737 Tasting Notes

On the package it said to use 1-2 pearls. I used two because I never really know how those big pearls work while steeping. And I don’t know…it just turned out really strong, and I couldn’t explain it at all. I tried re-steeping it for a shorter time and it still was strong and I couldn’t pick out the flavors.
I didn’t really like it, but there was a hint of something that might get me to really like it in it too….
So I am going to withhold a rating till I try this again. Next time I am only gonna use one pearl. Maybe then it will turn out better. ><

Nicole was awesome and sent me a bunch of black teas that I’ve been wanting to try for a while in our swap! I have only tried maybe two other teas from Mandala, but everyone raves about their teas, so I am eager to try more!
This is the first tea from the swap package Nicole sent me, and also the first black tea of the day!
Wasn’t super sure of it when I saw that one of the flavors was cherry. It seems like the cherry flavors I used to find it black teas have been replaced with woody tastes now.
But I was actually pleasantly surprised.
It smelled like wood as it steeped, and when I started drinking it cherry flavors started popping up! The flavor of this tea was a good balance of wood and cherry. And the aftertaste reminded me strongly of salted peanuts. No idea why, but it totally tasted like that. xD
It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t something I’d be wanting to try again. Glad that this was a small sample, so it wasn’t wasted too much on me. And I’m glad that I got to try it. Thank you for the sample, Nicole!

Flavors: Cherry, Peanut, Salty, Wood

drank Golden Honey Dew by Lupicia
737 tasting notes

I am on the second tin of this tea, and I still am loving it!!
I don’t think I can ever get sick of this one.
It’s seriously the perfect tea to have when I first wake up on a bad day and can’t drink caffeinated tea. Ahh just so perfect! _

Crowkettle

I need to try more Lupicia teas. I seem to have the bizarre (albeit very creative) ones!

Sil

crowkettle…you want me to put some of this in the package going over to jones?

OMGsrsly

Nice one, Sil. :P

Sil

whaaaa…i ADORE golden honey dew but i do have some left to share if someone really wants to try it…

Crowkettle

Ha, I’m not going to say no.. I’ll put this on my paper list of “wants” either way- green rooibos is a favourite here.

leaf in hot water

I really want to try Lupicia! This reminds me I should ask some friends to bring some back for me on their travels :)

OMGsrsly

leaf in hot water, they do ship to Canada! I don’t remember how. I think Dexter said that you just put a note in the message box, that asks them to contact you with shipping?

Got a generous sample of this tea from Rosehips! I really did need a relaxing tea, and this one totally worked! ^^
I love how much chamomile relaxes my muscles, it’s like I feel it between the sips. It’s the perfect kind of tea for me. It inspires me to try all of the chamomiles!
I wasn’t sure if I’d like this one when I looked it up on Steepster, but I tried it anyway.
It’s definitely interesting.
The main flavors are lemon and chamomile. They taste almost the same since chamomile is generally pretty sour tasting. Kinda a weird combo since it was a little hard to tell them apart, but I look forward to trying the other two tea bags of this one. It’s interesting. Not something I’d go out and buy, but it really does make for a pleasant cup when you want to relax.
Thanks for the samples, Rosehips!

Soo I totally oversteeped this tea because I was really upset over an email my stupid Doctor sent me >> So I’m not gonna rate it yet. It was way too much peppermint for one cup of tea. xD I need to try this again and give it a proper review because I Am sure that this isn’t what it usually tastes like. Oy.
Don’t worry, I will give it a proper review soon, Rosehips!
Just was a bad moment to be steeping tea since I was really upset ><

Flavors: Peppermint

Rosehips

That’s why I always send extras! You never know when oversteepage may occur. Best of luck for the next cup.

Ost

Haha, and I’m like a pro at over-steeping. xD So thanks for being thoughtful about it! XD

AllanK

I oversteep peppermint tea on purpose. Stronger tea makes a better medicine for certain gastrointestinal problems. A lot of health benefits to peppermint tea.

Ost

Huh…didn’t know that. But may come in handy later in life. xD Never know. That’s interesting.

Yeah…this one just tastes roasty to me. I don’t understand…it’s like whenever I try aged oolongs, they just end up roasted. And everyone’s tasting notes are seem to have all the flavors in them. How do I not get any of those teas? XD
I have no idea…Oh well…Maybe they are just not for me.
Thanks for the sample, Darby!

Flavors: Roasted

ThainofBuckland

This is how I feel about every unflavored tea all the time. xD Chocolate? Cherry? I’m lucky if I get the sweet potato flavors in black tea. I like a nice roasted Oolong, though.

Also got a swap package from the lovely, Rosehips! :D She sent me some teas I’ve been wanting to try for a while, such as this one! :D
I haven’t been able to find this anywhere, other than the seller’s website. So I couldn’t resist the opportunity to try it.
It wasn’t as strong as I hoped it would be, but the vanilla is definitely there. I didn’t think it tasted too artificial, but I really wished that it had been stronger. Then it would have been the perfect vanilla tea before bed!
But since it wasn’t, I’d say it’s an alright tea. Not the best. But I’ll finish the sample. I’m really really glad this was only a sample, and that Rosehips gave me the opportunity to try it! Thanks again! :D

Flavors: Vanilla

Rosehips

That’s a great thing about samples, you get the chance to try before you buy! I haven’t actually tried this yet, so I should get on that, and see how it compares. Glad the package arrived!

Mike

This was my introduction to rooibos. Pretty good, considering the price…and it made me want to search out more vanilla rooibos teas.

Got an amazing swap package from*Darby* yesterday, which was filled with tons of these Downton Abbey teas. I don’t even like that show, but if it’s a RoT tea, I need to try! :P
Decided to start with this one since it’s an herbal, and I really need to relax after my trip to Vegas.
The dry leaf smell made the ideas of this tea being mainly rose confirmed in my mind. But while it steeped, the rose aroma was totally replaced by raspberries.
I thought maybe it would still taste like roses, but maybe intertwined with raspberries.
And I was totally wrong.xD
There was no flavor of rose at all. I actually found myself a little disappointed. It seriously just tastes like raspberries. Maybe a hint of something flowery, but definitely not roses. Apparently this has hibiscus in it, but I didn’t taste any of that either!
Oy.
This is not a tea for me! >< This was my first tea of the day too, and since I didn’t drink anything yesterday, I was excited to be home again and drink a crap load of tea. Hopefully the next ones won’t be nearly as bad!
Never been into raspberries. I imagine if you love those, this would be a great tea for you. But just not for me. Thanks for the sample, Darby!

Flavors: Raspberry, Rose, Tart

Anlina

I love raspberries, so this sounds quite intriguing to me.

Ost

Ohh, I think you’d really like it then!

dragondrool

I tried this when I got a sample in my catalogue a few months back, but I had the opposite taste experience. I was hoping for the raspberry to shine through, but all I could taste was the rose petal, which I thought was nasty. I wasn’t a fan at all.

Took this tea in a tumbler with me two days ago when I drove with my bro and his wife in Vegas. I’m surprised how long the flavor stayed, I really didn’t think it would be strong enough to last for the 5 hours in all it took for me to finish it. xD
This one really does well in a tumbler! :D I’ll have to remember this one. ^^

I feel like none of these What-Cha teas are what I’m used to. I don’t really expect them to be how they are. Don’t take that in a bad way, for the oolongs it was a bit disappointing. But for these black teas, It’s kinda a pleasant surprise.
I’m expecting them to be more like the black teas I’ve had before, but they’ve proven themselves to be different. My What-Cha order is beginning to be quite the experience. xD
I think i was expecting this to be more like honey and that’s about it, but I was wrong. The stronger flavor of the two I tasted was malt, and the weaker one, honey. But not the kind of really sweet honey that would almost give you a sweet potato flavor. It’s the kind of honey that is just sweet enough to not make it all just thick and malty. If that makes sense xD
I really enjoy this one. This was the last tea I bought 50g of. And again, definitely not a waste of money! :D

Profile

Bio

I’m not too sharp with intros, but I figured it is about time to give it a go.
I started out drinking oolong and green tea that my dad brought home from his China business trips.
Then I discovered Teavana, and fell in love with some of their teas. Eventually I stumbled across Steepster, and a whole ‘nother world opened up.
Have discovered so many different kinds of teas, and have been loving this journey! The tea world is insanely big and amazing! And I’ve met some of the kindest people here who have broadened my horizons in more ways I could have imagined! Happy to be here, and to be drinking so many amazing teas! :D

My rating system:
1-59: Really really not a fan. An awful cup of tea for me…Totally undrinkable.

60-69: Not horrible, but not something I’d ever drink again willingly.

70-79: Pretty good. Wouldn’t mind drinking ever so often. But not a keeper.

80-100: FREAKIN’ AMAZING. Always keeping on stock in my home!!

I like pretty much any kind of tea except green tea. Unless it’s genmaicha or strongly flavored, I don’t like it usually.

My Tea Goals:
To find the Best Caramel Tea
To find the Best Vanilla Tea
To find the Best floral Oolong
To find the Best Malty Assam Tea
To find the Best Maple/Syrup Tea

Notes I like: Fruit(primarily peach, melon/honeydew, Banana, Kiwi, but I’m open to other kinds), Malt, Desserts (Toffee, Cake, Cookie, etc), Vanilla, Caramel, Floral, Sweet potato, Pastry/Bread,Jasmine, Honey, Cocoa, Chocolate, Maple, Nutty, Coconut, Almond.

Notes I’m Picky with: Lemon, Chai, Roasted, Blueberries, Hibiscus, Smoke, Earthiness, Puerhs, White Teas, and Cinnamon

Notes I hate: Citrus/Orange (Everything that I hate in this life that I have to take for my health is orange flavored, and it just makes me gag…so please…just no), Watermelon, Raspberry, Wood, Apple, Bacon, Lavender, Most mints, Pepper, Spicy, Tart/sour.

Yes, I am a picky tea drinker, but I’ll usually try any straight black or oolong tea that I receive. I like most oolongs, and I’m still discovering straight blacks. They always seem to surprise me no matter what!

And Swaps! I’m always down for swapping. Everything in my cupboard is swap-able. So just hit me up and send a message and we can totally do that!

On an unrelated to tea note, my other interests are limited due to health issues. But when I can, I enjoy reading and writing. Watching Netflix and YouTube have also been fantastic when I feel awful (which is most of the time).
I love Rifftrax, Rooster Teeth, Dexter, Hannibal, BBC’s Robin Hood, Sherlock, Doctor Who, Psych, and Parks and Rec.
Love watching all sorts of movies too, but that would be too much to list. :P
I’m definitely more of an internet person and love talking to people on every website I’m on. So if you ever wanna chat, shoot me a message! ^^
