2778 Tasting Notes

And the second weekend of the play begins tonight!
I’m feeling pretty good about it (if not about the 100 degree heat and the air quality).
This tea is not my favorite earl grey, I must say. I find that bergamot can get somewhat soapy, and this veers in that direction to me.
Ah well.

Things I always forget include- when the air quality is bad I cannot sleep. Today is no exception.
Ugh. Its going to be a long, hot, smokey day. Uuuuugh.
I am rather sleepy, so Malachi is going to help.

I’ve been drinking this at work, and I’ve gotta say its really nice. There is a sort of almost fruity sweetness to it that I’m enjoying. Thats probably the oolong.
I still feel tentative about the steep time, but it’s always turned out well, so I should stop fussing.

That tea has quite a name! LOL!

So I live in a part of the world that is currently experiencing a lot of wildfires. I’m not in any immediete danger, but my town has been covered in smoke for days. Every time you go outside little piles of ash get kicked up.
Its bad, both because of the damage to nearby places, and also because no one feels well in all this smoke. Everybody is having some breathing problems and everyones head hurts.
I am no exception. Its hard to have any energy, as I’ve had this tiny headache for weeks. Plus its still 100 degrees.
Ugh. Strong tea is called for.
This is really nice stuff. Not overpowering, but a firm presence in the cup. Just what the doctor ordered.

Hey Rosehips, glad to hear you’re safe. My friend was evacuated from her home last week and evacuated again from her boyfriend’s in a different town. Last year when the Napa and Sonoma fires in California were raging, I had to wear particulate respirators in San Francisco and use an inhaler. If you can afford a HEPA filter for your residence, they work wonders. Hang in there!

Rosehips

That’s a really good idea. I should look into it!
I hope you are safe and that the air quality isn’t too bad where you are.

It’s so terrible these fires keep happening so much!

We ran into that in Tornado Alley some years back. Air quality from all the debris and blowing insulation fiber was lethal.

Things that went wrong with this cup of tea this morning-
1. Steeper ball cracked open and dumped some leaf into the cup while I was steeping.
2. Steeped it too long. Bitter
3. Poured some of it down my front.

Sigh. Malachi, what’s going on here?
Let us hope it is not portentous of things to come today….

ashmanra

Well? Please update and let us know your day improved!

Rosehips

Ah! Yes, it did!
(tea friends are the nicest friends, always checking up on one!)

Murphy’s Law of Tea: it always spills on you first thing in the morning, in the most visible spot possible, on the newest item in your wardrobe.

Rosehips

Its so, so true.

Backlogged from yesterday.
This didn’t have nearly as much flavor as I was expecting. I actually found it a little bland.
It could just have been me, the next cup may be good, but yesterday it hardly processed.

First two shows down!
They went fine. Both had sections that could have run smoother, but I’m fairly pleased with how my part came out. Next weekend is the final set of shows, and thats always a bittersweet time.
A pot of this for breakfast. Its a decent earl, but it gets a little soapy with its bergamot. Next time I’ll watch the steep time, and see if it makes a difference.

Its opening night!
If anyone has ever been in a play, then you know Tech week is never easy, and I’m feeling rather worn down at the moment. But I’m looking forward to tonight!
This is the perfect cup for those trickier mornings, when one is dragging and has a lot to do. A good start to the day!

I’ve been drinking this down at work, and its been very enjoyable.
It was a smooth, easy sort of Darjeeling, and I should not have left it so neglected for so long.
But now it is a sipdown!

Breakfast blends are the order of business.
Its Tech week, so the rehearsals run late, and I still have my day job, so I have to wake up early.
Uuugh. Help, tea!
This is a solid breakfast blend. Its not quite to the same level as Malachi in strenth and depth of flavor, but its a really good breakfast blend.
And I need all the help I can get today.

I love tea! I confess that I was a hot chocolate lover for most of my life, but recently a switch has gone off in my brain, and suggested that I might just love tea. And I do!
I’m a bit of a novice, but an enthusiastic one, and am happily sipping new varieties all the time.
I love vanilla, fruity, and caramel flavors, and cant wait to try more.
