I brewed another cup of the countess this morning, and made sure to keep my eye on the timer for a slightly shorter steeping time. Results: much better! More light and smooth citrusy flavour without the bitter after-bite. No need to add anything this time. It was a perfect and refreshing morning boost before I ran off to my internship :)

I bought this tea with the mission of finding caffeine-free dessert tea alternatives. I love Read My Lips, but I don’t want to be kept up at night if I drink it too late in the evening after supper…

The dry leaves smell almost identical to its caffeine-counterpart. The taste is also quite similar – more mint than chocolate, smooth, and sweet, but with the rich and earthy rooibos taste in the background. It also tastes a bit lighter. Although I wish there was a bit more of the chocolatey taste, this tea is delicious and really hits the spot for sweet cravings after supper. I’m really happy with this find!

And yes, DavidsTea was absolutely right – the bedtime version of Read My Lips. Mmmmmm this is perfect.

I’ve been desperately trying to ration this tea since I only have a tin and a half left (only!). When I got up this morning I felt the blues trying latch onto me, so I just knew that I needed a warm pick-me-up-cup of Cloud Nine to bring with me to work. I can tell when it’s going to be one of those days and I automatically find myself reaching for this comforting tea of choice.

Mmmm it smells wonderful, soothing, and fresh – with a nice berry-kiss. It tastes just as wonderful and soothing too. A perfect mood enhancer for sure. Thanks Cloud nine for keeping me alive!

I’ve never officially had a cup of Earl Grey (I know, I know) so I can’t attest to how good of a variation this is – BUT, I can say that this is one nice refreshing and light cup of tea! The citrusy notes are really nice, making this ideal for a nice sunny afternoon. I accidentally let it oversteep so it did come out slightly bitter, but it’s nothing a dash of honey can’t fix.

Mmmm. I love anything chocolate mint and this tea really hits the spot. It smells like a cup of amazing melted chocolate, but then the sweet mint is the main flavour that hits you when you taste it. Part of me wishes that it tasted a little bit more of chocolate, but it is still perfect and definitely satisfies my cravings anyway – I even feel like I’m being a little bit bad…

(and sadly this cup was the last one left of my 50g bag and I have to re-stock…definitely a flavour that I always have to have on my shelf!)

Well, I tried this tea a couple of months ago and I didn’t really like it – it kind of gave off a weird smell and taste – but I think I may have used too much water to dry-tea-mix. I decided to revisit it tonight, looking for something with no caffeine to satisfy my tea craving of the hour. Trying it again, it’s still nowhere near my favourite, but I like it better than last time. It’s true, it definitely does smell like an oatmeal cookie/muffin and also tastes like one with a bit more of a fruity taste. I don’t know how much I like the idea of drinking a cookie…it’s a little bit confusing. However, I am a fan of the pink colour.

I guess nutty teas just don’t do it for me, but this one is hitting the spot for now. I will be on the lookout for a caffeine-free tea that I like better (maybe something more chocolatey).

Oh my god. This tea is amazing…Ever since I heard of Milk Oolong, I have had recurring dreams of buying tins of it only to wake up disappointed that I could not go and taste it in real life (seriously). So finally I got my hands on some and – wow. Delicious!

From the bag, the dry leaves smell like a buttery spinach. When it steeps, the flowery smell of orchids really comes out. Drinking it is just dreamy – and I haven’t even tried it with milk yet. It is perfect as it comes. I didn’t understand how a tea could taste creamy or milky or buttery but it really does! I thought it might be somehow thicker or heavier too, but it is still quite light (if that makes sense). There is nice sweet aftertaste that stays on your lips and keeps you wanting more.

It is pretty expensive, but I can’t wait to try spending a day re-steeping it to taste the different notes that come out each time and really make it last. Well done, Wuyi Mountains of China and DavidsTea. Well done.

My real mother is jealous of this tea, wishing she could lull me to sleep by herself. Seriously. She said that.

I’ve been experimenting with finding different teas to help me get to sleep lately – this one is definitely one of the best I’ve found. I chose it as an alternative to the Vata Ayurvedic tea (which I also love) because I’m not a fan of licorice root and there is none in this one. I really love the soothing mix of peppermint and chamomile in this tea – they work together nicely without being too overwhelming. Those are really the only of the herbal ingredients I can make out, but there is a really nice sweet aftertaste. Plus, the dry leaves and flowers look really pretty (always a bonus).

This tea really helps me to unwind and relax before bedtime. It makes me feel warm, fuzzy, and drowsy and helps to regulate and calm my system. Drinking it before hitting the hay has definitely become my nighttime routine.

I also have to say that one of the DT salesgirls recommended that I try mixing the Mother’s Little Helper AND the Vata Ayurvedic teas (half and half) to make the ultimate bedtime combination, saying that she swears by it; the Vata to stop your stressing/anxiety in its tracks and the Mother’s L.H. to send you over the edge in drowsiness. I tried this and it was even better than both of them separately (and it kept my cup from being too overrun by the licorice in the Vata tea)! A must try for those looking for some nighttime help :)

Goodnight ;)
