SSTTB #11.

This is a nice chai as well. No chili, but lots of chai flavours with a strong base. This was a good choice this evening, even though it’s hot and hot tea is not exactly what I’m craving. I might make up more of this and ice it. There’s certainly enough in the box. :)

SSTTB #… IDK. Oh, 10.

This was a really unremarkable chai. About what I would expect from any chai, really. Maybe a little fruitier than others? Not my favourite, but definitely drinkable.

There are a lot of chais in this box, and it is SO WARM here right now. Well, not at work, but in my apartment during the evenings. I might need to make some iced chai lattes to try some of these teas.

It doesn’t often get very warm here, but I got mild heat stroke on my hike Saturday (It was 38C at one point, ugh. Thank goodness for swimming in glacial water and also a shirt that cools as you sweat, somehow. I know. Weird, right?). This, combined with ongoing heat and afternoon sun at home, means that going home to a hot apartment = sitting around in underpants in front of the fan, not cooking or making hot teas to drink. :D

Yes! I got it! Well, I got it Friday. :D :D

WOO! Tiger Assam!

So I’m sipping it with some almond milk. It’s delicious. I like it. And so I shall leave you with this.

Thank you. Reblog forever.
Oh, wait. Wrong site! :P
I’ll try to post this link the next time I drink Tiger Assam too. It’ll be a thing.

OMGsrsly

Woohoo! Awesome. :D (I can’t help it! It’s too hilarious!)

Iced. With almond milk and some cream.

SO GOOD, people! So good!!!

Now to finish up some chores and get some sleep before hiking and SWIMMING tomorrow. :D Woo, cold lakes! (I’m going to be very tempted to submerge myself and then hike, and then submerge myself every time I pass water. Which should be often as it’s a hike around a lake. Ha.)

(I made 1 L (4 cups-ish) with the ice and everything.)

Yes, a black tea at 8:40 pm. I’m living on the wild side, apparently. Actually, it’s just starting to cool down in my apartment, so I wanted to get in a small cup of something else from the box before I turn to the un-cafs or make something from my cupboard.

I put cream in it. I’m eating some freeze dried strawberries on the side, because I found a packet while I was searching for a tin of cat food (my apartment is a disaster as I’m refinishing some furniture in the living room). Consequently, the tea might be somewhat overshadowed.

It is a nice black tea. It’s not astringent, or bitter. It’s pretty strong, but not as strong as I like my breakfasty teas (mmm, ctc assams). Perhaps a little thin. Nice and malty, some stone fruit flavours maybe, but they’re being taken over by the strawberry bits I have lodged in my teeth.

That’s super sexy, amirite? :D

Would try again. Would get if I ever placed an order. Not a favourite, but as far as I can tell, is really nice.

Preparation
190 °F / 87 °C 3 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

Lemon candy. This smells like lemon candy. I don’t really see much ginger in here, though. Here’s hoping it’ll taste at least a little gingery.

Ok, this is a decent lemony tea! Much better than the other one I tried from Acquired Taste. This isn’t dry, it has a decent base and would definitely make a good iced tea. I added a little honey, because lemon and honey just go together, but I don’t think it was necessary.

The only thing that’s missing? Ginger.

Flavors: Lemon, Lemon Zest, Lemongrass

I put half a giant mug of this into the fridge this morning (because I caffeinated mostly with iced coffee) and it IS an excellent iced tea! Not sure I’d like it much cold brewed, but it’s lovely brewed hot and chilled.

To compare the new one to the sample Sil sent me a while back. This just isn’t spicy. At all. And there’s more licorice, I think… or at least more of that sweetness. The result is a blend that I’ll drink, but not a blend that I really like.

I think I preferred the previous iteration, even if it was old. :) Not a tea to keep, but I really wanted a puerh (and honestly I thought this was a different tea until I looked at the package after I had already scooped it out).

(First steep 2 minutes, second steep 4 minutes.)

A really nice earl grey! It was more floral because of the lavender, but the orange helped balance that out a bit. Nice and sweet, and took cream really well. Just what I look for in an earl grey.

Definitely a tea I’d consider picking up if I were to do an order. Unfortunately, I have limited myself so I probably won’t keep it. (Besides, there’s Paris in the box! My favourite EG of all.)

Flavors: Bergamot, Floral, Lavender, Orange

VariaTEA, you are genius.

I was sad that it was too hot to enjoy this chocolatey goodness. So she suggested I ice it.

YES.

I added 2 tsp sugar, which was too much. 1 tsp next time. But otherwise:

4 tbsp Cavalla (I know)
10 oz water
1/4 cup or so cream
ice

Brew the Cavalla for 10 minutes, pour over cream and ice. Sip. Be blown away by the rich, bitter (sweet if you added sugar) chocolate goodness. It’s not chocolate milk, really, but it’s so so good. :)

Flavors: Dark Bittersweet, Dark Chocolate

Preparation
205 °F / 96 °C 8 min or more
VariaTEA

I am glad you tried it this way. I plan on doing this when my order arrives.

VariaTEA

Or perhaps with the last of the sample Sil gave me.

OMGsrsly

Haha. I’m going to resteep the bits and make more. MOAR CHOCOLATE! :) It’s really really good.

VariaTEA

I just steep it like tea. Do you use a french press to make it?

OMGsrsly

This would be really good with coffee ice cubes. Hmm.

OMGsrsly

I’ve done both. I like the French Press because the screen is finer (and also I can mix coffee in easier…).
