drank Awake English Breakfast by Tazo
79 tasting notes

Dragging my feet this morning from a late night at work. Thought I’d try to see if it woke me up.
Tea is pretty bitter, although this is my first black tea. Added a little honey to be able to drink it. Not really feeling anymore awake.

Preparation
185 °F / 85 °C 4 min, 15 sec
Cofftea

This is your 1st back tea? Wow!

Elyse

I should clarify, non fruity black tea. Also i said i was new to drinking tea :P

I’ve found this tea sort of grows on you. Black teas vary in bitterness, so you might find you like some varieties better than others, but I like a little bitterness in a breakfast tea. Somehow it does sort of wake me up. But, then again, I often add milk which softens the bitterness a little. :)

I got this with the green tea as opposed to the black tea. Tea is very sweet without adding honey. I added a touch of honey however cause i have a bit of a sore throat. Very smooth and floral without makingit seem like i’m drinking perfume.

drank Precious White Peach by Teavana

Wanted something cool and refreshing after spending a few hours out side working on my new bonsai tree (my pet away from my furry one at home). Steeped slightly less than 2 minutes. And threw a bunch of ice cubes in the first cup as i was too impatient to wait for it to cool down.
Havn’t really noticed a change from the last time i drank it. Not really peachy, and i’m afraid i might have burned the leaves again. I really need to get a thermometer once i get to school again.

Smells yummy, very strong smell of cloves. This tea tastes slightly of organge, which i’m not such a fan of, but pleasently spicy tea.

Orange? Hm. Never got that. 2 chai tasting notes in a row. I think this is a sign I need some. :)

Elyse

Well i don’t know if it actually is orange, but looks like there are orange peels in it, which it the part of the orange i don’t like.

Cofftea

That is very strange. They really should lable it as a flavored chai if it is one. You should email them. I’d be curious as to what they say.

So from other’s suggestion i steeped it longer this time. Almost 10 minutes this time. Still no chocolate taste. Debating on if i should pass this on or not.

So second time around. I think green tea is starting to grow on me. Pretty much same cooking instructions, though next batch i’m gonna try doubling the amount of teas/water ratio.

The smell opening the can nearly overwhelmed me. But not bad as a tea. Very floral and relaxing.

I got this tea last year for my Bday thinking “OMgosh rose and rooibos!” I thought I hated floral teas. Now I love them… still dispise red rooibos though, good thing I can’t detect it!:)

Smells Great! Looking forward to trying this.
After steeping though i was a little disappointed. Really am not getting a alot of chocolate in this. I added some milk and sugar to try and bing it out. As it’s cooling i’m getting a little more aftertaste of cocoa but not really the chocoalte i was looking for.

I agree… but then again I’ve seen people steep this 8-10 min. Maybe that would be better? Do you have luck sweetening chocolate teas? I find it dumb downs the chocolate instead of amping it.

mpierce87

I think this tea is much better at higher steeping times – give 7-9 minutes a try.

Elyse

idk this is my first chocolate tea. thanks for the tips

Cofftea

I’d say try it clean, then milk, then milk and sweetener (increase steeping times by a min when adding milk, maybe 2 when adding milk and sweetener).

mpierce87

Also, this tea is more of a dark chocolate/cocoa taste than milk chocolate, so that may be why it isn’t what you’d expect for a chocolate tea.

drank Strawberry Matcha by 52teas

So First time with matcha. Thought i’d go a little easy on my self and mixed it with some lemonade. I balked at the color of my concoction, and almost I threw it out, but i made myself try some.
Wow! It really tastes alright. Perhaps this is cause i put 1 tsp for 2 cups of lemonade, but the lemon covers up the bitterness of the green tea, and there is a nice subtle strawberry flavor. The green tea makes the leamonade less sour and smoother to drink.
Now to just get over that gross green color.

Preparation
Iced 0 min, 15 sec
Cofftea

Haha! Matcha lemonade is good. I prefer matcha limeade (green on green so it doesn’t look as gross)- but my favorite way to drink matcha cold (Matcha OJ is unfortunately the grossest looking lol) This matcha is kind of a dull green color. Most matchas are much brighter in color which makes it look less icky.

Hello,
I’m a college graduate, who got into tea during late night studies (late nights without liking coffee otherwise sucks). I’m currently taking a year off in Montana as an Americorps, and hoping to go to medical school (lots more late tea nights for me).
Any tips or suggestions to try are greatly appreciated.
