This is a real keeper. Very smooth, just a touch of astringency, medium fermentation. Not earthy, more dark coffee. Delicious!

Bought a cake of this with my recent White2tea order, based primarily on a very positive review from the half dipper. It is strong, indeed. Very astringent. Nice amber color, and very generous leaves – meaning it gives up lots and lots of infusions. It gets beautifully clear in later steeps. To the extent that bitterness transforms with aging, this seems like an excellent candidate for long term storage. And if you are a fan of bitter teas, like Lao Man E, you will probably like this one, selling for $40 currently.

A fairly smooth young sheng. It is soft and kind of floral, very nice flavor. Bitterness comes through after a few steepings. I think those that like young shengs will find this one very pleasing. I like more upfront punchiness, though this is a quality tea for sure.

This one is on the way to me. In your opinion, is it a good candidate to buy and hold for awhile?

I’m not sure. It doesn’t have much huigan or punch. But it is very high quality and has some character and bitterness. I suppose we are all trying to guess about aging!

Evidently, Jing-mai are supposed to be quick drinkers, but I’ve got an ‘08, which seems to have improved in just the few months I’ve had it.
I’ll swap you for some Jing-mai 2014 I’ve got that sold out from a company that is only located in Jing-mai only selling Jing-mai, called An-dan, which translates as Peaceful Gall-bladder. I’d like to know how they compare.

Oh, sorry man, I already put this into my house mix. I’ve been putting my good samples into a mix and I thought this would be a good addition.

This is one of the more expensive teas at Tea Urchin. The good: the quality of the leaf is amazing. The color is a crystal clear amber that holds up to seemingly endless infusions. The tea is very thick and hearty. There is almost no bitterness. But it is lacking in character. I find the flavor is kind of dull, with no punch and little huigan. I wonder how a tea like this will age. It is clearly very high quality, but little flavor for my tastes.

Got a sample of this with my recent Chawangshop order, based on a positive review from the Half Dipper. It is indeed a power pu, nice and thick, some real bitterness at certain points in the brews, and good flavor, though not outstanding. It gives and gives. I liked it, though not enough to order a cake. I’d recommend giving it a whirl if you order from them.

A nice smooth shu, tastes noticeably different than others I’ve tried. A bit musty, in a good way, no off flavors, medium richness and somewhat deep. Tasty.

Did you get the bread aroma from this one? It is pretty good for the price.

Rich

I didn’t, but I’ll look out for it next tasting!

Very smooth and deep flavor. Rich tasting but not earthy. A fine everyday tea!

I think this is the lightest shu I’ve ever tried. It is very smooth, no earthiness, just a light flavor. Good quality, I do like it. It’s different, and interesting!

A nice deep fairly smooth shu. It has that characteristic gong ting flavor, with some acidity. Not top notch, but pretty good.
