2778 Tasting Notes
This is the second tea thats coming to work with me.
I’m really loving the smaller cupboard size, as it encourages me to drink things that have been neglected, and this tea has been neglected.
And thats too bad. Its not the best Darjeeling I’ve had by a long shot, but its perfectly nice! Its got a sweet mellowness thats lovely to try.
There isn’t a lot of this, so sooner rather than later this will join the ranks of the sipdowns, but thats also kinda thrilling.
I’ve brought my tin of this to my desk at work, and it’s been a really lovely part of my work day.
This is a lovely black tea blend, with a hint of something coco-y, and a light and refreshing brew.
I’m getting much more interested in unflavored blend, and its really nice to discover the complexity that can be found in tea.
An imagined conversation with someone about tea
Them: How’ve you been?
Me: Good! You?
Them: Good. Do anything fun this summer?
Me: Yeah! I’ve been getting tons of sipdowns in.
Me: (Oblivious to their confusion and discomfort) Yeah, I’m trilled. My cupboard was really getting out of hand, but I’m trying to find the perfect cupboard size. I cant remember the last time my cupboard was so small, its like 20 something teas right now.
Them: Oh, well, I meant-
Me: (talking over them) Plus I’m getting the teas I feel are more appropriate for the summer drunk in the summer! I’m not going to have any out of season teas when the autumn comes around, and I can buy fall tea with total confidence.
Them: (Desperately) Oh. Great, well, good seeing you, I’ve gotta-
Me: (Continuing on) Like Jingle Bells! I know its got a Christmas-y name, but really, its a light and fruity blend, I like it much better in the summer. I got to sip it down today, and I’m excited!
Them: (Edging towards the nearest exit) Well, great, I’ve suddenly got to go as I’ve just remembered my entire life is on fire. Bye!
(They run for it)
Me: (confused) Oh, ok, bye!
I’m not really digging this.
It smells fantastic in the bag, and when the hot water first hits it, but I find it brews up so mildly that it barely leaves an impression.
Which means that its getting drunk much faster than I expected it to, but still.
Its generally inoffensive, but not very exciting. When I sip it down I won’t get more, as I’m trying to curate a more interesting collection of teas.
Time of waking- 4:00 a.m., to take someone to the airport.
I managed to come home and sleep for about an hour before I had to get up to go to work.
It is going to be a very very long day, with me floating through the world.
This tea is nice, but rather more mild than I expected it to be. Theres a somewhat woody note to it.
I am going to need a near permanent stream of tea today to stay functional.
