because I think it needs it
