drank My Oh My Apple Pie by Tea Cozy

So I have signed myself up for a yarn and tea club. Every month the local yarn shop and the local tea shop (who are neighbors, and who are one block away from a fabulous used bookstore, making this a very expensive area for me) team up to send some yarn and a new tea to me. I hit “add to cart” so fast I’m surprised my mouse survived.
This was the tea for September, and it smells wonderful. There is apple. There are spices. There are raisins. It smells magnificent.
Each of the times I’ve brewed it so far, it’s brewed up rather paler than it smells. Next cup I’m going to try a bit more leaf, and see where that gets me!

Dustin

What a strange and specific overlap of interests they are marketing to with that team up!

Sounds like a danger zone to me!

I’m doing the thing I do where I have alllll the fall flavors to try and magic cold weather into being.
This is mellow and yummy. It’s still going to be 100 tomorrow.
Sigh.

Oh thank goodness, my H&S order arrived last night, so I was able to brew some of my beloved Boston for breakfast. Yum!
This, to me, is autumn in a cup. This is what I think of when I think of the quintessence of fall.
Its going to get hot again in my neck of the woods (sob, sigh, wail), but for this morning, a calming and centering cup of Boston!

Veronica

This is one of my favorite fall teas, too. I need to place an order!

A more delicate steep time was a good choice. The base can get a bit bitter. But I didn’t get more pumpkin flavor out of this.
More tinkering to come!

Love the SS tea names!

Ah, my yearly tussle with apple tea.
I love the idea of apple tea. I love apples! I love tea! I am 100% onboard with this idea!
But the reality hasn’t yet bowled me over.
I think I’m going have to tinker with the steep time on this. I think there is lots and lots of potential in this blend, but honestly I steeped it too long.

I did not steep this for quite long enough, I am afraid. So today it’s a shadow of itself, an almost earl grey with a lot of additional fruity flavor.
I may be cursed. I oversteeped this last time. I will find the golden zone on this!

So I placed a huge order of autumnal teas on Saturday. My cupboard is bare, it’s time for a fall-flavors restock!
Props to the Skirted Soldier. I placed my order for a couple of teas on Saturday morning, and it arrived Monday. On the other side of the country. Wowza!
I am on the hunt, as I seem to be every year, for the pumpkin tea of my very soul. The one that I can sip and fall into that fall feeling.
I like this, but I don’t love it. I don’t get quite as much pumpkin as I’d like, but the butterscotch-y caramel is a nice note. I don’t get “salted”, which is too bad.
I’m looking forward to playing with this some more, and seeing what nuance of flavor I can coax out.

If you haven’t tried Bird & Blend’s Spiced Pumpkin Pie yet… it’s my favorite pumpkin tea.

gmathis

I think I’ve seen you review several Skirted Soldier teas before—will have to check them out more closely.

Rosehips

I may have tried that before, it’s ringing a bell… I’ll have to get some and try it/try it again!

How is it possible that I’ve been this busy? And yet, here I am, having had an absolutely slammed couple of weeks. I am very fortunate to still be working, and to have so many hobbies that have managed to keep going, but I’m feeling spread a little thin.
My tea cupboard is almost bare. I was doing a huge sipdown, as I was feeling overwhelmed by the sheer amount of tea I had, but I’ve gone too far. I was starting to feel sad and listless as my cupboard was so pared down. I’m still figuring out what the perfect amount of teas for me is- where I feel comfortable and inspired but also not overwhelmed.
So, I spend yesterday ordering autumnal teas, and also going to the local tea shop (which I have not set foot in since February) to stock up on more autumnal flavors.
I’ve had this before, but I figured why not try again!
Its an earl grey variation, with a little extra fruitiness. Not overwhelming, but solid enough. And it was lovely to sit and drink it this morning, a cup of something I have not had in months and months, and feeling a little bit more relaxed.
Ah, the power of tea.

Good to see you!

It’s starting to get hot in my part of the world. Like, 90 degrees hot. Ugh. Despite the fact that I grew up in this hot climate, I’ve never really liked the heat, preferring weather where I can cozy up with a cup of tea.
Oh well.
I picked this up because lemon and elderflower sounded delightful, refreshing, nice! In reality I’m finding my cup a little bit sour. Maybe I need to adjust the steep time?

ashmanra

Same. We have been doing gong fu outside. Yesterday we killed several mosquitoes and we have already had temps in the high 80’s. I grew up here, but I wish I could be elsewhere in sticky summer.

It’s been a while since I posted a review here, though it’s only been a moment since my last sip of tea.
Weird times, eh? I can’t believe how quickly the world has turned on it’s head, and I’m still reeling.
Its the little things that are keeping me grounded. They usually do, but it’s especially strong these days. The soft sound of a page turning, the colors of a ball of yarn, the sent wafting up from my cup of tea.
I’ve been leaning heavily on favorite blends, and this is at the forefront of that movement. A classic which I am always in the mood for, and always lifts my spirits.

gmathis

Hello there, and thanks for the well-written “little things” that made me smile. Yesterday it was the scent of sheets dried outside on the clothesline; this morning it was turning the pages of the hymnbook my sister gave me years ago and remembering the old tunes.

derk

Nice to have a tea that you know you can count on to keep you centered. Stay well, Rosehips.

Welcome back! There is always the little things. :D

I love tea! I confess that I was a hot chocolate lover for most of my life, but recently a switch has gone off in my brain, and suggested that I might just love tea. And I do!
I’m a bit of a novice, but an enthusiastic one, and am happily sipping new varieties all the time.
I love vanilla, fruity, and caramel flavors, and cant wait to try more.
