2967 Tasting Notes

I have been away from my loose leaf and my infusers all weekend, as I was housesitting. This isnt compleatly tragic, as I got a chance to power through some bagged samples that have been inflating my numbers quite a bit, but it was lovely to return to a morning pot of properly steeped tea this morning.
What to pick to herald my return to my teapots? Why, this gorgeous confection of my favorite flavors. Yum! Caramel Vanilla Assam for the win.

Todays sample sipdown is this sample from Harney & Sons. Green tea and I have a long and somewhat complicated relationship. I keep trying, but they never really wow me. And I am afraid to say that this is no execption. Sorry green tea, you and I are still not quite seeing eye to eye.

drank Darjeeling de Triomphe by Teavana
2967 tasting notes

My boyfriend gave me this a few months ago, and I’ve been drinking it slowly. Today has been a very long day, starting early with a thrifting expedition, and afternoon tea was called for.
I think I understeeped this today, its almost not registering as a darjeeling, though I am getting the greeny taste thats part of a Darjeeling.
This was lovely as a romantic gesture from my boyfriend, but I shall move on to other Darjeelings.

drank Organic Assam by Harney & Sons

Today I must tend to my parents dog, who needs walking, and then I am going to the half off thrift store sales. Time to wake up!
Goodbye, Assam. You’re pretty good. I may very well get you again, as Harney & Sons is determined to send me tons of this as a sample. Ah well.
Sipdown, and I’m under 70 teas! Lets see how long that lasts….

I live off thrift stores! (Our D.A.V. has 25-cent Sundays. Even with no fitting room, if you spend a buck and have to discard two pieces because you judged size incorrectly, you’ve still got a bargain!)

drank Ume Vert by Lupicia

Today is Lupicia sample day! The second sample sachet of this. Once again, the plum is really obvious, and not fake plum at all. Its not my favorite thing I’ve got from Lupicia, but its a nice flavored green.

drank Muscat by Lupicia

I love the Lupicia newsletter, with its free samples.
Grape flavored tea, eh? How very unexpected. It certainly smells just as advertised.
The taste has a slightly less bright grape flavour, but you do get the grape. Its very interesting.
I had this hot, but I imagine it would do well in a cold steep.

drank Salted Caramel by DAVIDsTEA
2967 tasting notes

Attempt # 2 with this tea.
Its still not as salted caramel-y as I would hope for. I tried it at a longer steep time (the package reccomends 4-7 minutes. Seven seemed a little long, so I did five), which removed the coffee like aftertaste, but did not bring out more of the saltiness that I was hoping for.
This is my experiementation tea. After each cup, I say to myself “I will try again!” This has got potential, and I’m hoping I can unlock it.

Nightshifter

Good luck and let us know if you find it. :)

Lala

I found this one best with double the amount of tea and a shorter steep, like 2 min. I didn’t ever get much salt, but I got burnt caramel with dark chocolate.

drank Chocolate by Harney & Sons
2967 tasting notes

The is the last untried chocolate tea in my cupboard (I think….).
The is also one of the last Harney samples I ordered. This is perfectly servicable, but a little light.
Not compleatly overwhelmed. I find that there are other chocolate teas that I like more.

Tealizzy

Have you tried chocolate delight by Tealux? It’s like hot cocoa!

Rosehips

I have not. Thats going on the shopping list!

ashmanra

I have a Chocolate Delight but I think it is by The Tea Guys. It is amazing.

drank Damask Rose by Lupicia

I’m almost through with this. Its not bad, but I wont be restocking this. Champange Rose is a much better execution of this concept. After I’m done, I wont be rebuying this, but at least I have the pretty tin!

This is a cinnamon red hot in liquid form. From the first sip, I was instantly transported to the movie theatres of my youth, where, sometimes, I would have some of these instead of the usual popcorn.
I dunno, sometimes they sounded like a good idea, but when I have them they remind me that they are not my favorite. By a long shot.
Still, there is no denying the power of this tea. It is a thing of epic power. Its just not for me.

JustJames

did you add any milk/cream? it makes an awesome latte! (i was very surprised).

Rosehips

No, I didnt add anything. Next time I get some, I’ll try that!

I love tea! I confess that I was a hot chocolate lover for most of my life, but recently a switch has gone off in my brain, and suggested that I might just love tea. And I do!
I’m a bit of a novice, but an enthusiastic one, and am happily sipping new varieties all the time.
I love vanilla, fruity, and caramel flavors, and cant wait to try more.
